Trying to unpick the sometimes bewildering topic of ADHD and friendship can be really tough. Problems with friendships for ADHDers are really common, and it's bloomin' hard navigating them sometimes. I've made this video for ADHDers and our neurotypical friends, so we can hopefully ease some of our guilt and normalise what it's like having friends and maintaining friendships with ADHD in the mix.

I'm currently on the waiting list to getting diagnosed, but my parents and a previous dr said that I didn't have ADHD. I did score 20 on this test though so they're wrong I guess. Also for putting stuff off to the last minute this is a daily thing for me, simply getting out of bed. I wait as long as I possibly can to get ready for work and on my days off I stay in bed until someone wants to do something with me, there are days I don't even get up cause of this. It's great fun

I got a 21 😬 but since I passed the Connors, my psychiatrist says I don’t have ADHD. I took phentermine for a little bit which is a diet pill and a stimulant. I always felt so at peace while on it. All the noise in my head would stop and I could focus. Immediately sat to fill out some paperwork I put off for two weeks. All of this and for some reason my doctor doesn’t agree.

It's tough to concentrate, whether I'm listening or walking; otherwise, I get distracted. Dad always said I had a magnetic personality, I always bumping into him. Sitting still is a nightmare; it's a real struggle. I try to stay calm, but my foot-tapping, finger-tapping, and doodling give me away. Basically, I'm always fidgeting. Sleep? I wake up every couple of hours. I can't remember the last time I slept through the night. But if I do, I miss alarms. Still, I'm up by 7 a.m. I usually hit the sack around 10:30 or 11, sometimes midnight, depending on gaming, but I'm up by 4 or 5 a.m. My brain just decides it's time, and then it's non-stop - chores, work, walking home. I love walking, btw. If I'd stayed off drugs in my early twenties, the military would've loved me. I did an 8-mile hike in 2 hours with one bottle of water. I still had tons of energy to go home and do housework and stuff. I find that even after work, after being on my feet all day, I still end up standing while watching TV and standing while eating dinner. I was diagnosed in the third grade, and then I got rediagnosed this year, when I turned 44. 'Cause I really felt like that ADHD. Well, I felt like I was in control. Am I in my mid-twenties through thirties? I've had many jobs because I'm meticulous. I also have a bit of OCD, and when people don't do their jobs the way they're trained or as policy dictates, and management doesn't address it, I fix things and get in trouble for doing my job. We have policies on stacking height for a reason, especially for presentation. Overstocked shelves are undesirable, yet apparently, doing things correctly-as trained-isn't what neurotypical people do.😊

This is exactly me right now. Just got diagnosed a few weeks ago, not before I diagnnosed myself because I could not stop trying to figure out my illness, until I seen someone on TT talking about ADHD, and I digged into it and suddenly my life finally made sense to me, even before officially getting diagnosed I was sure it's ADHD that I suffered from my whole life, now I am both happy and sad, happy that I finally found out my issue and I can make sense of everthing that had been happening to me, and sad that 38 years of my life has been wasted by this disease. But I'm really grateful for everything that happened to me so far, god will choose what better for me. I just hope that he forgive my dereliction in my duties toward him and my family. 🙏🏻

I got 14 - would have been higher except that for a couple of questions I have things I do to stop myself i.e. I never stand up when expected to stay seated... but sometimes I am jiggling my legs, shifting around, rocking in my seat (not enough to be obvious, but just enough to help me ease my tension. Or I daydream - go somewhere else for a while. Years of being told to sit down and stop shuffling/moving etc in Church taught me to stay put. Still painful for me now, but a habit formed to help me cope. Also, I finish peoples sentences... and I don't always manage to stop myself. So yeah, there's that annoying thing for me, as well as the telling my own version of the story to try and confirm I know how they feel - yet it's always read as me blowing my own horn or something. A bit hard to blow my own horn when I think so little of myself thanks to years of scathing tellings off for always talking about myself... And then, of course, there's the leaving stuff to the last minute... I cant/won't do this, after years of having to be someone's secretary and sorting all the stuff out. But I actually hate having to be in control and in charge of everything, because no-one else bothers to step forward and take over, or take care of it so I can have a break, without constantly questioning me on what they need to do. It's easier just to get up and do it/deal with it myself. Yeah, I'm a control freak, but I hate myself for it. I just can't relax unless I know things are done properly and won't need me to double handle it to ensure it's all been done right. In other words, how often do I actually relax? Hardly ever.
