In this video you can see he workhorse Ashtabula/Defiance delivering stone to the Bay Aggregates Dock in Bay City MI July 31st 2024. They were delivering stone from the mine at Calcite. Is that a frieghter or a barge? When was it made? Just out of curiosity, what is your least favorite frieghter. I know which one your favorite is.
@@ericlaesch2583 barge was built in the 80s for ocean service and then sold onto the lakes and converted to a self unloading barge. Least favorite would probably be one of the equinox class boats from algoma. They just starting to all look the same.

where can i find a schedule of ships due on the river?
@@9875z well there isn’t really a schedule anywhere of arrivals but check MarineTraffic regularly and see if anything is on its way in!

@@danielmorris3687 it’s the ships workboat, when they came up to the sides they were grabbing lines to tie up on the dock.
You ain't kidding, Sam isn't wasting any time pulling that 180 and hauling ass to the Lake. 😯
@@danielmorris3687 yeah they were going around 6-7 knots which in a tight channel with not much room for error is very fast! You can tell the captain is a regular visitor!

That first one is one fugly boat. Nice place, the Soo. I lived there for 3 years back mid 70s and spent a fair amount of time ship watching. BTW, if you ever make it to Germany, I highly recommend Keil. One end of the canal to Hamburg, traffic (all kinds) day and night
