Our Seadoos didn't let us down! We found the hidden hot water spring
Lake Rotoiti has a hidden geothermal spring/creek. The three of us jumped on our seadoos and headed out on the lake to adventure and find it. After a frustrating search, we found it. Somebody put a concrete bath tub in the spring and if you want, you can sit in the hot waters and mud and the geothermal waters do you wonders. We also stopped in at the hot water beach, and toured the lake as the wind died down, giving us a glassy Spring day on the water. We finished off with a cold lemonade (I promise) at the boat access only hot pools on the lake. Bliss!

Rotorua local here.. let me know if you're ever keen for a sesh, been riding mine for a few years now. One thing I noticed is when you first start that you're going a bit slow, always easier for me to keep weight up front and get on the plane first!
Thats not actually the creek. Theres a better accessible creek not far from the first beach you went too. further right. Much nicer to soak in and can easily walk up the creek. you can swim in the lake and be warm. You'll have to go looking again.
@@roozynz was wondering if we found all of it. Thanks for the heads up. I had heard there was a bath tub so we assumed we had found it
Great vid. The Queen stayed at Moose lodge not far from the pools you went to on the shore and the emperor of Japan stayed there also years ago. Both had rooms decorated for them. Got a tour through a few months ago.
@@kerrytukaki thanks for that! Glad you enjoyed it. Oh ok, I thought that lodge had closed up
I saw another great spot in that video to pitch a tent mate 😜. We are heading that way next month for a couple of rides.
@@simonmcgrath6933 yeah there are probably a few spots you could chuck a tent. Awesome!
Awesome little adventure! Math bath is actually a good idea of calling it :)
@@ParaglidingManiac cheers! I think next time I’d be ready to make a mud bath of it
More of a Mud Tub than a Bath Tub by the sounds of it 😂
@ probably accurate. A hot mud bath at least!
How did that actually happen ??
@@rhinostaking3550 crazy right!
Explorer 170 for me. Looks like a lot of fun but, the maintenance is way higher because of the turbo charger not to mention the fuel.
@@skylane1828 definitely looked at the explorer. Would tick a lot of boxes for me and touring
Good to see you back on the water. Looking forward to a bunch of new videos. Always enjoying watching from canada. Cheers
@@David_Truck thanks for tuning in. Where in Canada? I’ll get some more adventures out soon
@livinginwake From Kelowna British Columbia. We have so many beautiful lakes in this area. A true gem and have Vancouver and the coast just a few hours away. Great place to go riding here
@@David_Truck I bet! Envious of all the lakes
Nice little video Greg. Plans are underway for an overnighter on the lake mid November with our Fish Pro. Hopefully a reconnaissance ride sometime in October. Look forward to your next adventure.
@@simonmcgrath6933 awesome. Great plan. Good lake to do an overnighter and hopefully this makes it easier planning your adventure

Has the RXP ever sent you flying off ? I want to upgrade from my GTR hull, to something thats better in the chop but have been told by many people the RXP is a ski that does not forgive and will throw you off at even a wrong glance. Racers use them so they cant be that bad right ?😂 been following your channel from the start 💪🏼
@@stuarts3016 wow you would have seen the very average beginnings haha. Thanks for this. You know actually prefer the RXP, its predictable and doesn’t wander like the ST3 hulls. You certainly have to hold strong and turn with it. But if you’re experienced, I like it. Definitely less forgiving than the GTR. Currently on a GTi , and it just slides on the turn, so you will have to change your approach going from the GTR
@@livinginwake thanks man - yeah been riding for 5 years but always had the pollytec hull on the GTis and GTRs - just wanted something to cut through the chop better as i ride offshore in the UK and as you can guess its far from a pond…
@@stuarts3016 no worries. If it’s offshore chop, it’s a balance. The ST3 hulls are more comfy in it, GTX or RXT. But they bow hunt. I had an rxt and did a couple long rides open ocean. Soaks the bumps but you’re playing with the handlebars a lot. RXP is smaller and doesn’t soak bumps as well but tracks through. Got a comparison vid on the two you can check out mate
@@livinginwake already see it mate the day you made it ! 😃

Enjoyed the video, not a big fan of the noise and fuel usage but live and let live. Maybe you'll get video of elelectric jet-skis.
Thanks for the feedback, yes I have had a bit of a look at the electric skis. Constraints in range obviously the biggest hurdle to overcome. Amazing instant power however. Space to watch
And heres me never taking it out of Eco mode 😂

Nice to see you back mate ! You’ve actually inspired the wife and I to do the lakes in BOP this summer. We’re up in AKL and did a quick reccy of 4 of them a few weeks back. Really keen to camp out overnight lakeside - that peninsula looks like a great spot for it ! If you haven’t done the Hauraki Gulf, get up and do it. Kawau Island as well. Holler if you need a riding partner, though Stephen is from up here so you have a wingman sorted already.
@@simonmcgrath6933 glad to hear it mate. Thanks for the message. You won’t regret the lakes. Let me know if you’re heading down and want a riding buddy. I’m always keen if I can fit it in. Also if ya need any advice on the area. Stephen has hit me up about the gulf, and couple others trying to get me up there. I’ll likely plan something in spring

