Thanks to a Subscribe who asked me if I have ever tried a Loop knot. I was impressed not only how it caught fish, but the strength of the Loop Knot. I hung into a brush pile multiple times and straighten the hook instead of the loop knot breaking. I caught some nice crappie doing this comparison video. Bobby Garland VS Berkley GULP (Let The Crappie Decide!)
Nice video I just put on a new he 3-1 can you please tell me what your setting are? Thanks great picture
Very confusing!!!! No clue how you are seeing all these measurements on your screen ( your screen is showing high glare )
Ive been using the bobby garland for quite a long time with good success. Recently i tried the gulp shad and it seemed they were a bit better. However it seems to change day to day. Also the gulp are more costly to use, in that they are more expensive initially, and they dont hold up very well. Sometime just one fish will ruin the gulp minnow.
Saved me! 🍻
I'm glad I found this. I am having the same issues you had and I will be implementing fixes asap. Well done and thanks for posting this video!
Thank you thank you thank you!
When all else fails, thats when i go to the instructions
Which ram mount model did you use? I know it is a 1” ball type. My Lowrance uses a M6x.20x3/4”screw which is metric. I don’t want to order the wrong one. Thank you.
The ram mount I used to attach the base plate to my boat was a “c” mount. The ram mount ball that screws into the side of my transducer was purchased through fishing specialties. I’m not sure of the thread size.
Thank you. I know what to buy and who to call.
Called Specifically and ordered my today. Great information! Thank you.
@@jw5516 you are welcome!
I just think its weird that I cant find an ACTUAL video of how it works on like garmin or lowrance website. But I think you nailed it on how you see it. If you see a fish at the 50 mark, you gotta cast 55 at least to bring the lure at the fish since its goin down in a 45 degree angle, and then the actual bottom starts to count
I appreciate your explanation. Seems logical.
Bloody genius I have the same same prob with my PA14
It’s worked so far, at least I’m not cutting my kayak in half anymore. 🐿
You traded in six mile mountain for the Rockies. Beautiful country. Thank you for sharing the video.
Looks beautiful there ! The fish's colors looked awesome. I bet in person much more vibrant. Hope to go to Colorado some day. I have missed your crappie fishing videos. I am enjoying the new 16 inch HDS Live I bought. It has really made a difference in what I see. How is your 16 pro doing? Went out on Wednesday on Lake Russell. Wind was terrible but the fish were biting. Caught 32. Looks like you had a great trip ! Thanks for sharing.
Great trip out west! I haven’t been crappie fishing in a while, I need to get on the water and put that u it to work. I’m glad you’re enjoying your lowrance! Tight lines! 🐿

Yes sir 351, it is a beautiful place! 👊🐿
You explain side scan better than anybody that I have seen. Keep up the good work.
Hello i just found your channel. Im in Pickens . Looking for some tips for hartwell and the other areas. Haven't had a boat in many years and just bought a used one and getting it setup to go try my luck. Appreciate the video and ill check back in on a local sportsman . 👍✝️🙏💪
Thank you for watching Larry. 🐿
I use a dark background on the 2D. It uses less voltage and it matches the downscan/side scan screen.
How come you, if you run right over it, can see a small sunken boat on the bottom in say 30ft and you can see it on both sides of the sidescan? I can't see that your theory is right either then, although I agree that what they normally teach that sidescan looks like is inaccurate too.
Just bought this pole and got it mounted. Only problem is the ram ball mount still allows it to move up and down with little to no pressure. In forward mode it is tight in its position on the side but can move forward up and down. Did you have this same problem. This couldn’t have been their intent in design? Am I doing something wrong?
I haven’t had that problem, and I have run mine foward, down and perspective angles. Mine rides around on the floor of my pontoon boat when I’m going down the lake and I haven’t had issues. I’m not sure why yours wont tighten up? I’d call fishing specialties and tell them the issue you are having.
@@FishinwithSquirrel thanks so much appreciate your response!
Fixed it ball mount screw turning, thanks
@@johncal9403 awesome, glad you got it fixed, I think you are going to love the setup. Good luck fishing!🐿
43ft is the distance from the transducer in a straight line, not accounting for the depth, so they could be at 0ft depth 43ft away from the boat, or, directly under the boat at 43ft depth.
thanks helped a lot
The area under the boat that isn’t covered by the side imaging beam is very small (approximately 5 degrees to either side of vertical). The conventional down-looking sonar that is built into the side imaging transducer covers the areas below the boat and the Side Imaging Units allow you to view a split screen that will show both 2D coverage and Side Imaging sonar simultaneously.
Thank you for this! You're so right on subtracting the depth of the water? I just asked this question on another video. All the other examples were absolutely baffling and didn't make any sense to me from a mathematical standpoint. I agree with @boydlittou9446 below, the manufacturers really need to step in and explain this.
How would you fix it if your hall snapped and steering wheel spins freely, and does not turn the engine or cable
Hall snapped? Not sure what you are asking but if your steering wheel just spins, I would pull the cable out of the steering gear box and manually move your motor back and forth to see if the cable moves or if it’s your steering box. I didn’t have a steering failure, I was remodeling a pontoon boat and need to remove the helm. You may need to replace the cable and steering box. If you do, you may want to replace it with hydraulic steering.
@@FishinwithSquirrel sorry I meant helm and I plan on replacing all of it, but just do not know how I would get the cable out of it to Pool it all the way out if it is stuck in the helm. It snapped on me and it acts just like a vehicle when you’re steering shaft snaps or comes apart, had no steering at all, but I believe the cable is good.
@@FishinwithSquirrel and is hydraulic steering better? And is it hard to install?
@JohnSanders-bf3xi You should be able to remove the pin and pull the cable out unless it is just too corroded. Ising the steering wheel to remove it is just easier and keeps you from busting your knuckles. If you are replacing it anyway, you could just cut it
@@JohnSanders-bf3xi I have never installed one but I do have a boat with hydraulic steering. It is definitely an upgrade.
Excellent instructions, had it done in seconds
Wtf are you planning on catching? Those reels are 5 times the size of what you need. Lmao!!! A 6500 will catch anything in that lake!!!!
Also illegal to clean your fish on the boat!
No need to clean fish on the boat! Blacks has a fish cleaning house with water wash down and waste barrels. Super nice set up. You should give Blacks Camp a try.
Always be prepared to catch a big fish! The minute you aren’t prepared, you have a Monster Break you off! See Tennessee River video I posted , losing a 1k fish.
That makes more sense....
nicely done
You shouldnt have to subtract anything. You are correct. If that was true then you would have 2 different distances if using a different khz. Because the angle would change in water column. I think im correct lol. Maybe i have questions to. Good video. Ive always thought same as you do about this topic.
you got the plastic on upside down put the hook through the pink side
I’m guessing you have the “Offset Depth” setting turned on.
So overall, what is your opinion on the HD Pro versus your old HD Live? Do you think the Pro is better ? Worth the extra cost? What is better about it? Or Worse? Thx.
Haven’t ran it enough to really give an honest opinion yet. My hds live and carbon ran on 800 gave me excellent images. When I get a little more run time on it I will do a comparison video. 🐿
@@FishinwithSquirrel I think that would be a great idea for a video ! Looking forward to it Squirrel ! I am going to be putting my old HDS 12 live on my bow next week. I am going to see if this can help my find the crappie in the trees. I can use the trolling motor then and see if the 12 finds em ! Those were some good cats you guys caught !
