My name is Sean Newstead and I created this channel because I wanted to create videos that are Daily Driver focused, and Tracking/Racing with a vehicle that is an all in one. My 2016 WRX is my winter car, my race car, my cruising on a nice night car, my take the kids to school and play dates. By Subscribing to this channel you can expect weekly video uploads that are focused on new modifications, car detailing, maintenance, modification reviews/overviews, and custom DIY's.
My goal is to make my car lighter and control the engine bay heat transmission to my intake system. It needs to be: Reliable, Safe, Built for Tracking, Low Weight, Heat Controlled, Resistant to snow and weather, all while increasing the horsepower of my car. My 1 and 4 year old kids like helping their dad make his car faster so that they can get to places faster.
I am located in Albert, Canada and am always happy to answer questions. Feel Free to reach out to me on social media.

Finally A FA20 DIT Engine Build for the 2015 WRX.
In this video Ill Strip the remaining accessories off the OEM short Block and begin Transferring them over to the IAG stage 3 Closed deck. Ill Also clean the parts that need to be transferred with the 3M Rolox brushes, and a flat head screw driver (Narrow head works better than anything). I then install the KillerB Oil pickup for the FA20DIT. I Apply gasket maker Grey to the Water pump assembly and the Oil pan and torque the bolts in the proper order and spec.

So you had to reseal your timing chain cover? How did you do it exactly? Mine is still leaking after resealing.
Kinda confused on the Hime joint adjustment. You just left it hand tight and that was good enough or do you use a wrench and actually tighten them up with those setting you measured out?
Fr 44 pound ft/lbs It won't be much for the bolts 🤔
Good Job fr 👍🙏
Thank you sir
I just had one more question, sorry After you suck out the old fluid from the reservoir, I noticed you didn’t refill with new fluid, nor pre fill the line before screwing the cap on and pressurizing. Since you’ve done this so many times with success, I would assume you didn’t have an issue with putting air into the system before the fluid reaches the reservoir.. Unless you did? Furthermore, do you think it would have any negative effect if I were to pre fill the reservoir and line with new fluid prior to pressurizing? Just don’t want to make changes to the process if it works but my brain is telling me I should pre fill to avoid any unwanted air entering. What are your thoughts?
Thank you for the helpful video and prompt responses. I just ordered my Motive kit this evening.
Yes it is better to fill the reservoir with new fluid first but as long as you have a couple of bottle of fluid in the motive tank it will self fill and balance out anyways. Such that if the reservoir is almost empty while your pumping the motive it will put fluid into the reservoir
@@snewstead1388 thanks, I received my power bleeder and was able to get my fluid changed. Such a simple process. Thanks again for the vid
The only thing I would do differently is order the aluminum cap instead of the standard plastic. The hose swivels on the aluminum cap, and it does not on the plastic one. This made screwing the cap onto the reservoir a little tricky as the hose would bind up before it was tight.
Hello, do you have long term experience with the Wilson’s fluid for two years on same fluid? I’m looking for a higher temp fluid for my car but I was hoping to keep the 2 year oem interval through winters, etc. Thanks
@@One2handbrake I did use the wilwod for a couple years straight. Now I use Endless RF-650 brake fluid. It’s got a much higher wet temp and it’s approved for winter ice racing. Endless is the best brake fluid period
@@snewstead1388 my phone auto corrected to Wilson lol.. Anyway, I have heard good things about Endless, but unfortunately I don’t think it meets the 116 standard. For warranty purposes I need a fluid that meets specs Subaru calls for. Need to be dot3/dot4 and meet the 116 requirement. Just trying to find something better than Subaru dot 3 but nothing that will attract water too quickly.
@@snewstead1388 when you say you used Wilwood 2 years straight, is that without flushing it and you still had good results? That sounds like what I’m looking for. No dreaded clutch squeak? Thx
@@One2handbrake no sorry I didn’t leave it in my system for 2 years straight as I track my car and replace fluid after 2 events. I think if u didn’t track ur car then leaving it in your system for 2 years would be ok.
