omg pullrates are atrocious. ofcourse this is a small samplesize, but it's what I'm experiencing with these smaller sets like 151 too.

I'm not going to lie your title shocked me I looked on my feed and I see someone saying HeartGold and SoulSilver are the best games don't get me wrong it introduced some nice fun things like you mentioned pokewalker and follow me Pokemon is absolutely amazing and cute. that's about it the game itself the gameplay it's pretty bad every single Pokemon is literally just a rip-off of the other kanto Pokemon like maybe you didn't notice it but did you notice that typlosion has the same exact stats as Charizard. Also how about the level scaling I did a hardcore nuzlocke of that game which basically means that every single time I have to make sure I was at the level cap for each gym leader and I will tell you it was incredibly difficult to grind because the wild Pokemon do not match the levels that you should be at for example the level cap for Morty the Ghost gym leader he is a third gym leader is level cap is level 25 so I went to go train in the wild the wild Pokemon were at level 15 and level 13. 💀 Doesn't even match the level that we should be at by now you should be in your twenties after defeating Whitney(her level cap being level 19) so why the hell are the wild Pokemon still level 13 and 15. I should remind you this doesn't happen in fire Red because when you reach Erica the grass gym leader the wild Pokemon are at level 21 to level 23. That matches the game because the gym leader is at level 29. And it's not just that it gets even worse towards the end of the game the level cap for red is level 88 the wild Pokemon are level 39. That's not even close to what the level cap should be. I don't even go to mention Claire her Pokemon being at level 41 and the wild Pokemon being at level 23 does that even make sense. Obviously level scaling is a problem and now I want to talk about the dex the dex is absolutely horrendous. And ask someone who did a hardcore nuzlocke I will tell you how horrendous the dex I'm not even talking like design wise cuz design wise you might be able to like the Pokémon but stat wise 💀. Seriously name your favorite Pokemon in Johto and it's likely that Pokemon is a terrible Pokemon in competitive. this game didn't release that many new Pokemon they honestly just took Kanto Pokemon and it makes sense considering this entire gameplay hinges on your love and nostalgia of Kanto but when you look at something from just Johto you realize that there's not many new Johto Pokemon not to mention good ones. Only reason people like HeartGold and SoulSilver because of the nice gimmicks introduced like the night and day cycle or the post game fight with red or the following Pokemon. And that's truly what you were pointing out in your videos but those gimmicks are not enough to save the entire game cuz generation 9 introduced the same thing like changing your type or gen 8 which introduced dynmax. Every single game has its gimmicks but do not use the gimmicks to say well the entire game is good now no mega evolution is not enough to save the game from its flaws. Soulsilver and it's sister are incredibly flawed games when you look past the cute gimmicks. I used to be one of those people that love the game because of its you gimmicks but after I just finished my hardcore nuzlocke of the game revisited and after playing it I was like wow this game is pretty bad gameplay wise. Heartgold and SoulSilver and gold and silver in general are probably the perfect example of Pokemon Rushing games play someone in the writer's room was like "oh my God we have to make a new game" and "they're like we can't really come up with much I have writer's block so they said you know what screw it just take everything we took from the first game and put it into this game well at least a little nice gimmick here and there and that should hold them off."

The release for Shrouded Fable has actually been pushed back to the end of August now. Nice short video! I would work on that for of light that’s on the cards. It makes it a little hard to see what you’re showing straight on.

Pokémon Gold, Silver, HeartGold and SoulSilver are more like expansions to Kanto. The series was suppose to end with Gen 2 as you can travel back to Kanto (Where you started) as the endgame for sequel content that would end a series. This also explains the 100 new Pokémon and level curves. So in an alternate universe, that was it, and that's what the devs thought and make a small sequel not expecting it become a massive hit, so in turn when it did become a massive hit, then went all out and made Gen 3 with new regions, more Pokémon and new mechanics as well. This explains the Johto region feeling like half a region. Also Charizard did not deserve two mega evolutions, a gigantamax form, and being the ACE of the CHAMPION of another region when it had no right to be there. They should stop doing this crap as other Pokémon exist apart from it.

The things that ruined Megas was giving already good Pokémon the ability to go Mega. There’s no good reason Mewtwo should have TWO mega evolutions. Pokémon like Beedrill, Camerupt, and Mawile should have been given priority for the ability

To this day, HGSS is still the best Pokémon game period. This was when the Game Freak devs cared and put effort into making a good Pokémon game, GSC was the best until the remake of HGSS. What they added in HGSS was never in GSC due to storage limitations, added the legendary birds and Mewtwo in the game, added in additional bonus content that was in Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon that can follow you, etc. I would go bonkers if in the future if Game Freak decides to do another HGSS remake, but this time with Nintendo Switch graphics kinda like what they did with Pokémon Lets Go which was a huge disappointment due to them adding Pokémon Go mechanics.

