TBH, what I want is a NEW story-written game with similar Mario-flavored deep lore building and even tighter gameplay in the Action-Augmented TBRPG style.

This all goes back to Nintendo's decision to not make a true Mario RPG 2, and instead make the first paper mario an RPG. They could've made RPG games for the people who really wanted that, and then paper mario games where they can try out whatever new ideas they have. Instead, the two series/genres became intertwined, and neither the RPG nor the paper fans were getting what they really wanted.

Your also missing some badges that help with certain fights so bp give you more damage if you equip the proper ones

So your missing stylish. When you finish attacking with the hammer press A A A A and do 4 stylish attacks. It also gives you more star power

TTYD fan here. The reason it’s so amazing is because it’s essentially a sequel to Mario RPG, but with way more gameplay option, clearer story, and actual time in game. I have enjoyed every minute of it.

I'm loving the remake so far! I hope we also get a Super Paper Mario remake like this one day

This is my first paper mario game. I'm still not sold on it yet but its growing on me. A little bit easy for someone like me who plays lots of rpgs.

Regular mario is fine without a story. But an rpg without one is just stupid.

Look man saying TTYD is your favorite game of all time and then saying Origami King is your second favorite game of all time is a bit crazy. You need to relax. It’s all good calling TTYD your favorite game of all time, but then saying ANOTHER Paper Mario title is your second favorite is insane. There are other amazing video games out in the world besides Paper Mario. I mean look at the other Nintendo titles, Valve titles, Bethesda titles, Konami, FromSoftware, Naughty Dog, etc When you literally say 2 Paper Mario games are your favorite games of all time that tells me A) You haven’t touched other video games. and B) You have an insanely biased opinion favoring Paper Mario over anything else. It makes what you say discrediting And this is coming from someone who has played a ton of Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi titles, and just video games in general. I feel like that comment was unnecessary and seriously takes away from your credibility talking about games. Do you get where I’m coming from?

I'm one of those that ignored Color Splash due to my hatred of Sticker Star so how exactly was it trying to be like the old PM games when from what I've heard it still has pointless battles and is structured like Sticker Star?

Been playing Mario games for 35 years now. Never played any games in the paper mario series but i picked up a copy of 1000 year door 4 days after release. Enjoying it so far. Very funny dialogue and the game clearly doesn't take its self too seriously.

i genuinely just don't get it the combat is incredibly non-engaging, lacking any and all depth (atleast M&L had the pressure of execution, but that's only a factor if you wanna use the terrible special moves TTYD) the story is too simple and rigid for a game like this the actual map traversal is horrible, with backtracking tanking the enjoyment considerably (i fucking lost it when they unironically made you go check every location you've been to with zero differences and no obstacles, all for the least funniest joke ever invented) if you're not absolutely enamored by the dialogue there is nothing in the game worth playing it for besides bare bones stuff like music and visuals (both of which i think they could've done way better)

im so happy i still have my gamecube version. i play that once or twice a year, such a good game, but theyd have to add a TON of stuff to make a switch remaster worth it. i also dont really like the new sound effects and music they went with, it has less charm

People always forget, that backtracking used to be a major selling point of adventure games back then. You see something odd, you learn a new ability and later come back to that weird spot to get a nice reward. Old Zelda games were filled with backtracking and are loved for that by fans.

Not as good as Paper Mario in my opinion. But I do love this game.

I was already an adult when Paper Mario for N64 came out, & have followed the series. TTYD is definitely my fav, followed by SPM and then N64 PM. I didn't love any of the ones after that, but I still bought them at launch and played through them several times. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is on my top 5 favorite games of all time list. It's on that list with games like Dark Souls, & other challenging titles, so it does stand out as different. It's an absolute masterpiece, and despite not being challenging, it manages to be SO fun. It's the only turn-based combat system I actually love. The story & the writing & the art style are superb. It's one of those few games that once it sucks you in, you're just hooked and can't put it down. Anyone who hasn't played it, check it out. Even if you're like me and aren't into typical turn based RPG's. There's nothing typical about this game, it is truly excellent.

You must be pretty young if origami King was your first Paper Mario game honestly the first two are great the rest are garbage
