Playstation 1 came out in 1994 and for its time it was amazing how the devs had to figure out creative ways to implement lights when there was no real way of adding multiple lights to the scene which caused to be some really interesting look effects and gave the ps1 signature look In this video i talked about a few interesting ways the devs had to fight against the limited hardware of the PS1 c...

Really needed some quick inspiration and ideas and this was exactly what i was looking for!
Thx master
Thank you so much, keep up the good work
u re so unfunny dude
Would you recommend following this tutorial or are the past ps1 style horror videos still relevent etc. seem to get a lot of errors for the past ones. Thanks
the post processing wont apply to the main cammeraa
Tutorial, please!! 😢😢😢
tyyyy broo, u r so coool
Thank you!
hi! my trees are broken and its has some black things around it. and i cant edit the shaders of it pls helpppp
mine shows error o cant set this up help
yo dude i have been making a game, and i suck at models, you wanna team up or something, i need PS1 graphics too so if you want to just reply
Yh sure sounds nice, drop your discord :D
@@aidencantcode where could i do that but would be private

13:53 how can i instal that Global Volume?
THE POST PROCESS VOLUME WON'T WORK
didya install the post processing stack? by unity?
If you use URP, it's not necessary to install an extra package for post-processing effects. URP is not compatible with the Post Processing Stack v2 package. URP comes with its own post-processing solution, which works straight out of the box.
This is god damn gorgeous.
Predetermined angles, he made 2d objects from few sides Time consuming process
It's mostly 3D objects (other than foliage billboards and particle effects). t3ssel8r does a short video showing how he makes his models
Fucking boolshit… i fucked with the light like in your video around 5 hours and it’s didn’t work at all… Step by step i’d copy ur video guide and it’s nothing Wtf
I think the texture art style looks perfect and thank you for such an informative tutorial I think the vortex wobble effect you managed to replicate isn’t quite as subtle as it was on PSX, if you were able to tone down this effect or play with a different plugin I think this would be absolutely perfect, I’d also recommend dithering your textures, while you’ve achieved an accurate low res texture look, dithering will just give it that little something extra that you didn’t even know it needed. It looks really good regardless and I’m being very picky, thanks again!
I think using Godot for games like this is a much better choice. Unity has a greedy monetization model, where as Godot is completely free. The fancy features Unity has over Godot is rarely useful in these types of games.
Looks good, How did you make the terrain? And the water?
This is actually one of the better videos I have found so far teaching how to create PS1 style games. Honestly only thing missing is teaching how to set up NPC/Enemies and items, that would have made a pretty good short tutorial.
by using "Auto" for the lights, there comes an issue where the light go dark when at a certain distance or looking at certain angles? should the lights still be auto?
if you are using URP, in the main "assets" folder find the folder "settings" and and click on the URP high fidelity renderer or whatever you are using, then in the inspector in the right is an option called rendering path, change it to forward+ or deferred, now you can have many lights!
@@AKiCK.Studios thanks for the tip, but... I don't use urp
@@AKiCK.Studios figured I'll just keep it as is cuz the game is PS1 style and the PS1 had technical limitation so it's fine. it's kind of a bad excuse to not fix a problem but yeah
@@zenpresentt im pretty sure you can change it in project settings in the graphics tab
@@AKiCK.Studios yeah I got it per pixel light count but that's for lights that have rendering set to important
What is inside the house ? Your game is scary and weird I like it
Why the psx error "fog not suitable"
i dont have any forward renderer in the project and i i dont see any add renderer feature button
This is pretty helpful! Thank you so much!
ah link doesnt work, got another one?
Is there a way to use this with alpha textures?
lol it's me again but this time it's a worse issue. Basically, is there any way to convert this whole shader into Deferred instead of using Forward since there is a bug with Forward that makes lights disappear when looked at from certain angles? This gets fixed when using Deferred, but I can't switch to it since the shader is using forced Forward.
Thanks FOR SHARING
u re funny dude
is there any way to disable or at least decrease the amount of PSX vertex movements this shader causes cuz my game has a really bad looking ground texture when I move?
yes there is, each material has an override option where u can change that specific materials data so u can change that specific objects mesh data such as the jittering
@@aidencantcode nevermind, I managed to fix it by subdiving the mesh in Blender and then reimporting it into Unity.
Can you use this on hdrp?
is this work with URP?
helppp when i use Retro 3D shader all the materials are pink :(
yeah you gotta go into the textures and re-add them
Bro i cannot follow your other tutorials because you dont link the models used in the video
Can't find the link to the Retro shader. Some help ?
how do you find faces?
Thank you so much for this amazing video
Thank you ☝️
Thank you so much bro
Can you make a video about how to make my text look like it is rendered in vhs and ps1 styled ? I have my camera and all effect making the game look blurry and all but my text looks very sharp.
set ur cavas to world scale
@@aidencantcode I did it and it introduced more problems. I was looking for a way like to make it be like screenspace-Overlay but the effects have affect on the canvas too.
@@Bat_pann Set the canvas to screen space overlay and have a second camera just for your UI in the Render Camera spot with its own PP stack on it so you can still get some VHS effects on the text but not too much to make them unreadable.
@@GameDevelopmentBeyondTheBasics Thank you, tried to do it this way before and I couldn't you know add the Stack to my project. What I did was actually use ScreenSpace Camera and Canvas Distance to 0.1 and just added a Virtual Camera to my Own Camera so I could Reduce the Camera Clipping Distance to 0.002 and It fixed the bug for me. Wasn't easy to figure it out but It did the job.
Thank you man, Perfect video and tutorial. Hope all the best for you.
the blending part on panorama didnt work for me at first but i managed to do it myself , seems like u skipped that part
thanks for the tutorial
where can i find the camera filter texture to add