Love your videos, missed them! Have you ever made it out Whakaari / White Island, would make for an interesting video?! I imagine its a bit of a journey!
@@tmordaunt1 thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback and nice to know people are watching. I haven’t actually but thought about that area for sure, and whale island. Not sure on the regulations for White Island, would have to read up before I went near that one
Let me know any recommended modifications for a GTI. I’m surprised by the kick it has, coming down from a 300hp. I’ll do an in depth riding review of it soon, and offer comparisons in comfort, riding experience and ergonomics
Finally back mate we'll have to catch up!
@@jetskilee86 for sure! Very keen to get out and film with ya mate
It’s quite a down size in power from 300hp to 130hp, but as long as you’re on the water and having fun that’s all that matters. Be interested to see your opinion on comfort compared to the rxpX and rxtx.
And as always stunning scenery over in NZ
@@JoshDK- beautiful part of the world, can’t complain at all when I’m doing these sorts of things
@@JoshDK- I actually had a look at my speeds/rpms from when you service and a big majority of my riding was in the 45-70km/hr margin. Probably because of what I do on the ski, touring, riding with people, filming, on open ocean. Definitely enjoyed the top end but it was rare to use it. I find the gti/gtr hull easy and comfy enough. It’s forgiving. RXP was great with myself. Not great 2up. Rxt was great for 2up, probably my preference over RXP for most. The ST3 hull is more stable at stationary. All are awesome skis. Depends on what you need comfort for I guess?
@@JoshDK- also it actually goes better than I thought. I’d like to tune to get top end up a bit. But it still rips around in sport
@@livinginwake yeh I get that, I have a ski that can do 135km but most rides I do a top sped run once and the rest is 80km and under. I love the RXPX but it’s a one person ski even with the add on seat it’s not good with 2 people. I do like the GTi hulls they just seem a bit more work horse and useable. Good to see you back on a ski
He's back! 🎉

Have you had any issues with the board? Im thinking about getting the same one you have but with the jet and smaller fin
@@CJR_Controls no issues at all. The cruiser jet package I had was a good starter for me. But I’m over 100kg and 6’3 so if you’re not as hefty you might want a smaller wing. No issues at all with the board
The board was a lot louder then they say it is. Are you using the flight jet or prop?
@@CJR_Controls I thought it was pretty quiet, but it’s my first board. I went with the prop to start. Thought I’d start there with the guard on
I bet that hurt

Jetski camping is the way !! Me and the wife did an overnight at Motuihe in the Hauraki.......was perfect until I woke in the morning to realise my ski had gotten swamped overnight, even with perfect conditions. Still not entirely sure how it happened but I think overnighting on a lake is where it's at - just trying to work out where.
I really like the idea but yeah when you start looking there aren’t many spots. I’d say Lake Tarawera and parking up at the hot water beach. There is a DOC camp on the shore there
Check out my vid going to tarawera and it shows you the camp
@@livinginwake unable to Free camp on Rotoiti?
@@simonmcgrath6933 I aren’t aware of any spots, but would be keen to know if there was
@@livinginwake will definitely let you know. Hopefully down in a few weeks for a reccy as aiming to spend a ton of Seadoo time this summer on these lakes. Great videos bro, keep it up.
does the two person seat come with it or you need to get it separate
That might be a dealer thing, but I had to purchase the 2up seat with mine. Hardly ever used it to be honest
how many gallons and miles per gallon do you get on the ski. also how long does a full tank last
We work in litres and Km over here. I reckon you get around 180km if you’re riding easy on throttle in eco. You put that in sport and I’d say it would much much less :)
We're using the Lift 3F, and that's a two man operation so respect for you flying solo! Gorgeous shots, keep flying.
Thanks for the feedback and kind words! Those lifts look like great fun, don’t see a lot of people flying around here
Greetings from Australia (Newcastle) Exactly what you said bro. The fun is in the process of learning. You are going well .cheers
Thanks for the feedback! Go well over there in aus
I don't know what to suggest, besides maybe introducing some stretching exercises to your daily routine. And trying to relax your muscles when riding. Also, I've noticed that your wing is of higher aspect ratio. Mine is a stubby fat "triangle" wing, perfect for a beginner (like me). Water is 10 degrees Celsius at my place, I never fall once during 1hr40mins of riding. AWESOME efoiling place you got there!! I would feel so small in that open water:)
Stretching is probably a great idea. Relaxing muscles is a good tip too. I just got some negative shims so I’m going to see if that makes a difference as I’m struggling to be able to stand near the foil, hoping this changes the weight positioning
You know it's gonna be a good day when a new living in wake vid drops!
That’s very kind of you! Glad you enjoy the content
Hey Mate nice video ! With the wake of a boot you can cut trough them, just stay away from the prop turbulance that can cause some instability but it's good for practice :-)
Thanks for this! The biggest key to progression I’ve noticed has been staying at good height on foil and recovering from breaches or near breaches. Was worried going through some larger boat wake that I’d be struggling but it wasn’t too bad
@@livinginwake Agree , practice makes it happen :-) Only the turbulence from an outboard propellor is almost undoable :-) you will experience the same turbulence if you ride with multiple e-foilers and going trough their track.
@@letsefoil do you just drop/porpoise when you hit it? Sounds like air wake turbulence
@@livinginwake Drop with an e-foiler but with a boat means wipe-out :-) depending on de speed of the boat but stretches quite long behind it.
Beautiful
