Dear Jane-in-Spain and Jones, I happened upon your TH-cam channel a few weeks ago when looking at items related to Spain, a country whose beauty and people (and food too) I admire. I have traveled Spain and Portugal over the past 15 years or so, and now spend half of each year in a town an hour south of Lisbon, and the rest here in the States. Being bilingual in Portuguese after living over a decade in Brazil, and then having learned passably fluent Spanish through lifelong travels in Central and South America, helps me understand, appreciate, and communicate. As they say, and you both have clearly discovered, language is culture and culture is language. Please do keep producing and airing your superb videos ... clearly works of love, talent and dedication. Your husband's filming & post production and your narration are all top-notch. I will not even try to imagine how much work and time is involved. Abrazos, Bill Stolz PS - Your dog's putting her ball next to you both as you rest on your couch is delightful. My son's German Shepherd does the same. Dogs' hopes and anticipation of the next throw never end whether awake or sleeping.
Hello Bill. Thank you so much for this lovely comment. Means the world. Let us know when you are here again and maybe we will meet up. Un abrazo fuerte.
It turns out that we are both New Yorkers who appreciate the uniqueness of what the Iberian Peninsula, and especially Galicia, have to offer. If I get to your NW corner of Galicia, I will definitely look you two up. Abrazos fuertes.@@JaneinSpain
Of course, it's a delight to be a viewer of your channel videos... such planning goes into them, a feast for the eyes at times, definitely the music matches the thirst of our souls -- but how much fun must you have creating such things for us? I wish you much luck, much health, a long happy life in España! Mil gracias a ti y a Jones! Me encantan sus videos! Guau...
What a kind comment. Muchisimas gracias! They do take a lot of work. But this one in particular was fun because our neighbors helped and they are a joy. We hope to keep making videos that celebrate this beautiful place and its people. Perhaps we'll tackle more Galician legends in future. The next video, however, is about the San Juan celebration. We filmed it last spring in the town of Arzúa, documenting how the people there celebrate the holiday. We had been thinking about holding it until next spring, but Jones wants to go ahead and share it, so we're hoping to have it out by the weekend.
@@JaneinSpain I finally made the trip up to Galicia last year, after years of living in Spain. I absolutely felt I was "home" among my own people on so many levels. Beautiful Galicia, I will be seeing you in my dreams.
Gracias, Juan! ¡Nos encanta la música! Están The Atlantic Folk Trio, MarinaVM, and Zeltia Irevire. Si se desplaza hacia abajo en la descripción, hay enlaces a su material.
I'm from Galicia and when I was a kid and I used to live in my grandparents village I was legit scared of santa compaña every night. I closed the curtains of my room and tried my best not to look outside. If I saw this I would probably have a heart attack lol
Ya know, even filming it kind of creeped me out. When Iago (the tall santa compaña and also the priest in the second story) "baaed" in José's face, I had a nightmare about it that night. Thanks for sharing that, it's so interesting to hear how that story affected a Galician kid! 😘😘
Great Video , well done , you should do a video about other popular legend in Galicia , "o lobisonem " the galician werewolf legend , very popular in all Spain and in general in the North of Spain, forget full moon or silver bullets ( its and invention of Hollywood) my father and my brother are galician and told me stories of men and women that turned into wolves , but I let you investigate the myth , good video
Thanks, Susana! We LOVE the music. They are The Atlantic Folk Trio, MarinaVM, and Zeltia Irevire. If you scroll down to the bottom of the description, there are links to their material. Please give them some love!
Awesome video again, and thanks for continuing to promote Galicia and all of her wonders!
Gracias. Cuanto más lo conocemos, más lo amamos. xo

Wow, very spooky! Great job of recreating these legends. I'm sure there are as many versions as there are story tellers. 🙂

Stunning video. Gorgeous music to accompany the images. Being Irish so many of the stories resonate with me.
Muchas gracias, Vivienne. We have been told by many Irish people that this land reminds them of home. Sending hugs from Galicia!
