Hi Everyone and Welcome Back to Living in Wake Channel. I share my love for PWC's and nature. You will see content exploring the ocean,lakes and coasts of New Zealand.
In this video - taken in Winter (July) 2023 - I meet a friend for his first ride around Lake Tarawera. Conditions were mixed, but it was an enjoyable full day ride. We visit the geothermal hot water beach and hot pool, secluded in the native bush. We met some amazing people on our adventures and it was great to share our love for jet skiing, giving them rides to the hot water beach.

Lake Tarawera has the BEST scenery and is definitely one of my favourite lakes to ride. Get there if you can

@@livinginwake I'm pretty decided on what I want in a Yamaha, but a trip next week on a Sea Doo on the Gold Coast might change my mind again. But once I get myself setup I'm definitely keen to join on rides.

I am so envious of how little of traffic there is at the ramp area and on the water. Florida is extremely busy all the time. This day looks so peaceful, you really do live in a beautiful area. I hope to be able to travel to places like this someday.
Thanks mate. Was middle of winter, so the crowds are lower than summer. Would still be nothing like Florida I’d imagine. You’d certainly enjoy the RXT on our lakes

Maaan it’s so beautiful, I am so jealous, I live in Texas, very hot here 45c and lakes 37c hot lol
Yeah I think I’d take the temperature in winter here than 45c! Winter is relatively mild. Gear up and it’s fine. Probably about 9-10c on this ride for most of day, bit warmer in afternoon

Looks like your winter and ours here in Rhode Island are a bit different. Water temps here are in the high 30sf, air temps are in the teens and 20sf (sometimes much colder), with brisk winds coming down from Canada and off the Atlantic. My season is from early May until the beginning of November. Enjoying summer at the moment. Lake Tarawera is beautiful. Safe journeys.
We are indeed lucky. Winter isn’t cold enough to stop you riding. On with the thicker wetsuit, gloves, booties and gear, off ya go. Still try to stay out of the water. Helps if you’re heading somewhere like this with hot water pools in the journey. Actually some of my favourite rides have been winters. Nobody on the water
