Marathon Training When Injury Strikes
What's worse than sore muscles? An injury. As I approach race day (about 1 month out) I have started to feel some pain... In this video I will explain how I am navigating my current injury as I continue to train for my first ultramarathon. Since it's coming up in a few weeks time, I'll also show you what I'm doing differently in my training to acommodate this injury while maintaining my fitness.

    Whoop, to me, has always been a marketing scam for athletes. If you're not a "big (meaning size, ie fenix instinct) Garmin watch" person, there are thinner lighter versions. I sleep with my instinct on. The only time I realize I'm wearing it is when I try and slide my hand under the wife's head. Other than that, Garmin all day 100

    I love Garmin wearables, but I keep getting a skin rash from wearing them continuously. Any tips to fix this? I want to wear it 24/7, but the rash makes me take it off for two days to heal.

      I have the same issue. I've found keeping a cotton ball or cotton round like a makeup remover tucked under the strap to absorb extra moisture helps. Once a rash breaks out, I use aquaphor

      Maybe get a different strap? I have a cheap nylon strap from Amazon and it's pretty comfortable for me.

    You don’t have to worry about scratching your garmin screen. It’s pretty much bomb proof.

    Yes to eating whatever 🤣😂. I've dedicated 1 or 2 cheat weeks in this marathon block. Frozen pizzas, ice cream, doritos (not much alcohol, because 1 can turn into many real quick). It keeps eating interesting and gives you crazy fuel reserves.

    Best of luck healing and with the ultra. You may remember, I had an injury right before my 50k and I really had to cut back and let my body recover. Luckily, it did, and I had a fairly pain-free race. Sounds like you're doing all of the right things. Looking forward to hearing how the race goes.

I ultimately exchanged them for another pair of Hoka Clifton 9’s as my feet were starting to hurt even on short runs, however I believe that is just due to how wide my foot is so I would still recommend them!
