Flying Your D Loop Exercise
Practice getting your D Loop to travel OUT and around into position. Learn to watch your D Loop come into position.
1. Pull the Skagit head out and hold the sink tip in your bottom hand.
2. Move the rod tip outward and fly the D Loop around behind your opposite shoulder. Don't let the D Loop touch the water.
3. End with your fly rod in the "firing position" for the forward cast.
4. WATCH your D Loop come into position. Make a mental note of a spot behind your shoulder and try and hit it with your D Loop.

Practicing getting your anchor set correctly will improve your spey casting. Short Skagit heads make setting the anchor easy. 1. Start with the line on the dangle, rod tip on the water. 2. LIFT the tip to a 45 degree angle. 3. Keep rod tip high, move the top hand upstream and skate the line upstream 4. Drop the rod tip and flop the line to the water in front of you. 5. Steady Rowing Workout
มุมมอง 1.2K6 ปีที่แล้ว
A 15 minute “Steady-Row” rowing workout at 30 SPM. Add a few minutes of warm-up and cool down before/after. Row your way across scenic Upper Payette Lake in central Idaho’s mountains while you listen to some classic CCR tunes. I like rowing to CCR-a steady tempo and always great music! For this workout I chose 4 songs that have the same tempo. Check out their “Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits” a...
Slow Motion double spey with 45-degree rod angle
มุมมอง 3K7 ปีที่แล้ว
A double spey cast with a higher sweep angle. The higher sweep angle is often easier to learn as your rod naturally comes around into the firing position.

Super SlowMo Cack Handed Skagit Double Spey
มุมมอง 3.3K10 ปีที่แล้ว
Cack handed double spey Skagit style. Slowed way down so you can watch the white mouse, outward loop and D loop.
There is a reason this is one of your most highly viewed videos: this is one of the best rowing workout videos to watch, and match pace to, for those of us on indoor rowing machines. Hope you make more like this. Thank you for making this and posting it online.
This is an awsome rowing video. I wish there were more like this. Canyons and the rapids make it super exciting.
Perfect. Just what I needed for my new Waterrower nice and slow?
what kind of boat are you rowing - looks like something I might like to have - I have a very nice indoor rowing machine, but like the idea of being outside in the warmer weather - thanks for the video!
perfect cast
sweet
sweet cast!
Great video
This video is a great help to me. As another view noted it helps with focus and building up strokes. I also appreciate that this video is silent, great for HOH/Deaf folks like me. Thanks.
Perfect workout! Highly recommend it! Waiting for new videos.
Thank you for uploading these videos! I row at home (in the desert) and these videos remind me of my favorite places in the PNW (where I was raised).
Cardio is Key! I work as a Gearboatman for WWRE and HCR, learned that a combo of strength and precise technique along with a good V02 Max goes a very long way.
Thank you! Beautiful row
Thanks for sharing your trip!
I row on a local lake every chance I get (inflated raft with oar locks). I have a machine at home for the unsuitable days (wind/rain/cold PNW). I use this video at home and wish you would do more of these on different lakes or other water that allows me to watch your elbows and match mine with yours. I love it. I have a hydraulic piston on mine that I also twist to higher settings along with the faster repetitions to increase the resistance. I've been exercising most of my life, and at 60, I have finally found the one thing that lets me know that there is still a fun way to do this from season to season. Thank you for your work! Oh, now if I could figure out how to make the indoor rowing machine fun for my dog... (ha!)
that's a helluva gym!
I love rowing outdoors! Having the video helps bring back that feeling.
Yeah! 58F x-ray tech rowed in the morning and when I got home from work. Doing weightlifting as well. Went all the way through both videos. I remember when three minutes on my rower used to whip my butt. Not anymore! Whooop! Major thanks!
Keep On Rowin! I'm working on gathering some more footage. Seeing if I can combine the cadence-based approach with moving water. A bit tricky.
Finished entire video for first time today. Feels great!
Keep on rowin, C!
Wow I love this video! I also stayed focused trying to match my rowing with yours. This is awesome! Im going to use this everyday till I can get through the whole thing. Yes different intervals, harder too. Maybe I will get that Oculus Gear too. I will be in shape in no time. I have seen other videos where I cannot see the rower. I think its very important to be able to see the rower take the strokes. It helps me focus so much better than just watching the hull cut through the water. Thanks!
Glad to hear it's helping! Check out my Hell's Canyon video. It has more interesting scenery, however, the interval's don't exactly match the rower's cadence because of the moving water. Let me know which you prefer, and Thanks for watching. Keep On Rowing! (Hell's Canyon Interval Workout th-cam.com/video/vZeNkHhpqGA/w-d-xo.html )
Thank you for the videos. Our household wants more :)
You're welcome, Robbie! What do you want to see?
More of the live interval rowing videos like this one and the Goose Lake one, it makes for a much more enjoyable rowing session :) thanks again
Thanks this really helped keeper me focused on the rowing machine. Will definitely use it again.
Good to hear! Working on some new videos. Should they be harder? Easier? Different intervals?
