The U.S. Army uses super glue and baking soda to repair small nicks in rotor blades on helicopters.

The reason why this happens is because that black substance in the battery is manganese dioxide. Manganese dioxide is an alkaline hence why they are called alkaline batteries. Alkaline substances reacts with superglue which results in a rapid and harder curing process. Manganese dioxide has a Ph level of 7 or above so it is a great substance to use with superglue. But! Baking soda is also an alkaline substance with a Ph level of 9. So yes, baking soda is much better than an alkaline battery when doing this. It is also safer and looks cleaner. Overall, there's no reason to use a battery to do this. Just get a baking soda instead. You'll get much better results without having to worry about toxicity and is translucent in color so would look better on most applications 🙂

This is exactly what MacGyver would've done. Not Angus MacGyver who worked for the Phoenix Foundation. His cousin, Dean MacGyver, who was born 6 weeks premature, was malnourished as a child, went to public school in Arkansas, had a significant drug problem in his teens, and currently works for Reynolds Air Conditioning in Little Rock and often refuses to wear proper PPE.

If you don't want to pay for a new one, at least weld it back together. Me personally I would be buying a second hand one rather than relying on a superglue part to stop my bike.

Except now it looks like shit, is structurally unstable and might twist at the new joint. Needed a ton of different tools, working with dangerous chemicals from a battery, potentially a fucked up drill bit All for a weaker, less appealing lever that costs 10-15eur to replace from OEMs

As a bike mechanic of over 20 years I can safely say this is one of the most dangerous "repairs" I have seen, for the price of a new lever don't risk your life.

I have no idea why this is in my suggestions, but since we're here, let me give you some feedback: 0:14 - Those are wire cutters. If you squeeze a little harder, they'll cut the wire. 1:04 - You might want to dull the ends of those cut wires, or someone who picks up the toy hammer might get cut. 1:30 - Cut the cloth before you fold and twist it. It's much easier that way. 1:48 - You keep changing the angle of the blade. That's going to round it over and make it cut worse. 2:17 - You're ruining a perfectly good spark plug to do what...? Make a blob of wire? 2:46 - There's a tool specifically designed for that. It's called a hammer. 3:08 - This might sound crazy, but... how about holding the nail with the pliers and hitting it with a hammer Overall, I have to rate this video 0/10. Find something you do well and make a video about it.
