How to: 1960-1963 GMC & Chevy Truck Windshield with Stainless Trim Installation
This is the long version of how to remove and install a 1960, 1961, 1962, or 1963 Chevrolet or GMC windshield with the custom cab trim. I used glue to hold the rubber to the window to keep it dry and to help with the stainless instillation. You can install the windshield without glue, but it makes the job way harder with the stainless trim, and it won't be a water tight seal.

    So having watched a bunch of these, I notice no one is removing the sportseat. Thanks to the air pump you gain almost no reach threw access to the connector underneath. You can't remove the cushions unless you are willing to touch the probable fragile lumbar hose connection. Also reconnecting cushion is fun because of less access/wiggle room. The wire connector under the seat has a clip on only one side, that will probably be facing the away from you as contort yourself into foot area trying to disconnect it. I found that after the seat bolts were removed tilting the seat back and putting a brick under the front made it easier to see wire harness connections and work on them.

    There are decent car covers with soft lining inside so even if it shifts in the wind scratches arent likely. Plus the cover has side ventilation to allow it to breath underneath. I have a Hypersonic Gray Metallic 9Shich scratches and swirls quite easily (Anyone that has one can attest) and it hasnt put any swirls or sratches on it, still looks like a mirror and I had the cover on without taking it off for 2 months straight already outdoor with NO canopy or anything. I forgot to tie it down all the way and it was really windy the other day and the cover blew up like a balloon over the car, but never came off and still didnt scratch. The cover even has soft lining over any grommets and buckles.

    • @ZBrink11
      @ZBrink11 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JerrSpud Mostly correct. The basic motors and transmissions are the same. If the car has sport seats, it adds in more complexities for air lumbar and bolster support. Also, some years had power tilt as an option which adds an additional and separate motor, track, etc. The switches as well as the console and dash are dramatically different 1990 onward which changes the disassembly and some troubleshooting procedures. Again, I super appreciate people like you making the time and effort to do these videos. I will do tutorials for the forums but it's a little beyond my bandwidth to do a video like this so I appreciate you. Also, watching your video motivated me to finally get to the root cause of my own seat issue which I resolved and I'm ecstatic over! Thank you again!

      the switch got stuck in the lock position and killed it. It froze in the lock position. Not the actuators fault.

    Once you get everything done and fixed the C-4 can be one of the most reliable cars you will ever own as long as you don't let sit like the last guy did for long periods just drive it cars are made to be driven.

    As for the no start no crank either battery is dead or starter solenoid is bad and you need starter…. Fast fix

      It was neither. Starter was fine

    I have an 87 and the cruise control just... doesn't do anything? Was wondering if you have advice on how to diagnose/fix?

    • @JerrSpud
      @JerrSpud 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not at this time. I have an 86 Fiero and the cruise control is not working in that. I'm sure the two systems are very similar. So once I figure out one I'll know how to do the other. But the first thing I always do is read what the shop manual says. Some of those chapters are pretty good. And there might actually be good advice in the Chilton manuals? Maybe it has a good troubleshooting tree? Thanx for the comment and food luck 👍

    Hi Jerr, Thank you for reviewing the door lock fixers I designed and sold to you three years ago. I just found this video today! I just want to be clear, but in my auction description: I recommend cleaning and lubricating your door linkage before even considering buying my product. However, I feel if the maintenance has been performed and your lock still has issues, then my product could resolve your issue if your power lock actuators are still in good shape. Thank you again, Jerr, for your honest review. FYI... I wish you would have told me you were doing a review, as I would have sent them to you for free for an unbiased review.

      no worries. I have the door all torn apart now. They are still in there and don't seem to be hurting anything. 👍

      it's still installed and hasn't fallen apart. I haven't done an A B test in a long time with it.
