Passionate Angler and Record Breaking Caster
Angling since I was a young boy,
I’ve broke various records in casting including Uk and World Records with both surf rods and carp rods
I was one of the first people to pioneer the carp casting techniques being used today for the biggest casts.
I officially was the first cast over 250,260 and 290 yards in competition with overhead casts and carp rods.
I’ve worked and been backed by some of the best tackle firms in the world.
Currently with Korda Tackle and Use Daiwa Reels.

What weight lead
@georgeplattsmtb for distance always between 4 and 5 this was 4 👍
Grate advice glad to see someone not pushing top end kit for once. But what about tapered mainline say 50lb-12lb on leader ban waters.
@@kyranwilliams6414 if you are allowed to use tapered mono its perfect. There is a few lakes out there that don’t allow diameters under O.35mm most tapered are under that. Plus i tried to help people who don’t want to tapered. Lots of good value tackle around these days that do an amazing job 😁
Thanks for the reply. I didn't know that but makes sense with rules on line b/s and diameter and I totally respect that last point they are expensive and a pain to use. Ye it's between sonic and Shimano I've still got the original sonic sk3 there first ever one haha
Hello Terry 👋 Just been watching absolutely brilliant tips I've used solid bags for a very long time but I've just learnt a lot from watching this video I will be using theses tip from now on. Thank you Terry brilliant video tight lines🎣👍
Absolutely GRAND info! Thank you very much for taking your time to make this video. Currently trying to improve accuracy and distance, and this is the best information i can find.

Still got it terry
@@DavesAnglingAdventures yeah still enjoy it mate, was nice rather than casting carp rods all the time lol.

@@TerryEdmondsUk Ok Thanks. Also are the washers not different thicknesses? Just put some on my 5500s 4 in the bag 2 thick and 2 thin.
@@MICHAELCHAMPION-q2t yeah you get different sizes mate bit of trial and error but once they are done they are done forever
@@TerryEdmondsUk 2 thick ones, sorted first time. Thanks fo quick reply.
The blank is too thick for me.
@@1966wasp that’s fast tapered blanks for you. Most rods these days are semi fast tapered 👍
At least make it look difficult 😂
@@johnlee2230 it’s just years of technique but I will say when I watch it I think wow that looks effortless, but it’s not weird 🤣
What line and leader do you use Terry? I had a stroke in Nov last year, I have full, mobility, but I've lost some of the distance, so looking to get it back through practice, but also willing to change lines etc
@ the line here is 12lb longchuck by korda and I use 30lb armakord mainly. It breaks higher than that. Really hope the recovery keeps on going well mate
Cheers mate, I've been on 12lb ridgemonkey mono, so I'll give the korda one a go. Recovery is going OK, but not really known for my patience 😂 Cheers for the advice mate,.tight line's moosh 🎣🎣🎣
@ if your going for big casts I recommend the 12lb tapered. Soon be fully recovered and launching them lol
Who knew!!! Just last weekend every cast high and right…. Now i know why. 👊🏻

Very interesting stuff. I need to check in my daiwa basia 45 sld qd boxes and see whether i had any washers in there! If not, can they be added anyway please mate? I am aware that currently the reels definitely front load, which is not where they need to be by the sounds of things

@TerryEdmondsUk very welcome mate and thank you for your time taken to show better techniques. Is there a way I can contact you in order to book a days casting tuition please? Would these UK carp rod do well if used for inshore fishing with minnow and stickbaits?

what size are you using? 50-40-30-25-20-16?
@@xmwmcgregor4020 that’s a standard set that I’ve used for many years. I’ve tried different sizes but the position and size of the first and maybe 2nd guide is the most important in my opinion of controlling the line with least friction coming it down to the other guides. Action of the rod can be changed by the amount and size of guides 👍
@@TerryEdmondsUk what sizes youre using now?
Any suggestions on what line I should be buying brand etc
Is there a rod that is 50mm inside?

Are the tx7s broom handles or are they nice to play fish on as im considering getting a set as im moving on to a bigger water.
Stiff mate with a soft top quarter of tip. Not the best playing rods 👍

Standard on the reels mate you can play with the washers to get your tapers right
Great stuff terry you talk alot of sense and are a great help.keep it up.

