LEGO Original – Mandalorian Helmet – Timelapse and Review
Hello and welcome back. This is a little different to my usual MOC videos, as for the first time I will be presenting an original LEGO build - The Mandalorian Helmet (Model 75328)
My best friend purchased this and the Luke Skywalker, Red Five helmet for my birthday, so I am excited to showcase these.
This was a fun build, and as usual I had to alter the steps to make it suit the timelapse continuity.
This model consists of 584 parts and states it is 18+. I am not sure why as this build was not at all difficult.
Enjoy the timelapse and review.

LEGO MOC - Best Minifigure AT-ST - Timelapse and Review
มุมมอง 4.6Kปีที่แล้ว
Hello and welcome back. In my first video for 2023 I will be building and reviewing a mini figure scaled version of the AT-ST designed by Brick Vault. This is a really accurate design of the AT-ST, made famous in the Battle of Endor in The Return of the Jedi. The cockpit holds 2 AT-ST pilots and has some great attention to detail. It is a tough build and an extremely delicate model, but worth i...

      This would make sense given the trouble I had with the model, but I will give the benefit of the doubt. I did manage to get it to stand without any glue, but the pose just wasn't what I wanted. Would the nose sag over time if displayed in attack mode on a display stand? You mentioned that it’s not locked in and it seems likely that it could? How has it been since you made this video?

    • @mrcavallos
      @mrcavallos ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lester. The nose has not sagged at all since I've built it. As it weighs so little, the 2 ball joints that support it are more than enough. This model is fantastic, but I also had a lot of trouble with the ball joints in the hips and knees not providing enough friction to hold up the weight. Also, using second-hand parts probably didn't help either. The best solution I found is to rebuild the knees and hips to use Technic Rotation Joint Balls and Sockets instead. Parts such as 48171, 47455, 48169 and 80431 were much more effective at holding the weight since they "lock" or "ratchet". Even though these work better, the model is still prone to collapse due to the weight. I would really appreciate it if someone were to design a nice posing stand for this model. Hopefully, something similar to what is used in Brickvault's RX-78-2 Gundam and Leo Mobile Suit models.

    • @mrcavallos
      @mrcavallos ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey EvilMonkeyJoe - Thanks for stopping by and offering some great advice! i will certainly try this mod you suggested. I noticed on the BrickVault MOC page this model seems to be posed in ways i simply cannot achieve. They might possibly be rendered? But as I mentioned even with the joints holding, it was always trying to tip forward. Other than supporting the head, the diorama and the pose in the video was my only solution. Still vey happy with it but it is definitely a DO NOT TOUCH! model 😆

    • @TheOneandOnlyDuck
      @TheOneandOnlyDuck ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrcavallos Definitely. I love Brickvault, but I do find myself making modifications to make their models more sturdy. Which I am not complaining too much since it is a fun problem to dig into. With the "locking joints" I applied, I still have to lean the model against a back wall to give it some stability. And if someone bumps the shelf or breaths on it wrong, the legs will buckle and the head will smash apart on the shelf.

    This video is awesome! Timelapse is really cool. I've found myself looking at brickvaults at-st many times and I've never committed because the at-st shape does not lend itself to being stable. This video has again reaffimed my position on not attempting this moc no matter how much I love how it looks. The diorama base is genius, it might be worth refining it further and putting it to brickvault themselves to sell like a stand for a starship. Look forward to seeing more of your content.

      Hey Dan. Thanks so much for your comment. I understand your reluctance with this one as it was certainly a challenge posing it. I was determined to build it tho hence the diorama. Glad you liked it! I find many MOCs are pretty fragile - the X-Wing for instance - but when simply for display, many don't compare with original LEGO creations as they don't need to be as robust. So they have a little more flexibility in their design. I'm thinking next will be a Tie Fighter or even the Razor Crest. Stay tuned and cheers for the sub.

    Loved the video and especially how you built the diorama for it’, all you need a an Ewok underneath one of the at-st legs to complete it 😅. I didn’t get a true sense of the scale of the model until I saw you handling it. Perhaps it requires some sort of scale in the background. Maybe have a mini figure standing beside it.

      Hey Nader! Thanks heaps for your comment and it is a good idea. Believe it or not I did buy a LEGO Ewok, Wicket, and was going to make him walk around during filming - but my son decided he wanted it 😁Kinda grateful though as it would have added a lot of time to an already long shoot.

    When you source the parts Brinklink found all parts required to build the model. It did not use any parts that you have in your inventory.

    • @mrcavallos

      Hi Jonathan, thanks for stopping by. I don't currently have any items in my Bricklink inventory - I tend to go through the Wanted List manually and add them just before buying. Bricklink is by no means perfect - I recently ordered a heap of plant parts for a diorama, and because a few of them were not available in a certain colour, rather than warn me and prompt me to change the colour, or provide an alternative, it simply ignored these parts. This highlights the need to cross-check everything including the original bill of materials from the source inventory.

    great video, I've just never used bricklink and the first time I'll be using it is for a rather big MOC. The problem I'm having is on rebrickable, I need 241 parts and 2786 total bricks, but on Bricklink it says the unique lot is 241 but the item count is 2795. And at the bottom there are 3 more stores shown, shipping 1 missing piece each. Any idea what the problem is. Sorry for the inconvenience.

      @mrcavallos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phoenix. The first MOC can be a little tricky, until you get used to Bricklink - especially when you are attempting a large one to start. Have you clicked on the bottom stores as these will show you the items listed. Sometimes these stores show due to a rare piece but there are also other factors that could result in the discrepancy of parts - are you able to let me know the MOC and I can have a look.

    Is buying instructions from mobile and getting a pdf file compatible with mobile?

    • @mrcavallos
      @mrcavallos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there - yes they are standard PDFs - so as long as your phone can open a PDF you should be able to open these. I have even used my phone at times to follow MOC instructions whilst building.

    Hi! i would love to know, are baseplates included in inventory because I haven't seen them. Thanks

    • @mrcavallos
      @mrcavallos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the MOC - sometimes the stand for instance will come with separate instructions, but the parts should still be listed under Inventory. Feel free to link the MOC and I am happy to check it out for you.

      @Forever BS after looking at this MOC - under the comments tab - did you ask about the baseplates? the designer has answered that they are not included as there are 3 options to choose from - so if you look at the image link posted you will be able to see them and make up your mind which ones you want. then in Bricklink just search for the size - ie 32x32 and it will show you all the plate options you can add to your order. looks like a fun build - good luck!

    If you continue making MOC timelapses and reviews you will be the only one who does for some reason, thanks a lot for that ! i've always wondered how different MOC builds really are, and thanks to you now I know. Maybe some people would benefit from this and not buy the actual instructions, but still you would need the excel file to know what to buy.

    Just to clear it up; This seems to be a timelapse build of the Brickvault X-wing design and is not a uniquely designed moc. Simply a video of someone else’s build.
