m3s is the only one i've suffered in PF and man, you're not wrong about the overcomplication bit; feels like it's the whole fight they overcomplicate, with the ten different 'mostly similar' strats with tiny annoying tweaks to them for no reason; in my experience even the advertised strats are slightly wrong half the time. haha i'm glad i'm in a casual-ish static for this tier, because i feel like FRU is going to have a billion groups who go into it with expectations based on m1-4s and that's going to be a nightmare

Been playing ff14 with a keyboard and mouse. I am naturally a console guy who likes controllers but I will have to rehardwire my brain to play with pad which I want to start doing. Just finding time to practice or get used it will take time.

Of all the characters, Bakool Ja Ja and Zoraal Ja are the two that we should be able to relate the most. one of them was bred to be the way he is and the other is an enigma and the direct son of the ruler and both were held to such high expectations and if any of them failed it would make everything for them worse. And the same thing could be said about the WoL, if at any point we had failed we would have let down so many people and the Crystal Exarch held us to such a high pedestal and the timeline where he is from venerates the WoL as a legend. There was a chance for us to bond with the other contestants, instead of focusing on Lamat, we should have travelled with Krile and Erenvile and met the others through the zones and only properly get together once a dungeon or trial would happen. It would also allow us to talk with Bakool Ja Ja and Zoraal Ja and get to know them better and make Bakool Ja Ja's 'redemption' more believable.

The story felt like going through an IRL boring job. A literal job. wtf. Get new writers for the next expansion square Enix lol. Wuk Lamat was written like Naruto but for children. Cringe af.most people who play this game are old teens to adults. Who were target audience- who knows! Not me! What a waste of an expansion. Holy moly.

We're putting a play for the children, giving them the best fountain lightshow ever before we delete them. It's ok, they weren't real people :). The whole thing reeks of absurdity. And as much as I respect bunny mother's decision to unalive herself, did she have the right to delete everyone else? I expected some serious breakdown from Erenville, but there we go. Solved in less than a few seconds with some infantile arguments. No one complained, everything was fine. And don't forget the rainbow at the end as everyone sings in the most hilarious schoolplay style. It felt like a kick to the liver. Wuk Lamat is not the problem of Dawntrail. Koana was irrelevant. The Scions were irrelevant. Why couldn't the "evil brother reveal" be Koana? Not some random lizard no one cared for? It feels horrible one of my favorite seiyuus voices Zoraal Ja and this is the character he got to play. :( So much wasted potential.

As a Bard main, I jumped with joy seeing you put my favorite job in S. I totally agree with you, there's a simple yet satisfying joy keeping up the dots and songs, plus, the party util is always welcome.

Daichi Hiroi should be fired. Straight up. The writing was offensively bad compared to anything before it. I love most FFs, even 13, 15, more recently FF7R + Rebirth, 16. I'll look past flaws if they aren't breaking the experience completely for me, I have a high tolerance for it, I know that some of the best moments in JRPGs require some patience. I've defended the flaws of things like ARR and Stormblood, though I acknowledge they are flaws. I can't defend Dawntrail at all, besides the beautiful work done with the art direction/environmental design/etc. etc. It's squarely the writing + direction in this for me that soured it all. The MSQ is worse than even ARR, easily, after they had slowly crafted one of the greatest long-running game narratives of all time. The Dawntrail MSQ felt cynical of everything that was carefully and lovingly crafted before it, like the writers didn't do their homework, or even cared to, and maybe even resented the idea of doing so. Hiroi's writing felt combative to the player, the prior characters, and even to Ishikawa's more general plot direction. It's like you trust someone to watch your kid for a day and they wind up leaving them out in a hot car for hours until they have a heat stroke. It's such a fucking shame man. It just feels like one more diamond that is just permanently ruined by corporate restructuring/mismanagement. Not alot left in the AAA space. I really wonder if Ishikawa even wanted that supervisory promotion. Tale as old as time, promote your golden goose into a position they aren't fit for/even-fulfilled doing, thinking they'll manage others into profit generators. Misses the point of the creative process completely. Square executives are tanking the company with idiotic decisions like this. I know this all reads harsh, but really, the world is exhausting and endlessly stressful right now for everybody; you put so much time into work/getting by. When you go to relax for a little bit with something you love after doing that all day, only to have it mishandled by people who don't care like you/others did, is just a major bummer. People sense passion. People also will deny that the passion is gone when they have little else to hold onto. I wish that all of the criticism of Dawntrail wasn't lopped in with the transphobic outlash towards the Wuk VA. That should not be happening. There's truths about the writing here that need addressing though if we ever want peaks as high as ShB or EW again, because it's majorly concerning where this is headed compared to everything before it.