Stick to casting mate. Coz you ain’t caught fuck all ever 😂
Great vid! Thank you for your help! When you will be in Italy for casting lessons?
It's a craker Terry 😂😂
Cooking your own, formulating and making all your own bait has always been the best way. Anyone else bait up with still hot particles or boilies as fresh as it gets.
This went in warm as at 40c it took ages to cool down 🤣
That looks absolutely delicious for the carp to feed on Terry conference would be sky high for all the carp anglers watching your hemp being cooked 🍳 up for fishing Terry 🎩 👌 👍
Can’t beat it mate
Can you recommend somewhere to buy decent hemp?
Hinders used to be the place to buy all seeds, nuts, and pulses. Get the Chilean hemp not the Chinese stuff, it's way better mate.
Batches change all the time I get mine through a friend who owns a bait company. But there is a few animal feed shops online that supply 👍
Great information. For surfcasting/rough ground and targeting big fish like Tope would you recommend a Shimano aero Technium Mgs 14000?? i just think the thinner handles on the big pit reels are not quite up to crancking big fish unlike the thicker power handles of the spinning range. I have been told reels like the Technium have a tendency to bend the main shaft on its furthest oscillation form the reel body when fishing full drags and trying to slow the spool with a hand as well.
@@gavinlangford2984 think a lot of the guys use Shimano bullseyes for this type of work mate search them
Do you always cast with the reel low down on surf rods. I have a Century T12000. I want to match it up with a Shimano power aeropg XSC. Are these surf rods too stiff to cast overhead thump like a carp rod casting? I wa salso thinking of using a breakaway canon but are finger stalls better? Thanks Gavin
@@gavinlangford2984 no you can cast high reel lots of great casters do. Overhead thump is ok but to bend the rod and get better distances more advanced casts work better.
@@gavinlangford2984 I prefer the feel of my finger rather than cannons. I haven’t seen many of the best casters I’ve cast with use cannons 👍
I have been trying out the South african way of casting which is a hatter's cast basically an aerialized off the ground cast . Would this cast be better than the over head thump and do you use a 50ml ring on your surf rods or will 40 be ok??
@@gavinlangford2984 I would use an aerialized otg or half pendulum then that will be a small step towards pendulum give you time to build the rod up. Even otg to start be great t 1200 is a very powerful rod to start casting with. Depends if your using mono or braid mostly regrading guides
@@gavinlangford2984 50mm more versatile
I’ve just returned from a session of casting that was far from accurate. Lo and behold I was lining my left hand up with the target. Your video has explained everything I was doing wrong, thank you. Cant wait to get back out and try again.
@@Eric_D.101 left hand slightly left right hand at the target. 👍
Brilliant tips as per usual mate I can definitely relate at the end of my session I’m gonna to try this out cheers mate 🎣
Hope it helps mate
Accuracy is the hardest part of casting, not distance but accuracy… I can cast with a rig for 180m+, but for the life of me, i can’t cast where i want. It’s always hard right.
Very common casting right for a right hander. It’s how you set up, plane the rod takes and where you let go. Once you correct all them it goes straight. Check out my video on accuracy 👍
Not possible to pass 130m. 😅 not able to see what’s wrong… maybe more practice again and again !
It’s understanding body movements in what order then practising. Nearly Everybody can do 130m plus with a bit of work 👊
@@TerryEdmondsUk I will try my best and back again to basics body actions’ 🙏🏻 Target for one of my venue : 185m ! Big step to be done !
When I cast like this I'm always worried about the hook catching the ground. I'm only 5"8 any advice ?
Get to learn where the floor is, so practice your set up and touch the lead down to the floor so you know your arm positions. Rig wants to be a close to the floor as it can without touching it for big arcs.
@@TerryEdmondsUk perfect thanks for your help
@@Abc1238det bit of practice you will be all good
as short guy myself understand your pain :) Trick which I am using is to swing back lead at start. Its looks like dynamic start, and for me its helps to have longer swing, which is essential for big cast.
@@drxmaster3358 none of the biggest carp casters I know swing it back. We need to get it moving towards the target for the biggest casts, stiff rods don’t want to be loaded to early. Swinging back works if you have limited room or soft rods, but won’t produce the longest casts. Height isn’t the problem it’s set up. For eg I’ve cast 200 of my knees that makes me 3ft 🤣🤣
It's been a while since you made this one Terry. So what test curve are you using now on the 13 footers and has the line tech improved with newer options.
Everything here is still as relevant as ever mate. Still out casting/teaching every-week and fishing when I can. 👌 I’m working with Korda and helped developed the Kaizens the 13ft kaizen green is a great level line rod. Tapered mono have come on a lot as well. So a great option
Could you please tell the type of the casting rods