@@snewstead1388 copy that, I will be occasionally tracking it but not too often as of now.(unfortunately) Might be once every 6 months
I have a 2022 EXL and I've been wondering how would the 2020 19" Accord Sport rims fit being an inch wider? Lolol this proves it would be a GO, thanks! Makes a world of a difference, and those 20's are beautiful btw! But I love love those blades on the Accord Sport from 2018-2021
I do like the accord rims too. I would only double check the weight capacity of the sedan rims on a van? That would be my only concern
I bought some black rims also. Didnt want the tires it.came.with but the guy wouldnt sell it.without the tires. U know.if 235/40r18 tire is.safe to drive with the wheel so thin like yours? Serious.question bro please lmk
which one did you ultimately decide on?
I think I saw it, but did your 1107 adapter come with 2 o-ring gaskets? If so, which one did you use?
Nice cuts, What mods and power are you at when installed this?
Thanks just what needed to know, what's your long term review in the o ring holding up?
I raced on a circuit track with these and have used them ever since through Canadian winters. To this day they are 100% leak free and working perfectly.
Thanks, that's good to know.
Good video it helped resolve. Issues I had with bleeding my Rotora kit on the VB. I had a hell of a time with the wife bleeding the brakes correctly. That pump and your video nailed it. Thank you! 🎉
My buddy gave me his rear differential carrier for free so I’m going to throw it on but just here to see how it goes
Im looking at buying this bleeder kit today. In the event you do have to add fluid to the master cylinder while bleeding, do you just disconnect the power bleeder (thereby de-pressurizing the system) and add it to the brake reservoir directly or do you keep the bleeder connected to the brake reservoir and just add the brake fluid to the Power Bleeder itself (and subsequently re-pressurize to 15psi)? Very helpful video thank you for the content!
The simple answer is yes. The easiest thing is to just add 2 bottles of brake fluid in to the pressure tank and be diligent about how much ur bleeding out of the brake lines. Adding more to the pressure tank is safe and if u have lots left over after just pour it back in the bottle it came from incase anything happens for later.
@snewstead1388 Apologize for necro. I'm considering doing SS pistons on a variety of different calipers (Haven't made a final decision on my route yet) rather than going full race calipers. Did you find any significant different after swapping to SS pistons? What were the changes you noted? Any downsides?
I tested these with about 10 different track days. The only benefit SS pistons have is not transferring heat to the fluid like aluminum would. The bigger issue, the OEM brembos use a rubber dust boot. Even with the so called high temp dust boots, they fried on me causing me to do full caliper rebuilds every track day. I’d recommend finding a caliper that doesn’t use outer rubber dust seals if you intend to track the car. The only downside side with this option is u can’t use them in the winter and they will be pricey. I ended up going with Endless GT 6pot on my front and keeping with OEM brembos with ss pistons and Sti vented rotors on the rear. I also ducted the fronts. Brembos aren’t worth it if you’re going to regularly track.
@@snewstead1388 Perfect feedback. Thank you so much.
With the combo of the diff carrier and diff bushing, how’s the driving feel?
Step 2. Throw mudflap in the trash, those are hideous
All I have to say is Stahlbus bleed valves
Hi dude. How much you camber yo give to the rear tires? I also race my subaru
Every car guy that needs to have an odyssey in their lives salutes you sir! Great info. 🫡
they didn’t give you any 3m tape to help that?
did u replace the head casting plugs?
A quick tip, never jack from a brake disk, always jack from the ball joint.
Just did a turbo blanket on my '21, but seeing some delay spooling, which might be attributed to the seal between manifold and turbo (the only connection I didn't check). Figured I might as well upgrade my header while I'm down there, and this Killer B or Grimmspeed is what my tuner is recommending. Going with the Killer B for the 321 tubing and Swain coating. Probably going to do the install myself, then bring back to the tuner. This will give me a chance to double-check that the turbo blanket (Cobb) isn't interfering with my wastegate actuator. I appreciate the studded snows. These cars are amazeballs in snow with appropriate tires!
