Spain
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 มี.ค. 2021
Hola! Welcome to Jane in Spain, where Sarah "Jane" and Jones Longshot (and dogs Ruby and Hazel) explore how and why we left the US for Spain, and show you what our life here in Spain is like. We are in love with Galicia and its people, and we love to learn about this ancient culture and how its rich history is reflected all around us.
We are committed to publishing positive, uplifting content. We hope you find our videos calming. We are focused on the beauty that surrounds us, often little things that sometimes go unnoticed.
Please help this labor of love grow by subscribing, liking our videos, and sharing them. Muchas gracias!

The San Juan Fiesta in Arzúa, a Small Town in Galicia
La Fiesta de San Juan is a major holiday across Spain and other parts of the world. We spent a month with the people of Arzúa, a small Galician town along Spain's world famous Camino de Santiago, to experience first hand the traditions and rituals that make this fiesta so interesting and powerful.

Scary Stories: Legends Of Galicia Spain
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I think there are as many versions of these stories in Galicia as their are people! We put these two scary Galician legends together from oral histories told to us by multiple people. If it isn't the story you remember being told as a child, that's the nature of legends. The truth is somewhere hidden between the versions. la Santa Compaña is a good old-fashioned ghost story that predates Christ...

Ave Maria
มุมมอง 1.9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Jane got carried away by the acoustics in the Monasteiro de Sobrado and came out with an impromptu version of "Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert. Under her feet are interred the remains of the monks who meditated in this space across a span of a thousand years. Jane said she could feel their presence in the room as she sang.

I really miss Jane in Spain's stories. My wife and I loved watching these slice of life expositions on the culture of different part's of Galicia. I have not been able to find any information on why she stopped making content or if she left Spain. I hope she is doing well!
As a single retired guy that shares his bed with three large dogs, I laughed at and relate to waking up to a fetch ball and dog ready to play.
Hazel is the cutest, stout doggo. Love your poetic descriptions of magical Galicia!
really fantastic.....I believe I may have seen some of my Galician family from nearby villagarcia in arzua....what a wonderful tradition...bringing people together from the village ....the young and the elders.....with a type of magic that is found in Galicia....the spirits....the hopes ...the belief in a world of hope and good wishes for a new season.....the quemada.....makes me want to visit mi abuela and tio Domingo, and tio benny and Maria carmen and Olga and all my cousins still in Galicia.......
By the way! Love your voice and your acent when you say galician words is so similar as our accent
Grazas from Galiza!! You will be always welcome
In Galicia, we have a saying when we talk about the weather. Within the same day we can have all four seasons.
Jane, hello. We live near A Coruna and moved here from Oregon in '22. Are you still online? Thanks.
You love Galicia! You are really in love with this place! Congratulations, to live in the place you love is something only a few lucky people can reach. Os deseo salud y paz, que nada turbe vuestros días.
Wow, I love your lifestyle in spain. It is a dream for me to live in such a beautiful place. May you live a long, happy life there.
Hello Jane and Jones, have you tried chestnut soup? Thoroughly recommend it. ATB
Nice video. I love everything you are showing in this video. Only thing are those eucalyptus trees. I am a son of Galician immigrants and my father told me stories of his village where the forests were infested with eucalyptus trees. These trees are only profitable for the industry and are draining the soil of water. It is a pitty these trees are still there. But the rest of Galician nature is amazing!
Beautifully written and executed video.
Beautiful video Jane Thank you for sharing it with us all. I will visit Galicia Spain one day.❤
Beautiful video Sarah, thank you for sharing a piece of your heart with us.
You're a poet. Great to see an expat inhabit the spirit and culture of a place like that.
It is not easy to travelby plane to Galicia from Norway. the shortest travel is almost 14 hours! Long waiting in stopovers.
Thank you for this! It takes me back and brings so many memories- ah, the bread and cheese … and wine! And the vacas wandering around freely…💕
What a sweet dog you have dropping the ball in front of you waiting for you to kick it 😂❤❤
Hi Jane, are you back in Espana? Are you performing in local, would love the performance when I visit in October.

Ola ! Adorei seus vídeos. Transmite muita paz! As paiasagens sao deslumbrantes.
Is there a place we can find upcoming presentations? ...I would love to hear that in person!
Yes, this was our first attempt at livestreaming music from Galicia, and there will be many more to come. We wanted to make sure we could do it properly, and it was a success! So next time we will announce it ahead of time.
Impecable la transmisión, la realización y el sonido. Gracias amigos.
Are you guys stopped posting videos??
such a lovely video thxs
Hope you decide to make more videos like this one.
Nunca choveu que non escampara means that as bad as it may seem whatever it is that life throws at you, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. Literally yes, it never rained that it didn’t stop. Figuratively or used with Galician “retranca” it means as bad as it may seem, it’ll all pass and eventually it’ll all be well.
😊
I just got placed in Galicia for the English teaching program through the government program. Galicia was my first choice though I didn’t know much about it when I chose it. Your videos are making me SO excited. Galicia seems so beautiful
Good for you for coming here, Amanda. It will be a great adventure. And yes, Galicia is very beautiful in multiple ways. My advice is to watch and listen as the culture swirls around you. Don't focus on what you are missing from your own culture, focus on what this one can teach you. You will remember these days your whole life. Un abrazo!
My dad's side of the family are from galicia and im going there in August for the fiestas but next year im moving to galicia permanently because i love the lifestyle and the culture and traditions hope you enjoyed your visit to beautiful galicia

Breath taking. I love Spain
Just found your channel. Love your videos! I notice you haven’t posted in a while. I hope you haven’t given up the ghost and that you aren’t sick.
What a great video about an often ignored but incredible region of Spain. Galicia is our blood whether we were born there or not.
Extraordinaria calidad de edición , sonido , guion y amor for this lovely corner of Europe.

Hoy 23 de febrero de 2024 Día de Rosalía de Castro 🌹
Love this (and the music really touches me, since i'm a fan of celtic music, and i hear similarities with portugese, as i myself am half portugese)! Anyway, i plan to do the camino frances in september. Have you already made videos having to do with the Way of St. James?
Hi. Thanks for the kind comment. Galician music is very important to us, and we love featuring regional artists on the channel. We have actually filmed a video about Santiago and the Way of St James, but we haven't edited it yet. We are very involved in another project, creating a cultural exchange program that brings North American musicians/artists/writers together with Galician artists and Galician culture. We hope to get back to our videos soon.
Similar in Devon in Winter. Nice words, thanks for the insights.
