many violinists say you don't have to worry about learning up-bow staccato because is not very much used, just in virtuosistic pieces. but i see every etude book have some study about this. and to play them you have to be very proficient, so how can we not worry about this?!
Up bow staccato is pretty common, it is the down bow staccato that is not used often. And down is very awkward to do, but the principal is the same, just need to get used to doing it
@@SanTheViolinDude i can do upbow and downbow staccato quite fast (i'm a naturally gifted staccato player without training, at least it's what my first teacher said to me)... but my left hand still isn't fast enough so i still lack skill / coordination to do it in scales for example, i have to double or triple each note. sad :(
@@OttoKuus he talks too much and doesn't show close ups of his playing. Here is a pro showing nearly everything in great detail. If you want to actually learn, come to sans channel
ok come on he is good but nowhere at the level of Kerson, that guy is not only a pro but a soloist. I agree that these video can be of much more help to intermediate players. Kerson is way more advanced in the tips he gives
Whistler's Introducing the positions book includes Rode 3 for second position learning (and i think there's a 3rd position rode caprice too). it's curious how some very advanced etude is used as elementar etude just for learning a new position, and it works greatly.
First of all, it is a very nice performance. Could you share the brand of camera and equipment you used during the shooting?
Thank you, I use a GoPro 10 to shoot these videos
Very nice, I played some of these etudes too. Memories 😆
Nice, these are really fun to play

uptown staccato is ok, it's the spiccato that gets scary up in down in virtuostic pieces.
up/down bow staccato can be difficult isn't terrible

This is a good video to study. Please make other songs with the same angle as this cam. For beginners, please start with easy songs.
👍
Best recordings of these with the left hand technique on the tube, you are a violin god sir
Wow, thank you! 🫡
That would be Kerson Leong
