Christmas lights business truck setup
This is my Christmas light business setup. It doesn’t take much to get going with this business. As long as you can transport ladders then you can do Christmas lights. This is my setup though.

Ferris FW15 timing belt replacement

My timing belt broke after hitting a rod in some tall grass this is a video of how I replaced the timing belt. Sorry I didn’t film while doing it, but this will give an idea of how to do it if you want to take it on yourself. Good luck!

Fixing a Ryobi 18v battery that is not charging
มุมมอง 28K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Fixing a Ryobi 18 volt battery that is no longer charging properly. I have on had it a few months and only used a few times. In other words it should be working perfectly. It is blinking red whenever I plug it into my charger. It should be blinking green to show that it is charging correctly. I was hoping that it just needed a little bit of a kick start so I repeatedly put the battery into the ...
Ferris FW15 deck belt adjustment and tightening

Ferris FW15 deck belt adjustment and tightening. I have a heard a lot of complaints that the deck belt on this mower is loose or has a tendency to come loose. Here is a solution to that problem. I hope this helps. Also, I apologize for calling it the drive belt in this video. I believe it is the deck belt. I hope this helps!
Ferris fw15 review

Here is my review of the Ferris fw15. I go over why I like it and what I don’t. I also compare the toro turf master with this. It seemed like the only mower comparable to this one.

    I have and bought new a Ferris FW15. It does a nice cut but that's about all. Its a pig on a slope bc the handlebar is way to narrow. I have to fill the tank twice to mow ~2/3 of an acre. The adjustment you note is very limited bc of the cheap belts Ferris uses bc they stretch way too much and too soon. I dread the day i will need to change the deck drive belt as it is a POS design. Your video is well done but I'd like to point out that the threaded adjustment shaft is right hand threaded on the right side and left hand threaded on the the left side. With that said you just need to loosen the two jam nuts and turn the shaft towards you to shorten the adjustment stroke. Removal of the tension pivot you show is not needed to adjust the threaded rod.

    • @noworkisbelowyou5338
      @noworkisbelowyou5338 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve never had any problems with Gilbert plugs. I usually wrap them in electrical wire just to make myself feel better, but I’ve never had an issue. I usually use LED lights so they don’t pull as much as incandescent. I’d just say to overdue the protection on them. I don’t leave connections in gutters. I would try to hang them outside of the gutters on clips or something else.

    I would think that the rod length would be adjusted like a tie rod sleeve in the steering mechanism of an automobile... After loosening the lock nuts rotate the rod to change it's length and then retighten the lock nuts.. No need to disassemble anything else unless there was a lot of depth variance from one end to the other... That could be adjusted by doing what is outlined in the video and never need to be disassembled again. Maybe a bit of penetrating oil might would help if it's difficult to turn the rod, and some anti-seize to keep the rod free in the long run. The engagement cable length should be checked at the same time.

      Yep! You are correct. I need to mention that in the video. I had to take mine off to be able to twist it further than I could without taking it off. Really, I should have just replaced the belt when it was that loose.

      First time I broke it, it had 1 hour on it. The second time had a lot of hours. It is designed to break under pressure to prevent the spindles from breaking. A belt is cheaper than a spindle or a deck

    My friend ((( That is very impotent ))) @1:25 That is your brake spindle wheel there is a little brake pad that it slides into it to stop the blades from spinning from 3600 RPM To 0 in 2 seconds .So please don't say that has no purpose it absolutely does have a purpose without that spindle wheel you will have too wait 2 min for them blades to stop spinning .

I use zelle, venmo or any of the other electronic payment methods. I also use take cash and check.

    Haven't had a need to do this on mine yet, but from your video what I can see, there is no need to remove the brake rocker assembly at all. The adjusting rod appears to have lh threads on one end and rh threads on the other. Loosen the two jam nuts and turn the rod. Now if this was toro, then yes, they make things as difficult as possible. Thanks.

    How to get customers? How much do you charge?

    • @noworkisbelowyou5338
      @noworkisbelowyou5338 ปีที่แล้ว

      Craigslist was how I got started. A $5 ad will get you customers. I reached out to clients I work with for mowing. Going door to door with flyers in the neighborhood you want also works. The best thing: once you get your first one, ask them to post on their neighborhood Facebook or Nextdoor group. That will get you a lot of work. I offered someone free take down if they did this. I charge anywhere from $250-$2000. It usually averages about $500 per house. I charge a price to install and then another price to take down. This gives me incentive to go back out and it puts the customer at ease knowing I will come back for another payment. I started at $150 and $50 for take down. I have since gone up. This is just for my labor. If they want me to provide lights I add the cost into the bid. A house usually takes 2-4 hours. As you get more and more customers you’ll be able to charge more. Just play with it and I’m sure you’ll come up with a good price point for your area.

    Glad I re watched this video. I had an original squealing belt for a while, I adjusted it last season and it helped. Started this season with 80 hours on the mower, and after installing high lifts the blades couldn't get up to speed. I put a new belt on and it seemed just as loose, so I adjusted the rod to achieve max tightness. Seemed ok but I could hear the blade speed drop in the thicker grass. No squealing though. I was getting ready to take the rod out to make sure one side wasn't bottoming out before the other when I realized the blade engagement lever cable had a lot of slack. I tightened that up, and now the belt when engaged is not a sloppy mess. Problem solved for now... Thanks for the video, I probably would have overlooked that adjustment for while.

    Yepp, these batteries are infamous for this issue. There are a bunch of other videos that dive deep inside the pack and explain the nitty gritty details. In a nutshell, the BMS (Battery Management System) thinks there is a problem, so it won't let you charge the battery for safety reasons. Mostly it just creates additional battery sales for Ryobi though. There are a few reasons the BMS goes into "shutdown" mode: 1) Overall battery Voltage is too low. (The threshold is approximately 15.0 Volts.) 2) The BMS detects "unbalanced" cells in the series string. (I don't have any reliable info on the threshold for this. Perhaps 0.25 Volts?) 3) Over temperature. (This should AUTOMATICALLY reset itself, but I don't have info on the BMS software programming.) It's fairly easy to remedy this issue though. A quick youtube search will result in dozens of videos that show how to boost the voltage up high enough such that your Ryobi charger will now go ahead and charge your battery. In extreme cases, you need to reset the BMS with a jumper from the "RST" pin to ground for about 10 seconds. Then quickly put it on the charger before the BMS shuts the battery pack down again.

    Your the only guy that I found on the internet that shows you the belt system on these mowers Thank You! Also it's a timed system like that goofy Toro too dangerous should be independent if you hit part of a tree stump or other hard objects the blades could hit each other no good! At least Scag has a 2 blade mower like this but with a independent blade system on timing belt to worry about!

    • @edwardlindsay2306
      @edwardlindsay2306 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand the down side of timed blades but they do cut better and make the deck more compact, I feel it’s worth the risk and the FW15 is far superior to the Scag or Toro/Exmark.