Hey man , so that kit you bought , the coils won’t work on either front or back Brembos ? I’m confused bc the kit says M5-M12 unless it’s the pitch that’s wrong ?
thanks for sharing. no brake no t able to drive
I put the transmission in 5th gear, but when I try to break loose the crank pulley bolt I seem to be rotating the crank backwards. Any thoughts what the problem might be or what I’m doing wrong?
Put ur car on the ground .
@@snewstead1388 All four tires are on the ground and parking brake is engaged. I’ve tried putting it in 5th gear and several other gears, but the crank wants to rotate backwards every time I try to loosen crank bolt.
I have Ohlins on my 2018 WRX and my Hayabusa. Once you use real quality suspension then you won't use anything else. Now I just need the STI brembos to finish the build.
engine never finished smh
How did you get the black part of your bumper glossy?
Beautiful job man by chance got the link for the set of the hilicoil !?
Are the hub rings required? Or will the bolts be enough
Brilliant, thank you. Just one note, on my vehicle (Brembo) it says in the manual to bleed outside/ inside in that order.
Will you finish the build process
Meaning like new episodes to come this was a very helpful tutorial
Thanks for this bro been looking for someone to actually weigh these 2 piece rotors lol any chance you remember the part#? I’m wondering if that’s the same rotor for the 08-17 sti too or if it’s different since you have the older chassis gold brembos?
Were there any special tools you needed for this engine rebuild?
E14 socket for the rods. That's about it other than tools that would just make some things easier.
No rubbing in the rears? Just put 20 x 9 rim with a low profile tire on my 2019 Odyssey I had to raise the back by two inches to avoid rubbing.
every bushing, link, and arm replacement on these cars seems like they are all pains in the buttisimos...IF ONLY Subaru went that extra bit and put solid rubber bushings in these places, not only would there be less parts to buy, but the cars would have a more solid, planted, communicative feel. however the name of the game is "a soft cushy test drive ride", so bushings with compliance are used instead of solid rubber. My GTI was like that, but much better after solid rubber bushings were installed in various places.
should i re use the timing components on my built block? they only have 20k miles on them.
Yes absolutely. Mine had about the same and I have been running it on my built block for over 10k km now
Are there any more videos with the van outside with side shots?I would like to see if they hang outside the fender at all. Are you going to do anything with suspension?
Are there any more videos with the van outside with side shots?I would like to see if they hang outside the fender at all. Are you going to do anything with suspension?
Can you share if the swaintech coating resulted in a noticeable drop in underhood temps? did you had additional thermal insulation installed in addition to that? Curious as i am contemplating the same coating. thx
Hit us with the update put back videos for 2023🙏
Sup sean, nice video. Any update on the build?
Sir any chance to give me a list of all parts u have used? I want to do the same thx 🙏
Amateur work - use a vice to hold the part so you can drill and tap as close to perpendicular as possible - this is the most crucial part that requires precision. If the thread is cocked sideways - the flange will not be 100% flush with the hub and the bolts can easily back out through thermal and vibration transfer.
Sound like a hater
Good luck on the build. My 2018 WRX with a STI trans swap IAG stage 3 extreme with stage 4 heads and stage 2 cams and a ETS 6466 just put down 740hp on E74. Boy it's a money $#@&en pit. Now I'm doing 265s and coilovers so I stop sliding all over the road.
Btw my car was a 3 year build. 20k on the factory engine before it came out. May the force be with you.
@@MrGsxrme Should definitely post some videos. Car sounds nasty. I've done basically everything on my car except for fueling, built block and a bigger turbo. I have a 2018 STI trans on my 2016 WRX. DSS axles front and rear, OS Giken LSD.
This is the first video I've seen the dual bleeder for the brembos AND including the clutch since it's on the same master cylinder. Good content. 👍