Imagine if in b2w2, Pokémon could follow. My fav games all time, but there are some flaws exploration wise (going to SE unova isn’t on par with going east to kanto, Icarus city kinda sucks, and it would be cool if you could get 11 badges overall (say the striaton city trio, Lenora (though she has an identical badge to cheren) and the ice dude I forgot his name from iccarus. Even then, say you can only face him after beating all/a set number of polestar studio thingys 😊

Gen 3 was awful bro. And lol Gen 4 sucked until Platinum dropped. Bruh I went back and played Diamond and Pearl because BD and SP where so bad that I thought it was just me imagining things and it was worse. Platinum, however, made sooo many improvements and changes that it was almost a different game. And HG SS where amazing. But people who think RSE and DP where good are off their rocker.

Gotta disagree with the legendaries. They’re rare and great but they’re still Pokémon. In the anime, I agree. In a game, that’s just not how it should work. If we were to keep the legendaries to lore accurate, you just don’t get any.

Im a gen 5 stan with Black being my favorite. The exp system is nice, the characters and story are the best across the series, and my favorite Golurk originated here. I have a lot of nostalgia for the original Silver from my childhood but didn't play HG till I was an adult. I find Johto in either version to be insufferable. The level curve is just so bad that it makes me want to just stop playing by the time I'm getting to Claire. Johto and Paldea are examples of why a 1 to 100 leveling system with simplistic battle doesn't mesh with open game design. People argue for level and move scaling but outside a 5 level span or so that wpupd probably just break.

If you watch Pokemon evolutions they let you know too about silver

Mega weren't bad, but they set a precedent that devolved into Z move, dynamax and terastalation, which are incredibly worse and gimmicky. Mega were a way to give older pokemon a time to shine while not making new evolutions. but no, dudunsparces, fuck us.

Oh god, there’s stall in the TCG too? As if it wasn’t bad enough with the games. I guess I’ll list a few of my own unpopular opinions. Dragonite is the worse pseudo legendary and is incredibly lame. It’s good competitively obviously but in terms of design, I think it’s trash. Hisuian Zoroark has an awful design. The Normal/Ghost typing is awesome but man, I absolutely hate how it looks. Unovan Zoroark is way better. Gen 2’s Pokédex is one of the most forgettable in the whole series. I’d only place it above Gen 8. There’s just so many…nothing Mons in Gen 2. No wonder a lot of them have been getting evolutions lately.

Love these games! Earlier this month, for my birthday i got a tattoo of the HeartGold symbol on my bicep. Now, I'm working on a 100% completion run of Heartgold including the black trainer card and 493 living dex.

Strangely gen 5 for me was when it started to decline in quality. And I never fully understand the resurgence of gen 5 with fans. I think it reached it bottom with gen 7. Gen 7 replaced gyms with trials which were a cool idea. But it is hard to replace something that been a series staple since the beginning. Same issue with no elite four/champion battles in gen 8. However, gen 8 had really cool looking mons. The Pokemon themselves I really have a hard time remembering past gen 4 though. There is just so many to keep track of now days. Gen 7 I hated the rotem dex. Prefer the original Pokedex. Gen 7 replaced Mega Evolutions from gen 6 with Z moves. Mega Evolutions should have been a series staple since its introduction from X & Y. While I enjoyed 8 more then the previous few generation it does come with problems. Gen 8 feels incomplete without paying more money for the DLC. Which I assume gen 9 has the same problem. Gen 9 is the only games I have not played. If you don't have the DLC for Sword/Shield there is very little to due after beating the game. Even less so then gen 1. Because gen 1 you still have the legendary birds and MewTwo. Also, I going to say Pokemon Brillitant Diamond/Shiny Pearl are very underrated games. They expanded the underground by a lot. And it actually has a post game unlike gen 8. No DLC required. Plus they not slow like the original Diamond & Pearl. Which I also never had an issue with unless majority of players. Been playing Legend's Arecaues and I am almost done with the main story. Certainly and interesting game but still not as great as Pokemon Emerald or HeartGold/SoulSilver. Gen 3 and Gen 2 remakes are peak Pokemon games for me. So much replayability. Reason why I love gen 1-4 so much. Also nostalgia is a factor to why I love those games. Both the gen 1 remakes and gen 2 remakes are the best versions of themselves. Gen 3 you have Emerald. Which made ORAS a little disappointing. Gen 4 is debatable with the remakes or Platinum. Maybe Platinum because of the distortion world. Gen 5 like I said at the beginning was not my favorite unlike a lot of fans are. Never like the designs of some of the mons. No previous gen mons available. And since gen 5 the games are too much dialogue that is is a distraction from the gameplay. Sure the story of gen 5 is good but because of it the games have less replay value. And you have HeartGold/SoulSilver & Platinum being better games coming right before gen 5. Finally in terms of the Let's Go games. Certainly the worst Kanto games. They got rid of abilities that FireRed/LeafGreen had. No 7 islands. And the games had the Pokemon Go mechanic of just throwing a ball to catch wild Pokemon. Instead of random encounters to battle the mons. However, I do like the Pokemon in the overworld but I wished we just battle them like normal. Like we do in Legend's Areceus. I also do like how Let's Go got rid of the Pokemon Center PC box and is now with you within a click of a few buttons. So there are a few pros of the Lets Go games. But still enjoyed it being an Kanto adventure. I know this been an essay and think you for all the people who read all of this. But Pokemon as a whole has its up and downs despite a decline in quality since gen 5.