Tis a shame, but you can replace Thancred and U-dawg (yep, I call him) with any other random NPCs, and, regrettably, nothing about the present story would change other than 'you dont recognize them'. They are just that not-important. I was okay with that, as I was expecting a slow, 'set the stage', but its poor narrative construction for dang sure.

Every reviewer is saying the same thing, "I dont hate DT, or even the story, but the structure/execution of the story..." and that is absolutely correct. And on the other end there are those that decry any criticism because they read at or under the 'young adult/under 12" reading level of DT's writing and found no issues and liked the story telling. All bets are on SE put no effort into the DT story telling because they will never revisit any of this, save for choice items like 'the key', so nothing needed to be fleshed out, but my worry is that we'll never get anything approaching the caliber of Heavensward or Shadowbringers ever again because these people think DT is equal to those. "10 out of 10, no notes. People with criticisms are wrong, this expansions story is perfect!".

I played summoner since ARR, part of me misses how complicated it used to be.

It is clear that Yoshi-P and his core people being stretched across 14 and 16 made both games suffer something fierce. EW and DT are afflicted due to this being stretched too thin, and 16 players have similar complaints about that game. SQEX are too reliant on Yoshi-P to carry the company, especially in light of other C-Suite decisions that have proven (and continue to prove) deleterious and detrimental to the company and its Brand. I can only hope that bad actors within the company have not taken the opportunity granted by these events to worm their way into positions of power within the company, especially within CBU3, but there are telling warning signs in DT that this may have happened and that concerns me going forward. The writers did not get proper oversight from management, the EN VAs were badly handled, gameplay design is still mostly stagnant, and promises made for over a year (starting at DT's announcement) were not delivered upon. The patches _have_ to over-deliver to compensate for the launch's failure to do make good on this. The Alliance Raids have to be spectacular. Beastmaster has to be mind-blowingly good. Cosmic Exploration has to something new and awe-inspiring. The rest of Arcadion has to satisfy. The new Trial series has to be incredible. The new relics have to be out of left field and not cringe. Hildibrand needs to be funnier than the comedies that inspire it. All of this needs to be tied together by a MSQ extension that doesn't suck harder than Proto-Ozma doing Black Hole in a Baldesion Arsenal run. In short, the A Team needs to be back on the job because the B Team fucked it and Yoshi-P needs to start saying "No" to being asked to bail out yet another SQEX project. Two is enough.

I feel like we needed time away from the Scions, which we were supposed to get after Endwalker. They made it a whole big part of he ending of the Xpac, then Post-EW we just steadily went back, but I figured when we went to DawnTrail, I figured we would be heading off minus the Scions. NOPE, they're there, but they have like nothing to really do.

My problem has always been that I LOVE FFXIV…however every single job is way too complicated with too many moves and having to remember too much. So I’ve mained warrior since day 1 and will continue to do so. Just wish there were more simple classes like that

A huge issue with these dawntrail zones is how they're full of culture tropes and bad voice acting, both of which have been taken to offense by players who are native to south America

if you like complicated, you should have played old summoner my main class went from most complex rotation to easy mode, i do miss the dots and dot spread mechanics, but I'm still gonna keep it as my main

my fix for the story is let wuk lamat be with her people after the attack on her people we team up with bakool and his redemption arc to beat zoraal make sphene an actual hivemind with no real body< who controls people as this evil queen eldritch horror thing then last arc we focus on krille and erenville and the theme is "what makes us who we are is it the soul or is it the memories" with tzhat sphene as a hivemind controlling peoples memories etc would fit in with the wol who also looks into diffrent memories

I thought we were getting a giant tournament arc with thancred and Urianger as potential fights throughout the story. The winner being the one crowned dawnservant...wtf did we actually get? Maaaannnn i wanted tournament arc and I liked Wuk Lamat...

