I love all things science and nature, even the creepy crawlies. The world we live in is truly amazing!
I have always been much more comfortable behind the lens rather than in front of it.
I believe photographs and video prove to be effective time capsules that capture moments in time and preserve them forever. They are a window into a world we might otherwise not see.
I truly believe that beauty surrounds us each and every day. All you have to do is stop and look.
Never stop looking. Always wander.

The Metamorphosis of a Monarch: Caterpillar to Chrysalis Time-Lapse
60 second video of the metamorphosis of a monarch caterpillar into a chrysalis. Time lapse.
I had some cloud cover that made the lighting difficultl and inconsistent, but still managed to capture it.
What surprised me is how fast it happens. I’ve seen them in the beginning and watched them do this usually overnight so I had it in the back of my mind that it must take at least a few hours to do this. However, this little guy fully encapsulated himself less than 20 minutes, probably more like 15 minutes. Pretty amazing!
Filmed with a Nikon Z8 , Sigma 105mm macro lens with FTZ adapter.

We only had a partial eclipse here locally. Still, the 'partly cloudy' forecast made for enigmatic darkened skies as the moon passed in front of the sun and wispy clouds shrouded the sun's light, stealing the golden rays as long svelte fingers of indigo reached downwards. This is a video clip of underwater footage I took on a GoPro Hero 9 while out in the Gulf Stream. I was able to catch some footage of a lone Mahi Mahi (female). There is a bounty of other fish around as well such as trigger fish, almaco jacks, and even a few blue runners in the distance if you look close.
