I bought my first Landcruiser in 1974 2nd hand off Rupert Murdoch property out near Yass, it was a 3 speed SWB with 135 motor and small round blinker lights on the guards. It had been imported from New Guinea by Murdoch, ended up towing our caravan around Australia for 4yrs. Currently we're in what will be my last Cruiser, a 2001 100 series turbo diesel, we've had it for 22yrs, it's so bloody reliable that I haven't been able to part with it 🥹🤩

Heard your comment about elevation. Me, "I wonder if they are in the Springs". Found your website and saw that you all do, would like to visit and learn what I can from you all if that is alright. Last weekend I purchased a FJ60. It came with a spare engine 3F, not sure the year, will need to look up that stuff. I started to take it appart. The current engine starts to die if you push in the choke, maybe not warmed up enough? The body needs work.

Awesome vid! I can't seem to get my original mechanical fuel pump to match the carb for some reason. I've got an electric pump in there now but I hate it. Ideas? I'm at 8,600 ft and up.

For 2f engine, you setup timing ignition at 7° or how? Without vacum advance.. I ask for best timing ignition for 2f engine for best and economy fuel..

The amount of BPA they must’ve used for maximum durability. 😅

Casi no opino porque la idea de hacer tutoriales es para transmitir tus conocimientos pero de manera clara y honesta para aquellos nos gustan los motores de todo tipo y este tipo perdón expresarme así pero que da la casualidad de que alguien trae un problema con este tipo de motor y es la falla que le presenta su vehículo pues casi que le da un paro porque no especifica si esta midiendo gasolina o aceite uno o varios que ya tenemos en esto lógico pero se pone de fanfarrón desespera saludos

can this engine be paired with an 80 series tranny?

I tested my 2f today, and got 125-135 @ 1800' elevation. The only thing, i did not clamp off my gas line, do you think that skewed my results?

Absolutely indestructible those Toyota LandCruiser's. They were popular in 1978 as they were in the years prior. And they're still popular now! Gives loyal owners that "oh what a feeling" every time.

Loved this video. Had the info i have been looking for. I bought a 1970 fj40 with its orginal F-engine, but it runs like crap. We have already done alot to it and it didnt have too many miles, or poor mantinence. However, it still has a few problems. Firstly, the carb mixture screw doesnt do anything. For some reason it has a 2f carb on it right now. Would having a 2f carb on a 1f engine really change all that much with how it runs? Also when driving the car up a small hill, there is a lack of power, as well as you have to rev the piss out of it to get up the hill. We just ordered a correct carb and hopefully that works.

I had one of these in red. But it was a 1988 model so it had the 4 square headlight front. I think it looked better than the round headlights. It was a beast. Went everywhere in it. Up and down the east coast of Australia a few times. Great memories.

We had one that I learned to drive in when I was in hi school in the mid 1970s.
