She also says that she writes her music knowing that it can hold a uniting theme/feeling/experience with her audience and she doesn't want people to listen to it and think about her boyfriends or exes and life experiences, she wants people to have it become part of their story & memories--where they were when they heard it, did they sing it in the car or with friends or dance to it at home, etc. She released the 10-minute version of this song and this short film when she was 32, over a decade after Jake. She directed this from the vantage point of the woman she has grown to become with more life experience, maturity, and wisdom. This isn't to relive her life and drag Jake. It's to tell a story and capture that feeling of young love with its highs, the intensity, the lows, the breaking point, and the heartache and devastation when it ends. Don't be shallow when looking at an artist's work--be it music, art, cinema, poetry, lyricism, etc. She has so much more depth to her body of work and creativity than you appear to give her credit for here. Someone might have commented already, but if you look back you’ll notice “Fuck the Patriarchy” in quotes. The rhythm here (which I love) I think makes people miss her saying “keychain” right after. He has a keychain that illustrates he’s presenting as one image (a feminist) but he’s actually of the narcissistic variety who targets vulnerable women (like young women)

Great song and version choice! Rock Taylor is amazing. Yummm. A great snack choice. I get a tummy ache when I eat too many. She finally sold her beautiful house on Cornelia St in the summer of 2023. It was rented out for $15k-17k/month for a little bit before she decided to sell it because she didn’t want anything to do with it anymore. Bad memories. She said it. “I’d never walk Cornelia St again.” She meant it!! 💔
