    Sup man. Qiuck one. Got one of these from a friend. restored it and gave it an agressive wash like you did on the other vid. And had to scrub it with ipl and a toothbrush as there was stuff that just wouldnt come off. Anyway How much do you think its worth. The guys on ebay selling the lower or 7800 models for insane prices. So dont want to list it for an unrealistic expectation. Thanks in advance.

    Hi! Nice cleaning method, I will do it with some other boards, if the transformer is far away! I have a Naim 32.5 and Nap 180, modded following the instructions of the pfm forum, and I am very very pleased, the upgrades are massive, but... I'd like to have some more control for my Mark & Daniel Maximus Ruby speakers. 82db. These speakers will stay, I love them. The sound of the Naims are very fluid and soooo musical, hights, lows, everything is satisfatory. I thought that the Musical Fidelity P180 could solve my problem of "more drive" without a loss in quality. anotherv thing : I wonder if you changed the electrolytics of your integrated, other than changing some resistors for the (I think), Vishay, RN type. Anyway, I can use the P180 with my "upgraded" Naim 32.5 if it sounds good, or just use the Musical Fidelity with my Brooklyn dac, using the dac as a preamp. Your integrated only has a vol controil, not a real preamp, so it will work well without the Naim. I only want a litle bit more control, the NAP180 has some, but I'd like to feel that he has some more than needed. Do you think that this is a good solution ? Does it make sense to you? Thank you very much for the videos ! Francisco

    the sweeps on the 3020.... mine doesn't do that. I would have a suspicion that someone has swapped out some caps in the audio path &- possibly thinking it was a good idea, based on how one might install bigger filter caps in a PSU, replaced them with larger values, when that hump at 125Hz had been designed out.... just an idea. could also be caps going bad.... but the symmettry of it....🤔

    • @elektrickerybydee

      The best is to take the corresponding schematic and check out each component, especially each capacitor and then replace what's needed.

    So i have the exact same amp on my bench , there are absolutely no instructions online on how to bias this thing. The schematic shows 2x10w resistors when in fact there are none. Can you shed some light? I read a diyaudio thread talking about biasing this thing for 50ma across the 10 ohm resistors that simply from my view unless i'm blind aren't there.Any help is appreciated.

    • @elektrickerybydee
      @elektrickerybydee 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi - the one method is to measure the current draw on the mains power line to the amplifier. What I have done was to measure the crossover distortion level and biased the tubes as low as possible without any noticeable distortion. The negative bias network was designed to a T to fit EL34s exactly. So any EL34s thats out of spec or whack will give you endless troubles.

      @@elektrickerybydee any other way using a multimeter and voltages ? Thx

    • @elektrickerybydee
      @elektrickerybydee 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cpgixxer the other option would be to install a 1 ohm resistor on each cathode or each EL34 tube. Then measure the voltage across each resistor. It must be 50mV. For 50mA idle current per tube.

    • @cpgixxer
      @cpgixxer 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @elektrickerybydee 1 ohm and not a 10 ohm as suggested by the schematic? That's what I don't understand, schematic shows a 10 but it's nowhere to be found.

    • @elektrickerybydee
      @elektrickerybydee 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cpgixxer use a 1 ohm. It causes a much smaller voltage drop. It's only for referencing current draw.

    I have one of these that I picked up cheap at a garage type sale about 10 years ago. ($20 US) It was not working so started with those wire-wrapped terminals... and presto... PERFECT! Still working VERY well today. The Spec-1 preamp was not so lucky. Still not working but looks great on the shelf. (another $20) That one powers up but no signal passing through on either channel.

    Lovely amplifier and great to hear your thoughts on it! I know Tim Paravicini was lead designer for Luxman's MB3045 monoblocks and I have an A3600 Luxkit (MQ3600 Luxman), which was a cut-down stereo version. Both used the exotic 8045G triodes (pins 3 and 4 internally wired together) and 6240G driver/phase inverter tubes in a LTP.

      There are a couple of tantalum capacitors on the meter board that could be faulty but in general, at that amplifiers age, you need to have the capacitors replaced - all the tantalum and electrolytics.