They didnt fix any of the pacing or team comp issues the original had. Most of the gym leaders are still pathetically weak with mostly kanto team comps. They didnt fix any of the encounter tables or didnt fix movesets and never fixed the story (outside of the celebi quest) every cool jhoto pokemon is locked behind post game or too out of the way for a new player to know how to get. Team rocket in this game is laughably weak were the final fight your still using pre evolved pokemon Why does bugsy morty chuck falkner all use kanto pokemon? Why does morty not get misdrevus? Why does bugsy not get ariados or pinco or herracross? Why doesnt chuck get hitmontop or herracross? Oh its because they suck. Well why do they suck? All these problems tie into each other only reason people love these games are nostalgia goggles

can u please not pretend like ur opinion is some objective truth and stop assuming that its something everyone agrees on? it rlly annoys me when ppl state how they feel abt things as fact😭 i absolutely LOVE pokemon SM and USUM, i love the story, the characters, the music, the battles, and the USUM postgame is genuinely amazing, like one of the best postgame plots in all of pokemon in my opinion. i genuinely adore team skull so much too, ya boi guzma is the BEST!! i also rlly rlly love kahunas and trials and stuff, i think its very sweet and unique and since kahuna is a real hawaiian word for expert/master in a specific field and they were kinda seen as community leaders, it feels very fitting. i absolutely adore how much the game puts effort into respecting and representing hawaiian culture.i know its not perfect at all but its definitly one of the most accurate and respectful depictions in the mainstream which is pretty cool considering its coming from a japanese perspective. i love the aether foundation as the villains too, i mean the fact that they literally tried to recreate GOD is genuinely terrifying. i also personally kinda like z-crystals, i dont think they were needed but the animations were cool as hell!! i dont have much connection to X and Y personally but i rlly love the AZ plot and story and all that a lot. its been ages since i played them but i do think theyre rlly sweet games. team flare takes itself a bit too seriously i think tho lol. how dare u call ORAS lackluster tho, its like a 1000 times upgrade to the original, minus the 3d cuz RS felt a lot nicer in 2d sprites imo. this is just u deducing why u personally dislike these later games, which is completely fine and valid, but there is no objective downfall of pokemon or whatever, it just kinda doesnt appeal to u anymore for personal reasons. i dont rlly care for scarlet and violet, i think personally theyre kinda blagh. one of the main reasons i love pokemon games is the story and the villain teams, thats why gen 5 is my all time favorite generation and gen 7 i absolutely adore too, and thats why i didnt rlly enjoy scarlet and violet but loved legends arceus. i also dont rlly think we need the constant one-upping with the new gimmicks, but i completely understand why ppl love it. i also dont rlly care abt there being new pokemon, as i said i care way more for the stories and lore and the themes and feelings they're trying to get across, new pokemon are a sweet extra to a story for me. this was a good video, but it very much felt u were trying to speak from objectivity when its rlly just how you feel abt things.

9:14 A little bit of trivia about that, is that they shifted towards the Minigames because of pressure in Japan due to people being unhappy with how closely the Game Corner resembled actual gambling facilities, which is why after gen 3 remakes of games that had Game Corners (like this one) now display that they are closed or being renovated. BDSP had a similar situation with its Game Corner being turned into a shop and some of the NPCs within actually talk about it.
