Better option; Don't care what the FCC says and just use the radio you bought without needing a license to buy. Until the FCC makes it so you aren't giving out your address whenever you give your call sign. Hell no.

Check out the TYT MD-UV390+ it has AES256 encryption capability, that same 2 pin connector, 10w power capable, usb c recharging, and is ip67 rated (can be submerged in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes) It's VHF/ UHF DMR/ Analog capable.

I want the pseudo-secure frequency-hopping features of this radio for our family. I know it’s insanely pricey, but I won’t get my very young kids unsecure radios. The DTR600 is discontinued. Do you have input on what I can get in a 4pk of radios?

I know this video has been out a while, but what kind of antenna connector do these use? I finally have one of these, and I'm trying to figure out the possibility of moving the antenna onto my kit, or an external antenna for my car

Thinking Arcteryx is high speed is a koolaid flavor too many people in the firearms and defense industries have drank for far too long 😂. I would love to have encrypted radios that no government agencies or military could listen in on, but I suspect without even watching this video that these radios do not prevent them from listening, correct? I follow all rules and regs and have never transmitted over GMRS with my Baofeng and also my neighbor won’t let me use his repeater without a cool kid call sign, such is life. What a joke, a license with no test and no enforcement. Just use your radios and keep your $$$.

I understand getting a better radio is good, but no one I care to talk to is willing to upgrade beyond FRS/GMRS. My concern is getting the $3k radio but then no one can run the same standard, so it's useless.

Is this like a store/forward repeater using a raspberry pi that does receive/store/retransmit using a raspberry pi with a soundcard?

When covid broke out in 2020 I went down a GMRS rabbit hole for hunting/travel/SHTF... four years later I have my GMRS license, multiple radios and I'm preparing to take the technician exam. Ironically I came across your TH-cam channel today on my feed and was stoked to see you guys are based out of Twentynine Palms (my wife and I own a property right between 29 and Jtree). pretty nice radio. i still attached to the motorola XPR but i hope verry soon i let go to get something New and with Encryption AES

They work good on a cruise ship, much better than a 4 watt uhf radio.
