Friendly reminder that Allied and Centurio Seals from early game hunts can net you a decent pile of Aetheryte tickets for free teleports. Getting particularly nice as we travel farther and farther, and costs rising.
White scrips will go away in Dawntrail and current white scrips will convert to purple at some rate. Purple scrips will be used immediately for crafting mastery books and regional folklore books, as well as for grade 11 crafting and gathering materia. So if you don't care about being a cutting-edge crafter or gatherer, you can use your scrips on day one to buy a dozen or so grade 11 materia which you can immediately flip for decent coin.
I'll be doing DT MSQ as BRD but I'll be leveling Pictomancer alongside so for Picto two Khloe WT books per day + 6 Arkasadora Tribal quests per day! I always level up all of my dps jobs 1st then Tanks + Healers via Duty Roulette + Dungeons Spam.
The beginning of an expansion is probably the best time to have bicolor gemstones because it's the only time that mob drop materials are actually rare for the entire expansion and it's the easiest way to get them. Even if you don't craft, they sell for a lot so for anyone that wants some ez gil capping them beforehand is not a bad idea. Even if you plan to do a lot of fates, you will simply just get more since the cap is being increased to 1500 and you'll be spending them as you go. Riding maps can be nice early xpac too before you have flying. Not saying you personally should cap them but just making a note for others because it's pretty damn handy and I regretted not having them capped on Endwalker release.
One of my personal prep tasks that I don't really see people talk about is that I'm trying to make sure all my retainers have as good of gear as I can get them (without getting sweaty for it) so that way when we can start leveling them again, they'll be able to go do any new missions they get which will probably have new rewards. That and I like having my trust leveled up so I can use them to level/get items from new dungeons without any worry about queues, bad item drop rng, or bad loot rolls. Otherwise I spend a little time here or there getting those aetheryte tickets so I can get some free teleporting when the price is higher than I like
Just started the game and was like crap I have to speed run the whole game before launch now I realize I wanna enjoy the game only thing I’m working toward is hitting level 80 for the new job
For me my prep work I'm working on is Cap currencies Get the rest of the Manderville relics and Splendorous crafter and gatherer tools As for when expansion launches, I'm unlocking both jobs and then going through duty support to learn how to play each job, then after doing the dailies, taking my butt to Zadnor and level grinding. Then when both are level 90 then I'll do msq.
Don't forget that if you have any glams bought from the online store you can store those in your armoire now helping to free up some space in the glam dresser.
Very helpful. Gives great glimpse into how to approach game tbh. Alot I hadn't even considered - so easy to get super lost in all the currencies & worlds. Like... Wtf do I do? Ive been Bard + MSQ only since starting. I just started different stuff (fishing, healing & melee/NIN) and I feel like playing a whole new game even before expansion 😅. So very cool hearing about the diff leveling approaches you mentioned
Dungeon, comm, and a leveling roulette to get the roulette bonus and chloe journal give 1-2 levels full level, if you hit those and you wont hit the bottleneck around x5-6 levels
I've never cared much about Gil I played from arr to endwalker usually hovering around 500k to maybe 2 mil. I only recently started making some Gil (leves go brrrr). I have a small house with some decent amount of decor inside, and about 15 mil Gil to start Dawntrail with. Realistically I'll probably end up using it all on gatherer and crafter materia.
8:00 they added augmented scaevan gear for reaper and sage, so having 1200 stockpiled for the augmented cryptlurker weapons for viper and picto is def still worth doing even if you grabbed the rest of the gear ahead of time.
27:05 I have a feeling that grinding PVP would be a better way to spend time pushing a job to a next level than running around to all the diff side quest locations. I'm actually really excited to see how Viper and Picto play in PVP anyway, so win/win.
So what do I do with all my gear myself and my retainers are full of items either for other classes and normal color items from quest rewards so a lot of it won’t go into the chest in the room

When you unlock the dt leveling dungeons, rerun them a few times. Get your MCH to take the first-time bonus
