Guess that Disney Character from Kid Doodles
มุมมอง 4813 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a fun game to play on your own or with family or friends. 21 animated Disney characters are slowly uncovered as you try to correctly guess who they are. The game is made challenging by the fact that all of the characters have been drawn by kids. The first segment of the video explains the rules, the rest is fun-filled guessing. This is perfect activity to throw on the TV and play with f...
Elephant Toothpaste Volcano
มุมมอง 91K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, we first construct a volcano out of paper mache. We then simulate an eruption with elephant toothpaste. Our first volcano is smaller, using only 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and yeast as our catalyst. Our 2nd volcano is much bigger, and so is the eruption. We use 35% Hydrogen Peroxide and Potassium Iodide as our catalyst - far more epic. Recipe for paper mache: -1 part flour to 1 part wa...
Demolishing a Lego Castle with a PVC Trebuchet
มุมมอง 1.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I begin with a quick demonstration of the trebuchet. After which, I go over the basics of a trebuchet, then build a Lego castle. Once the castle is complete, we begin the siege, launching tons of golf balls. Will the castle withstand the the siege? Will the mini figures survive? Here is the link to the video tutorial on how to construct this trebuchet: th-cam.com/video/RN7e4n6coh8/w-d-xo.html M...

I go over the materials, measurements and process of building a trebuchet out of PVC. This trebuchet can launch golf balls 75 feet! I also explain the physics behind this medieval machine of war. If you're looking for a fun activity, or the means to construct an efficient trebuchet, this is a great tutorial.

This is great! I was thinking about some kind of trebuchet design to launch tennis balls for my dog, and this is such an easy design to build. I've actually already got most of the PVC parts laying around that I've salvaged from other projects to build this. Thanks for sharing the weight ratios, that'll help me adjust for the weight of tennis balls.

I just checked the prices at my local lowes and the cost of the pvc is about $100.00 not including the glue. or the 1" pipe. Even online at the plumberssupply it's about $70. Way to pricey for a art project. I think building the frame out of 1x2x8s ($4 per) would be a better way to go. Using pvc for the arm makes sense. I've been thinking about using a golf club shaft ($1 at Salvation army). Just wondering if the flex would result in increase velocity of the projectile. I think a simple spacer ($2) through the end of the arm to suspend the weight on a rope would be better. This would decrease the MOI of the weight. The weight could be a bucket/pail full of rocks.

Great video! It's so cool seeing the projectiles tear apart the castle in slow motion, it looks surprisingly realistic! Great Lego castle build by the way, it looks like it's a fairly modular setup? If it's anything like how you've done the PVC forts, I'd be very interested to know more about that castle💜

Fantastic video! I love how you approach this as a large-scale building toy, that's so cool! I wonder if you could bring all the pieces you need to a field and assemble your structure there in a reasonable time frame? Might be good for parties or nerf wars

This was a great idea to help us get started on our own DIY PVC kit. Thank you so much! Since I just did it, I thought I'd share some details from our experience. I spent about $150 at Home Depot, not including tools since I already had those. It's really easy to use the cutter on 1/2" pipe even if you have no experience. Just take your time getting it lined up before each cut. You generally don't have to work to hard to get these pieces in or out. A little twist is all it takes. The hardest one could be to get a small connector out. A pair of vice grips can't hurt if you have one handy. But even some slip joint pliers should work well enough. Again, just use them to get it twisting and it should come out pretty easy. You shouldn't even need to pull it out. I bought fittings that I could in bulk, and I overbought including Elbows and Couplings that aren't used in this project but that we might use in the future. Keep in mind that if you build with Couplings, the "doubling" of sizes won't quite work since the connectors were based on using Tees. It probably won't matter much if you just use one here or there where you're missing the size you need, but don't make a habit of using them. I bought 20 lengths of 1/2" Sch. 40 PVC pipe. I used the exact measures given in the video and here's what I got out of it. The sizes are really good so that you end up with very little waste even if you don't plan that hard. Out of 2,400" total pipe length, you'll see that this adds up to 2,381" or less than 1% waste. Nice! This is enough to build the full structure in the video with some leftovers. Blue (48.5") - Qty. 18 Green (23.75") - Qty. 45 Red (11") - Qty. 28 Yellow (4.75") - Qty. 21 Connectors (1.5") - Qty. 21 And here are the fittings that I bought. Again this is enough to build the full structure with some leftovers. Make sure that everything you buy is "S" or Socket. Don't buy threaded or slip. Side Outlet Elbow - Qty. 20 (this is the technical term for those 3-way corners) 45 degree Elbow - Qty. 20 Tees - Qty. 45 (they came in 15 packs at Home Depot, 40 is probably enough) Cross - Qty. 6 Home Depot also had an assorted size pack of spring clips for $9. It looks like it will be enough for most projects. Hope it helps. Have fun!
