Interesting, I had my first at age 61. Went to ER having no clue what was happening. I did realize I had an SVT attack about a year prior- I was told it was a panic attack. In hindsight, knowing what I know now, It wasnt a panic attack. Thank you for sharing your story

I did comment on your video prior to this abut SVT- I asked if the docs suggested using icepacks on the face, coughing or bearing down to stop it. COmments here talked of blowing into something. The doc told me about the ice packs on face and neck, bearing down and coughing. I am open to any and all suggestions. SVT is scary

Icepacks coughing and bearing down is what I was told to do. WOuld love to hear from one with alot of experience with this.

Your story was very helpful! Was interesting that your first EP was not a good one! I have only had 1; he is arrogant and isn’t forthcoming with info! Had a failed ablation - said I went into Afib and he had to back out????? I guess the second was a success even though he told my daughter my heart did all kinds of “ crazy things!” I was still asleep, having general anesthesia! The first time I had light sedation and it was not fun! I hurt in my chest - like a heart attack - that was when he pulled out! The FU I had with his NP wasn’t any better! Same arrogance and I could not get any helpful info from her! In her notes she listed my problem as Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation? I am so confused but I think you said you had both Afib and SVT! I am seeing my Cardiologist tomorrow - I’m hoping he can help even though he is not an EP! I originally went to ER twice and was diagnosed with Afib! I am totally confused at this point! It seems I am doing ok but I am not getting the information I need! Very frustrating! I hope you will post again!

I know how you feel. I had basically every type of arrhythmia you could think of. A-fib, a-flutter, SVT, PAC, PVC, and the original electrophysiologist I had couldn’t really do anything about it. They put me on several medications to try and help it, but they didn’t work. It wasn’t until I went into heart failure that I got moved to an electrophysiologist in Kansas City. He got me on some meds that stabilized me and got me out of heart failure, and I just went in for my first ablation last month. I’ll likely need another one at some point, but I already feel so much better

@@LeadaQuietLlife That’s definitely a plus! In my experience, SVT was way more uncomfortable than afib. When it comes to major heartwork, the absolutely most important individual in the mix is the electrophysiologist. If you get negative vibes about the person, DO NOT PROCEDE. This is your heart that's involved and you don't want any hackers messing with it. I had an ablation last summer for my persistent afib. The team that performed the procedure was top shelf. They have over 4,000 procedures under their collective belt and that's what you want for experience. Additionally, in an adjoining state, is another fantastic team of doctors using AI that perform this work also. Yes, there ARE good ones out there.

I quit smoking 10+ years ago; losing weight; do not use salt much and little to no caffeine and alcohol. I take the meds also and still I do get episodes of Afib. I holding out hope that the re-do ablation will help so I can get off the beta blockers meds, for they slow you down over time. Been on beta blockers for almost 10-years. Have you talked with Cardiologist of implanting a Loop Recording Device? I started with PVC's and then A-Fib. I have a loop recording device under skin and it records Tach/Brady/SVT/A-fib episodes so the doctor can see monthly what is happening. My A-fib burden has increased so I am going to have my 2nd Ablation. Hopefully that will stop the episodes and we can reduce the beta blocker meds. You might want to consider talking with doctor about a Loop Recording device. You don't have to carry with you any other devices and worry about if they are waterproof. You also don't have to hook them up during an episode either. Once a loop recording device is implanted the battery is good for 3 years and it stays on 24/7. You don't have to do nothing special. My insurance paid for the minimal procedure to implant it and the monitoring. Something to look into.

As much as I get you not wanting to bash him it would be really nice to know who to avoid, I’ve been having heart problems that no one seems to be able to diagnose or explain and it’s absolutely terrifying, I have episodes where my hands and feet are like ice, I feel tired, feels like my heart is skipping beats randomly, sometimes my heart rate is super fast and other times it’s so slow, I’ve had AFiB two or three times as well so it’s just all horrible, I often have trouble sleeping worried I’m just gonna drop dead in my sleep because no one will even give me the time of day to try and help figure it out, I’ve seen multiple doctors and can’t even get them to do a holter monitor so they can see what I’m talking about as it can be so random, the US healthcare system is terrible at least with what I’ve experienced and I myself have been in the medical field for over a decade

But relaxing it stays around 70`s.The instructions that came with my heart finger monitor says that anything between 60 and 100 is normal. So who do you believe? Around month 8 I felt far less episodes until they've finally disappeared around month 10 - 12. I still get ectopics like crazy though!! The SVT ablation seemed to also fix my a-fib episodes as well. Good to hear your positivity - nothing like a run to raise the spirits. Hope your recovery is going well. I'm 68 and had a cryo-balloon ablation for my afib about 6 weeks ago here in England. I'm still feeling lots of ectopic beats but no actual afib since the ablation so far, though I do wish the ectopics would settle down. I'm running at the gym but slowed down by the sotolol (anti-arhythmic/beta blocker) I'm taking - can't get the ticker to go faster than about 110bpm. Also taking an anticoagulant (apixabin) of course which makes me wary of running outside for fear of a fall and causing a bleed. I'll go for a second ablation if the afib's not cured - 2nd time would be with rf catheter to plug any gaps around the pulmonary veins which the balloon might have missed. My ChadsVasc is only 1 (age) but that means I should stay on thinners though I'm thinking of risking a "pill in pocket" approach (see Ron Passman's brilliant lecture on this on TH-cam). I'd love to be off the sotolol and thinners! Wishing you the best for your recovery.

Been drinking coffee for 50 years. 8 years ago I developed atrial fibrillation(AFIB) after heart surgery to repair a valve. Controlled the AFIB with metropolol, worked great. But 4 months ago I developed atrial FLUTTER. Flutter is a scary condition. I had ablation done 1 month ago and it worked splendidly. The procedure was very easy (for me). It was then that I decided to also quit all caffeine cold turkey. Caffeine is not worth it. I actually do not miss it and believe I think more clearly and calmly without the jolt. YMMV. Weight control and moderate exercise are also important, or so the doctors tell me. Good luck to you.

Should have asked for a loop recorder. I wore a 24 hour, 2 week and 4 week monitor. Non of them caught much of anything. Then I got a loop recorder which caught 19 episodes of SVT over 170. The 2nd month caught 22 episodes and atrial tachycardia lasting over 4 hours. I’m pretty sure I was having all these episodes before the implant. I think the other ones aren’t that good. Hope you are able to get a successful ablation done. I hate this!
