Springfield model gas engine
A Grenning model made in 1998. It had sat covered for many years in a family room. After some oiling and figuring out, we got it running.

The first video showed us an easy way to turn the engine over in a controlled fashion. This video shows the engine running on its own. I was very glad everything worked out! Now I might get a k241 to play with.

I spent hours trying to find a video or other tutorial about how the locking collar works and then installing the bearing. I thought it was rocket science. It’s not. I hope the Cub Cadet engineer that designed this got a nice bonus that year.

Not sure exactly when the Scouts were told to leave. We’re going to try to keep the property nice. It’s not realistic to think we can restore the pool itself but we can at least preserve the building.
Model A Briggs and Stratton

Model A is running as slow as the factory wanted it to. You can see that by the lax spring position at the governor linkage. It’ll run slower if the governor arm is pressed a little. Very nice post war display engine. Most shows have pre-war stuff. These are more affordable and kinda fun to own without all the difficulties of hit and miss or even throttle governed engines. And lighter.
Messinger 3/4 hp air cooled engine

Took 20 or so years but George got this running just fine. This can be seen at Hay Creek in September 2021. The 3/4 hp water cooled is being worked on now.

George Loughery's 1903 Columbus Gas Engine as shown at The Hay Creek Fall Festival in 2014. It is currently set up to run on propane. George says it runs cleaner and that means less ignitor cleaning. Great job very informative
I noticed that the bearing with the circle clip inside that only allows the bearing to go on so far is NOT flush. CC probably didn’t want it flush so that the PTO engages and disengages without interruption from the end of the crankshaft. So mount bearing out a 1/16” or so.
Hello. I’m into my third hour of removing the six set screws from the PTO for removal. I just bought a k161 as a spare. The three holes were filled/packed with a hard, dry mud. Spinning the Allen wrench inside the set screws is NOT an option! Be careful. Take every precaution to get the wrench fully into the set screws. If anything seems wrong when you’re turning the wrench, stop! and recheck the conditions.
Good video. I used this as a reference yesterday when I put a new PTO on my '68 72. Problem, though...the new PTO will not disengage. Any ideas?

@@TitanBobL yes sir! Thank you very much. The wear button was missing when i acquired the tractor and I didn't realize until you said that. I installed a new one, readjusted the turnbuckle and it's perfect. Thanks again!!
Thanks for the demo. My pto is frozen on and somehow the set screw slots on the clamshell don't even line up for removal. Any suggestions? It may take some rocket science here! Greetings from South Carolina!
Could that mean the key sheared sideways? Things sound very tight. You might need to heat the clamshell area at the shaft for pulling purposes. Either way start looking for a couple of good used parts. Thank you for your kind comments. Have a great Christmas!

@@david9783 No, It should only be able to rotate when the button on the front side is pressed down.

Well, the car did go together, although I could never shake the POS that it was. I sold it for 4500. I lost about 3 grand on it. But I had to stop the bleeding. Thanks for watching. I have a 62 corvair in the garage now. That'll be the last POS I buy, at least thats what I tell my very understanding wife.

@smokeman46 I keep well oiled felt inside of the #1 Michigan Lubricator Co. oilers. I believe the oil method is the correct one
Hi TitanBobL- On the main bearing caps, do you use a grease cup or are they oilers?
