Mazda Miata Swift Spring Upgrade | More Shock Travel!
Life has been absolutely wild! If you remember my last test event the Miata was having some handling issues aside from my terrible driving. We narrowed it down to my terrible spring rates with my OTS BC racing coilovers. I combat this with a set of SWIFT springs. Collin and I discover so so so much more wrong with my entire set up that just may hold the car back even more.

      The original tank has a line coming from the radiator to the reservoir cap going into the reservoir. Then that same reservoir cap has an overflow coming out that goes nowhere.

      @@zitroracing original hose from rad is basically l continuous to bottom of the tank, yours is from the bottom, but quite a large hole in side for "overflow" sure something gonna start living in there, would think there was a 90° like sight tube but not to thr bottom? Really the question is any leaks so far???

      @@stephencoulthard1718 ahh okay I see. Yes I figured there would be a 90° on that side as well. However I have a hose ran from that straight outlet up toward the cowl because during hard cornering I would actually spill out that port. After I ran the hose I haven’t had that problem. So far I’ve had zero structural problems with it. Only thing I have to say is it does grab heat and hold it more than a plastic one would.

      I don’t think it did but great question! Definitely meant to cover it. The spring rates that were on it are 500/335. I have now switched over to a lot higher rates. That I’ll cover in a later video! It is a crazy weird experience and I love the power! Can’t wait for you to get out there

      @@zitroracing yeah that’s soft! I run 900/700 on some whitener revalved bilsteins and fat cat top hats. Car rides great and handles curbs very nicely. Not sure if I’ll change that up to account for the supercharger install, extra canards, and splitter ramps yet. We’ll see how it does once I get back out there.

    How does manual brakes feel? Compared to the Miata boosted brakes? I myself have been thinking about it but could use some insight.

      Depends what you’re wanting out of your car. For racing I can feel the brakes and what they are doing way easier. Trail braking and initial input are what I want it to be. You can modulated braking in corners easier. If this was a daily car. I’d probably keep the boosted assembly. Not that manual brakes aren’t easy to drive around with. I just prefer boosted brakes on a street car.

    Im currently installing this kit in my NB, and really dont understant the bolt that slips in the side of the supercharger bracket for the belt tension adjustment. How do it do anytinh with only one nut on the outside? Or am i missing something?

      So you have the long bolt and the locking nut on the outside correct? You should have a square nut that goes on the other side of that on the inner side of the bracket. If you look it should be notched and that will give you a general idea of how big the square nut is. I misplaced mine at first and had to look for it.

    Hey, cool video! Shopping different oil cooler kits for my track and it was nice to see the TDR setup more in depth. My main gripe is the oil cooler line routing. Where you have it routed through the sway bar bracket. The problem with this is that you should really be using the racing beat sway bar bracket re-enforcements which take up that space. Tracked miatas have a habit of breaking those sway bar mounts off entirely if not supported with the racing beat (or similar) braces.

    Cool videos dude. On my turbo track car I fought spark blow out issues, ended up with a Toyota COP conversion. That worked for about a year, then i'd get more spark blow out, ended up replacing the coils and I was back in action. Then about a year and a half later, again with the blow out. Finally I went with the Flowforce LS coil setup and it's been bulletproof, 308whp on e85, even with spark plug gaps as big as .032. Highly recommend it, I think the COP style setup on a track car was just too much heat. And the OE coil system couldn't even handle 200whp on my car. Anyways you got a sub out of me, keep the content coming, let's see some rips and a fresh dyno on this thing now that it's fixed!

    I'm also running a Haltech Elite 1500 in my turbo MX5, are you still running wasted spark ignition? Not too hard to change to sequential with the Haltech and halve the load on your coils. I'm running the Halech IGN-1A coils, doesn't matter what your gap is they're going to fire.

      At the time I only had the OEM setup available. It now has MaXSpark IGN-1A and sequential

      Kit is definitely worth it. You’re looking at that or more for similar FI kits. That’s if the other companies have parts in stock! TDR has everything available with a great support team.

    Love your video but noticed this. On the long lower bolt for that goes through the power steering bracket, you purchased a 100 mm long bolt and installed a nut on it. 30:19 That bolt should have gone all the way through the other boss with the sliding sleeve. If you would have used a longer bolt, as you tighten it, the sleeve pushes in until it goes against the delete bracket that was the second part you installed from Track Dog. The result would be a stronger connection, that mimics how the factory power steering was set up.

      Correct! at the time the part wasn’t available so I had to make due with what I had in my area. TDR sent me a bolt as soon as it was available. I now have the proper bolt in place.

      That was the same issue I had. I really wanted to keep them 😭 but it just took up too much space. Would take some pretty wild pipe work to make work.
