SQ5 MagnaFlow Exhaust & ECS X-Pipe Install
How do you like the wheel spacers? Can you feel a difference?
Would you recommend the Current harness? I’ve started a similar build with an 2008 auto swapping to LS and manual ar5. I’m 2 hours south of you and would love to pick your brain on a few things.
Isn’t the yellow dot on tire is supposed to line up with valve stem
any link on that strut tower brace?
I watched parts 1-5 yesterday, and plan on series today. I'm amazed, brother. You make this massive project look so simple and straightforward. Can I ask what you do for a living?
Where did you get the bump stops?
For Radiator hoses you could of just bought stock Radaitor hoses for a 09-12 Colorado with a 5.3.
It’s cool on paper but I feel like day to day it’s impossible to really enjoy. Anytime you give it quarter throttle it will start sliding
Apologies if you've answered this a billion times before, but out of curiosity, what would you say the overall cost totaled to for something like this when everything was done? And do you think it was all worth doing?
Nice video! What size us the star? 10 point ? Tool needed to remove disc? And the calibers don't push straight back in to open for the new pads?
Bit to remove disc is a T30 torx I from what I remember. Usually to get the caliper piston back in you need a special tool. Sometimes you can use a wrench or pry bar, but be careful not to damage the piston.
The bit was a t30 ? Okay I thought a 10 point MM something??
The carrier bolts were torque heads 14mm ?? Nice done video
Thanks! - 14mm triple square (12 point)
Torque specs for reinstall?
Caliper to carrier - 26 ft lbs Carrier to hub - 148 ft lbs Rotor set screw - 3 ft lbs (hand tight)
Anything you would have done differently if you started the swap from scratch again?
I would have gone standalone vs adapter harness and factory style ECU. Easier to tune and more flexibility in the long run.
@@fixedoncars Awesome, thanks for the reply man. I just ordered my L96 yesterday and have everything else ready to go. I was bummed because I wanted to go the OEM route but Current Performance doesnt support the earlier trucks to Gen IV so I opted for the Holley Terminator. Your videos were a huge help to me when collecting parts over the last year.
@@fixedoncars Just finished my swap and had one more question for you: Does your clutch feel like it bucks a little in reverse and first gear?
Well is an Audi 💀
Loving the build man. White and black combo looks great!
Thanks!
Cat or no cat?
The cat does not exist
Love the series! I'm looking to do a very similar swap, any updates on the project?
I'll get an update out soon!
This is not on Copart but the owner of the vehicle, at this point Copart is being scammed which is being passed to the buyer. Copart has hundreds of thousands if not millions of vehicles on inventory and a car report really adds up to them which is why they really encourage this type of DD 9n the buyers part. You did an awesome detective work by researching this car but the true mastermind on this scheme is on the seller and not the middle man (Copart).
I’m thinking about buying a VW vortex cold air intake what is your opinion on that brand? Or I was thinking about a K$N air filter. I’m trying to decide which one is better I have the exact same car as you just a 2016.
I personally would go for a reputable VW performance brand like APR or 034. They may be a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for.
Great build on my favorite truck platform. Came to get ideas on a project I’m building using a Vortec 5.7 L31 350 K1500 99 donor. Colorado motor mounts are offset within the upper control arm area but not equal as the steering shaft shifts the mounting positions. Waiting on some 1/4 steel to use the clam shell motor mounts which pushes the 350 forward of the sway bar with clearance for the distributor. Update: K1500 motor mounts step which helped clear the rack and pinion , had to invert a nut and bolt for clearance issues with the steering shaft. Tricky to shoehorn a 350 into a 355 (especially using factory exhaust manifolds and mounts). Theres a few who say they have done but other than a picture there’s no evidence of it being done. Just might upload a video to redeem myself!

This is original paint??
Yes
Kinda late, I’m looking to get a cts for my tdi, or another brand, but worried abt rain? Any recommendations?
