❤ loved the idea of the title of this podcast which is exactly the title of Cesare Beccaria ' s masterpiece "Of crimes and punishements". Three things must be considered basic for a justice system in my humble opinion: 1 the State can only be the administrator of justice. No crime can be persecuted by the victim, whatever the gravity could be 2 certainty and proportion of punishment 3 Always consider the criminal a person who, after having paid his due for what he committed, comes back into society where he must find a way to reintegrate and not to commit a crime anymore. Thanks a lot from Gianluca in the outskirts of Milan ( where obviously one of the city prison for young criminals, whose aim is to yield to change their attitudine towards behaviour in life, is called " Cesare Beccaria" Bye
The cormoros Islands offer citizenship to Bidoon for some financial incentive.
I found your voice is similar with Cambridge listening audio's.
A…compliment, right?
Thank you very mach. It was an interesting story, a lot of good words and expressions with short definitions. Well done, it was really useful for me!
Very glad to hear it :)
Another quick note, I believe you are mispronouncing J.K. Rowling's surname. She said once people misprounce her name so often that she stopped correcting them, but I think you should go with how she herself prounces Rowling (on YT there are clips of her pronouncing her name).
Just a quick note, "transgenderism" is a term that's generally disliked in the LGBTQ+ community as it is mainly used by people who are against trans rights. They use "transgenderism" similarly to "trans ideology", to make it sound like it's an ideology (or a cult even) and not an identity. I think it's unfortunate that you would use this term. I recognise you tried not to take any sides in the episode, but "transgenderism" is strongly connected with anti-trans views. I think "J. K. Rowling and trans people" would have been a better title. (Please note I am not trans myself, just reporting on what I have seen many trans people say. There for sure are trans people who are completely fine with the term, but many view it as troubling or even offensive because of how often it is used against trans people).
By the way do not mind the avatar i dont know how to change it
Thank you brother, quite an interesting story

Happy birthday 🎂 🎈 🎈🎈🎈🎈
thank you Laura :)
It's the first time I know the name of Robert Fortune. As a Chinese,I have learnt Opium Wars and our huge losses several times but never heard of this botanist behind the East India Company. For us, he's definitely a thief accelerating the invasion of colonists. But I have to admit that his wisdom impressed me. When it comes to history and politics, the opinion always depends on which side we stand, so I believe his success is meaningful for the British tea lovers.( but still personally criticize all warmonger!)
good perspective!
Congradulation sir 🎉🎉 Keep your journey of making podcast for English learners, It really helpful
Thank you, we will :)
Congrats for reaching 500 episodes 🥳
thank you very much!
Thanks for this great video. A sedentary lifestyle and a diet with processed foods are the chief reasons for accelerating obesity rates in every country. In Vietnam, it was seldom to see an overweight kid back in the 1990s due to the poor diet. However, it is easy to spot obese children on the street nowadays due to the lack of regular exercise and a diet with excessive amounts of fat.
Is there a transcript for this ?
Hi there. The interactive transcripts (with translations in 12 languages) and study packs for every episode are available on our website. Here's the page for this episode: www.leonardoenglish.com/podcasts/christian-the-lion
I don’t really get the pétanque joke. In Italy and the US it’s called bocce, in the UK it’s called bowls, or lawn bowling. There are slight differences in the rules and techniques, but some variation of the idea is played all over the West. It’s not a uniquely French thing.