I would even take Dragon Sight if they made into a Dance Partner-like skill where you'd apply it to a partner at the beginning of a Duty and then whenever you enter Life of the Dragon you and your partner get the buff for the duration. Also I know a lot of people are not feeling the removal of Eyes because it makes Mirage Dive (and High Jump by proxy) feel like nothing else but just damage buttons. They had a purpose they served in progressing us closer to our burst phase but now that we just get our burst every 60secs by just simply hitting Gierskogul, it takes away some of the fun of High Jump/Mirage Dive. So I wonder if a fix to that could be to revert DRG back to getting eyes through Mirage Dive, and then to remedy the issue of "how does DRG get to their burst early in the fight like everyone else?" just sorta combine Reaper's Arcane Circle secondary effect and Viper's Serpent's Ire, so that when Dragoon uses Battle Litany it grants them a free pass to Life of the Dragon. Not necessarily granting them two eyes because that could lead to overcapping and that seems like a situation that they're moving away from in DT, so just give us a state where its as if we have both eyes. That could then potentially lead to situations where we can do back-to-back Life of the Dragons, though. So idk, there might need to be further balancing in that case, potentially. I guess Dragoon could be the one DPS class allowed to suffer the dreaded overcap as a counter-balance to prevent double Life of the Dragon? idk

I cancelled my subscription. It was that bad.

I hated the Cowboy Zone so much. The only thing I liked was the visuals. By the time I got there, I was so done that my ability to care was just shut off. I had to grit my teeth through it to get back into the story. It was so fucking bad. Don't get me wrong the story is fucked in general, but that part was the worst part for me.

39:30 I feel you there. I started playing in endwalker and didn't even know what savage was back then. Got dragged into it by some fc members and cleared all 5 ultimates after the last EW tier. And this tier felt so much easier with all this experience. Got an easy week 1 clear as well. Still a bit baffled though that there were no dps check at all. (And i am saying this as someone that doesn't have a 100% perfect rotation plus we even had several deaths and still didnt even see enrage)

I still havent finished the tier but what I can say is that this I believe this is the easiest raid in quite some time or ever, if you're in a static. Since it has been said that this tier is so easy all kinds of people are trying it in PF. Logs aren't everything but when two people in your PF have single digit parses after multiple kills in normal raid or havent completed the normal modes at all you're going to hit enrage. There is a lot of dead weight hoping to get carried through savage and it just doesnt work like that. PF has been brutal.

I have a completely different experience. Pf was hell! M1s prog 5 hours, rekill 12 hours 😅

Oh man, M2S is walling me rn. I'm really only going to get one more chance to clear it this week on Monday but hooooly, Got one pull with enrage at .5% and never got close to that again. Tilted out my mind in PF with this one.

It's FF8 all over again. They went all-in on the main character at the expense of every other character in the class, and if the player doesn't connect, there's nothing there for you.

o/ began to prog only after week 1, still working on my M1s clear... 😅 didnt get much time to play but I gotta say that the fight is fun to tank, as my first savage tier ever, M1s does feel like a fair entry point

Hey Vit, good video I just have some points I would like to make. For the M3S Fuse position you only need to be there for the pop, otherwise you are free to do your positionals... no real need to make everyone else adjust for you. Also kinda funny how you praise the first "group" you found and did reclears with :) almost like having a static hehe, but yeah I get if you wanna be spontaneous on when to raid but that is really the only benefit I see for PF over a dedicated static. In terms of DPS I think savage shouldn't be tuned to people who are not gearing and don't execute their rotation up to a certain standard especially in W1, that's why you get more gear and then you can meet the DPS check but skipping mechanics on fights especially on a last fight on mostly crafted gear is really not up to the usual standard.

Yeah about your point of really feeling the improvement you make in this game when you have several savages and ultimates under your belt - I felt that. Was my first week 1 as well and it really almost felt like smooth sailing in comparison to when I began. I was honestly surprised and shocked. Baring a few hairpulling instances and being stuck for too long at one fight, but nobody is perfect right. It all really prepares you for the challenges this game throws at you. Super satisfying. Nothing is impossible or too challenging, everything can be learned relatively quickly and then it just feels like a homerun everytime. The gamers you meet at week 1 or the first few weeks really help a lot as well, especially at the more tougher enrages.

M2S is really fun on picto, outside of fighting for my life during the bee lines (help me)

I just finished EW and haven't got to DT. from my perspective, FFXIV is a really good story with a really horrible trash collecting minigame that you have to play for 300 hours to be able to enjoy the story.

It's very tough out there indeed...
