Absolute Zero- Interstellar’s Lost Prologue
Wow, 3rd movie already. Jesus.
@@ibuydigital1574 Yep. They’ve been cranking them out, but they’ve all been pretty fun so far.
Didn’t know Detective Pikachu was that good. Also, I loved the Street Fighter movie as a kid.
@@supermanthology It’s a fun movie. Steals its whole climax from Batman ‘89.
This current generation of VG movies have been entertaining and I'm glad things have improved. The early days when studios flipped the IP just to make a buck could have killed this whole thing. It seems the success of comic book, specifically marvel movies have help studios gain more confidence in VG IP to do movies like Mario bros. And sonic. I'm curious to see what mortal Kombat does next. This was a great video. I feel like any one that was a kid in the 90's feel some type of way about this topic. Plus Mortal Kombat is still a great movie. I stand on that.
@@brianwj5 I’m glad you dig it. I tried rewatching it a few years ago and couldn’t get through it.
What do you think about the quality of video game movies and shows today? Let me know here, and be sure to like, share and subscribe to the channel if you dig the videos!
Yucky! I hate ali! All of the roles he's done, I'll just leave my Blade comic books in the plastic and bubble wrap until I'm old af, then look at them with rubber gloves and plastic....
So is he stronger than knull cant be right ?
Crap Villain..for a crap movie like Venom waste of money and energy
So he was banished with the decapitated celestial head..?
Could you do Killer Moth next please?
@@sirjimothythe1st I haven’t made one of these in over a year. They require a lot of research and Shorts don’t pay. If my long form videos start performing consistently well, I plan on returning to this series in the future. I’ll definitely put Killer Moth on the list.
I prefer to watch 5 minute recaps videos of movies on youtube on my smartphone vs the actual movies😂
Fascinating. Excellent essay. I agree that the current trend to long run times is a bit much since the lines are so blurred with what constitutes entertainment and the formats and forms they exist within. Movies by their very nature are to be short and sweet, not long and arduous.
@@elichilton7031 Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching.
There is no expectation to read a 700 page book in a single sitting, while there is an outspoken expectation from creators to watch a movie in a single setting
I absolutely agree with you and really hate how everyone just says it's an attention span thing, despite the fact that it's been getting longer over time. I'm not a tiktok type of person, I mostly engage with long form content, and I don't consider myself to have any attention difficulties, but there's a point where it becomes way too much. If I can avoid it, I don't want to have to pause or leave a movie to get up to pee. I don't want to begin to get uncomfortable sitting in the same position for hours on end, feeling like I need to get up and stretch my legs or something. When your movie starts to go beyond about 2:30 I start to think about it differently when I'm planning to watch it. Pushing it off, carving out larger and larger chunks of time in my schedule, reducing fluids before, etc. If writing is good, you can do a lot with minimal time. So many movies are BRILLIANT and they're like 90 minutes. I appreciate those films far more. This isn't saying every scene in every movie has to rush or be fast paced, but it needs to convey information intentionally without being unnecessarily redundant. Like you said, I'm not saying long movies are bad. I love the extended cuts of Lord of the Rings. Seven Samurai and Godfather Part 2 are both amazing examples of long movies that fly by. I actually thought Oppenheimer was very well done for how long it is. If the content is necessary to the story, include it, but it needs to justify its runtime. The more content you add, the more things can go wrong. Making your movie long and then having parts that don't hit is a sure way to make your audience start to grow fatigued. For anything in life that you're selling, you always want your audience to be left wanting more, not wishing it wrapped up an hour ago. I'll be the one to say it if nobody else will, it's something that in recent years I've grown to dislike about many of Scorsese's films. Not just Irishman, Casino I think is another movie that doesn't need to be nearly as long as it actually is. Killers of the Flower Moon is I think my favorite of his longer films, but even that has fat that can be cut. To me Taxi Driver is the best film he ever made, and it's also the shortest. Raging Bull is only 2 hours but I thought it had redundant scenes that could have been shorter. The frustrating thing is also when a movie is long and you don't enjoy it. Every slight on a long movie for me has a 2x frustration multiplier. If I watch a bad 90 minute movie, I could watch a whole other good 90 minute movie before Killers of the Flower Moon even finishes. That's not an attention thing, that's just the reality of time management when you're busy.
@@mossicely Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Try Satantango, a masterpiece of slow cinema.
THE GODFATHER losing the entire Sicily sequence...? Sorry. No. Just...NO.
@@THEBURNETTWORK Umm, this isn’t actually THE Robert Meyer Burnett is it?
@@NerdonFilm It is indeed...I have to keep up with the competition! BTW...I did enjoy your video very much...even though you're wrong...lol!
@@THEBURNETTWORK Wow. Not sure I’m much competition just yet 😂, but thanks for watching. Can’t wait to check out True Noir.
It also wouldn't make any sense cutting it. We don't see how Michael is doing during his exile. We don't get to see what prompted him to return (Apollonia exploding in the car) and it's a nice way to break up the pace from all the political and shady dealings in New York.
@@salmanedy I never suggested cutting the entire subplot. I’m saying it could’ve been cut down considerably and still have gotten the point across.
