I do not own the films from which I show clips in this video. All clips are used to demonstrate points in the video, which is a review/critique/analysis and does not present the film in its entirety. The clips are edited to short portions of the films and most feature narration on top of them -- they are used to make points about the film. The analysis is for the purpose of commentary and criticism about the films, which makes it Fair Use by both TH-cam and Federal Copyright Law standards.

I love this analysis. For someone who has faced death and decided to jump back into the fray once more, to live on despite realizing every day may be a battle, to find something to live made more precious by recognizing every day could be our last - there is so much to this film that hit home the first time I watched it and that you've captured in your analysis that resonates so well. Thank you.

The last 4 pirates all tried to out silly the first one. They use the same jokes over and over again that made the first one great like whys the rum gone. They even tried ro recreate the back stabing that was perfected in the first one but just wasnt the same. The curse of the black pearl is head and shoulders above the rest of them. Even barbosa was a far better villain than blackbeard was and i think something is wrong with that idea.

There is not supposed to be a person to root for. It is dumb to look for anyone to root for. It seems like all the characters are bad people and that is the point of the show. The show is almost like Arrested Development and you are supposed to be entertained by how messed up all the family is.

Amazing Essay. One thing I would like to add is Francis is the way he is because of his mother. When we meet the mother, we see that she has the same controlling/overbearing methods that we have seen Francis use, like "Can we all agree on that" and ordering for everybody. This to me means that since a young age, Francis has been noticing the abandonment and absence of his mother and trying to fill in the hole for his siblings. And of course, the way she behaves is the way Francis assumes every adult behaves and should behave and hence he becomes overbearing. Francis was clearly hit hardest by the absence of their mother because probably he was the only one old enough to understand and then desperately trying to not let his siblings feel the same thing. This is also why he is the one who plans to meet their mother, because clearly everyone knows that there is something missing and Francis thinks it is the presence or at least closure from their mother. This is also why he seems to have abandonment issues and steals the passports as he is afraid of people leaving because of his mother.

Funny thing is... I agree. I've changed how I view the show in rewatching it again, and with it ending. To me, what's now most meaningful is that seeing them as flawed humans inherently shows why they shouldn't be in positions of so much power.

In the ending scene Misaki is in Korea. The red Saab (now) has Korean plates. I took it to mean that Yuske was next in residency in Korea. The movie started with him going away on a trip to Russia. Interesting how the multilingual production of Uncle Vanya could lead to a much broader audience across Asia. .....Or maybe he just gave Misaki the car.

Excellent Video on my most recent favorite movie. Some thoughts and questions I have: 1) Honestly in my interpretation, what you said I think proves how even if black and white is minimal it’s subtle presence has lead to this. 2) How can a movie have a theme surrounding pessimism in the world have the idea that there is “no good and bad”. Wouldn’t pessimism imply the opposite?

The first 4 movies were great, with a few issues here and there. I hope they release extended versions with the deleted scenes. But the 5th movie is complete and total junk, made for the brain dead millenials and zoomers who only have interest in artificially created social justice issues with an attention span of a gold fish and inability to analyze complicated dialogue. Or maybe I'm just getting old?

Brilliant analysis. The most powerful moment of the show was the genuine unification of the siblings which has been subverted and sabotaged by the control freak patriarch Logan all their lives and it’s not even related so much as all if them being betrayed by Logan as it is about them bonding after seeing Kendall is at emotional rock bottom after nearly drowning possibly on purpose in the pool and then discovering the biggest reason for his pain is the fact that he has to live with the guilt of being involved in the accident that killed the young waiter at Shiv’s wedding unknown to Roman and Shiv. Also he explains that because his total breakdown of relations with Logan has Logan on high alert to Kendall being dangerous to him, that he is bound to face justice as up until that point his father only knew about the accident and had it covered up. Also totally agree that essentially Tom is not a bad guy and comes from a family and region with good old fashioned values and not giving up on Shiv despite all the vitriol he gets from the family and Shiv herself and realising that his union with Shiv presents itself with far more obstacles and insecurities than any privileges he receives marrying into one of America’s richest families.

I guess I've just wanted someone to explain this movie to me. Why is Superman mad that Batman kills when he kills? Does he not like drawn out death but quick death? Is that why? Why does Batman still kill after realizing that he's become like Joe Chill? I get that part of that scene is realizing Superman's humanity, but still, he's still just trying to find someone to kill in response to his parent's murder. Why does he find all men good after an alien dies for a woman, whom he states as being his world? Because he sees an alien willing to die for humans, he thinks this redeems humanity? And if Batman is redeemed, why does he immediately send Lex to Arkham because he knows it will cause him harm, and that he has, "Friends expecting him..." And what was Lex's plan? To see Superman kill Batman and show the world that Superman kills? Superman already kills without Lex's help. I just don't get this movie. I want to so desperately. I've wanted to since 2016.

      1. We see Clark say he didn’t kill the men in Africa to Lois. 2. Batman realised that Superman is human like all of us, he has a mother. He can now see how much he truly cares about humanity, so Batman stopped trying to kill him, he instead try’s to prevent another similar scenario to his, by now saving Clark’s mum, there shouldn’t be another Batman, the world instead needs a Superman. Bruce still thinks he can’t get out of his habit of killing, he knows he’s doomed, however he doesn’t want Superman to become like him. Only after his death does he realise that he has to be better, as there is no Superman no more. 3. Bruce sees Superman as more human than himself, compare their lives and see who has the most normal. 4. The “friends”are just Bruce’s villains , we know Bruce is redeemed as he doesn’t brand Lex like he’s done previously to other criminals. 5. Lex’s whole motive is to tarnish Superman’s image even more, and to kill him as he thinks Superman is more powerful than him, before the existence of Superman he was in control, he simply has a power/napoleon complex after the abuse from his father. 6. I think the only problem is that you thought Superman killed in this movie, when in reality he didn’t, he simply took the terrorist away from Lois’s, it may look like he killed him, but as Clark said, he didn’t kill anyone.