If the movie FEELS long, its a bad movie. Length doesnt matter. There hasnt been a 100 hour movie that was ever good. In terms of short movies, its a bit different. Great short films exist. And terrible feature length films exist that just suddenly end leave you wondering wtf was all that mess.
Cinema is dead. Thanks Netflix
I support long films as a bulwark against the ever advancing tide of ADHD driven content in our TikTok Twitter World.
I think that the golden standard for long movies was the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Lastly the only 3h movies that didn’t bore me to sleep in the theater were the Dune movies and the freshly released Count of Monte Cristo. What do they have in common ? They’re book adaptations. And we’re talking about massively popular classics. I think that the only stories worth spending 3h+ in a theater are those masterfully crafted by a professional writer. Stories so dense that you have to remove stuff to make it watchable.
when its needed for the story sure, but at this point they're doing it to funnel money from the company execs
Come on bruh are we gonna pretend that Kevin smiths he-man wasn't ass primarily because it lacked focus on he-man. I'm surprised it even fell into his hands when his flops were all pretty well known by then
your attention spans are just too short lol
@@thesingularbean5915 I have a great attention span when it comes to movies, but I don’t have all day to dedicate to them.
@@NerdonFilm Yea, that sounds like it's short to me. If I have to pay that much to go to a cinema, it's best I get my money's worth with a longer experience.
i'm no movie buff but this complaint comes off as misinformed to the point that it's 'not even wrong.' i might come back to this comment and vent
@@tyler-xo3rb Please do.
i’ve been saying this!! nothing makes me happier than seeing a movie i want to watch being 1hr40min 😍😍 i definitely need to be in a veeeeeery specific place of mind to sit down for anything over 2hrs
@@shm4el 2 plus hours I can handle. 3 plus is where I have trouble.
Yes, 100 minutes is the sweet spot. I can certainly watch longer ones but very few are engaging for 2.5 hours, much less 3.
Films are definitely getting longer for no good reason. So much bloat to cut.
@@kahvikone Agree 90% of the time, that’s the case.
I love when you hit the 90 minute mark of a 3hr movie and the mid point feels like It’s coming to the end of the film and you are HOOKED because you’re in disbelief about the way the movie is ending and then you become even more invested in the happy ending because when things went bad you felt bad.
@@seadnamaccasarlaigh279 That’s an interesting perspective. Never thought of that.
False they need to be longer and broken up into parts and adding back intermissions
Sounds a lot like television. Maybe you just want to watch television.
There’s too many damn movie reviewer TH-cam channels whining about everything
@@Maxam-vn3gu Waaaahhhhhh!
I’ve started watching moving more frequently and let me tell you, one of the deciding factors for me to press play is the runtime.
@@supermanthology Me too. That’s why I’m so behind.
now explain why
So the Celestial headed ended up with Knull "further into his void?" Rather convenient.
As someone that can’t binge watch, it’s difficult for me to dedicate 3.5 hours, especially if it’s unfamiliar. Your point on The Irishmen is spot on. I find myself splitting long ass movies to 2/3 parts, basically a mini series, watching over the course of a day or two. Also, I gotta pee! Bring back intermissions if it’s 3 hours lol
@@MeechDetroit I personally feel like intermissions just make it worse by making it longer. Just give me a movie without the fat.
Rebel Moon Part One taught me that, if the runtimes a bit much, chuck it into 1.5x speed. Close enough to the regular experience and makes the movie shorter. Nice. James Cameron and Scorsese should try that sometime.
I might give that a shot 🤔.
Yes. I also like to eat food without chewing
Ducks have life figured out.
Some movies need extra time some need less. Run times don't matter to me if the story is told correctly. The main issue is with editing and pacing. You could watch a 5 hour movie and if it holds your attention and keeps you wanting throughout I don't think you would really notice.
@@DullBoy23 I agree, but that said (this is a point I make in the video), nearly every movie over three hours that I’ve seen could stand to lose some bloat.
@@NerdonFilm Granted. Every long movie that has been made could lose some bloat, it's a point that is made on every video that discusses run times being too long. That being said there is no movie that has perfect editing or pacing, but if there was I still don't think you would notice all that much.
Are you sick of movies being too damn long? Let me know here in the comments, and be sure to like, share, and subscribe if you dig the video. Every little bit helps. Thanks!
I have no idea who TJ Miller is apart from his unfunny appearance in deadpool.
This reinforces the very first article of my personal code of professional conduct. On The Job Rule #1) Don't shit where you eat.
Someone should remind the national horse of Italy.... The ego is NOT your amigo.
Thank you for this
Marvel dead make a mistake by giving Spider-Man to Sony that is the mistake that marvel did and it was stupid
Sad what they did to him.
Where can I read comics for free online??
Blade 3 had a stupid script, a forgettable villain, too much focus on the wacky cast of characters, and a regrettable tone shift. ...and you think Snipes was the problem? Nah, son, Denzel couldn't even save that trash.
Maybe Ryan Reynolds did exactly what Miller accused him of because he was sick of Miller’s BS.
Love TJ, great guest on LOS
@@RasTex512 LOS?
Liked his character.. didn't feel much was lost because there were so much less scenes with friends & family in D&W but if it was there.. I'd definitely feel something was missing. Their banters and his dry humor was so funny.