Closed airbox is better from a heat standpoint and should give you more protection from rain. Open is going to give more sound... its really up to you depending on what you want. I think CTS is a good mix of quality/price.
same thing happened to me with my ls swapped g35. I had to add an additional power wire to the alternator since my wiring specialties harness wasn't giving enough power...issue sounds similar to
Good to know it wasn't just my swap!
How has this transmission held up behind a 6 liter???
Fine, but I admittedly haven't beat the sh*t out of it in order to save the trans. I've heard they can handle ~600 whp or so.
The Aisin AR5 is a great transmission used by Grassroots and FaBbot 2j and LS based for under 400hp and 6k rpm. In factory application the 355 Colorado’s 6.3k factory redline is too much and eats synchros etc. throw on a performance clutch and things worsen. Currently on my 13th!!!! I’m probably why they are pricey!!! The rears as well as G80 lockers and the AAM are no match for high rpm like lsd etc.
Did you install flappers for the shroud ...losing a lot of efficiency without them
Yes, they are on there
Hi! Where exacly did you put your car jack under your car? I've search for a second lifting point in order to be able to do what you did in the video with de stand + the car jack! Thank you
You have two options as far as I know. I jacked up slightly behind the jacking point on the frame rail and then put the stand under the jack point. You can also put jack stands under the front subframe. Check out this thread - www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/jacking-points-axle-stands.314507/
Which wiring harnesss from current do I need is it the stand alone integrated harness? Help ‼️😭😭
It’s the 04-12 Colorado/Canyon “direct fit harness”. You’ll complete an order form and answer a bunch of questions to spec it out for your swap.
@@fixedoncars thank you
Question bro I have the same set up mines a 5 speed too my 5.3 is a fully built racing engine I just wanted to know what electric fan you use and what front accessories drive did you use like is it a truck front accessories drive or is it off a Camaro or something I’m tryna save myself a lot of headache.
I cover the fan/shroud in one of the videos. I can’t remember which but I give all the details. I used the truck accessories and had no issues with this setup.
@@fixedoncars thank you
Current Performance are terrible at tuning. In my experience everything was wrong. Open loop tables hell even the displacement info was wrong.
I believe it...
current performance sells the modified ignition switch so you can start it with your key lol
hey sir! love this video. how easy was it making the slats match the surrounds? the m2 i bought prev owner switched to carbon and didnt retain the m2 badge so i wanted to get oem ones to swap over to the surrounds
It’s not bad. Removing the grill from the car is the biggest pain. You just have to take your time so that you don’t break the little clips that hold the surround to the grill. Outside of that it’s pretty easy. Good luck!
18 mins later ffs the mileage was put back dont need a video that long to tell that
Is this the same process for a manual 2017 VW Alltrack?? Thanks
Yes, it should be the same!
It would be great if u can help me finding the harnesses anyways love your videos bro keep it up👍
Hey do u have a link to where u got the harnesses i have a automatic transmission and i basically trying to do the same thing like u did i have a 2005 colorado and i want to put a Gen III 5.3 Lm7 in it
Current Performance Wiring - Check out their site
@@fixedoncars witch one did you get for yours?
I have a 2005 with the 3.5l, and I wanted to go towards the off-road route. I just stumbled on your video, and now i want a V8 in mine, lol.
Do it!!!
You could have retained factory height shocks in the rear as blocks dont change the shock length required. Absolutely love the wheels and tires you chose
How has ride quality been so far? Any updates?
Ride is slightly worse than stock… as expected. It’s a bit stiffer and worse over bumps but IMO the decrease in body roll is worth it. Hope that helps!
Hey bro, im doing a ls swap in my Chevy Colorado, and your build has been helping me a lot. Thank you ! What did you use for the transmission stick ?
I just used the factory one... I think Fabbot has an aftermarket option, but the factory one should work no problem. Good luck!
VWs are a bunch of clown car engineering with all their unneeded special tools.
yes.
Nice series i am currently getting all my parts together to do my swap this spring/summer. Definitely inspiring!
Volkswagen just asked for 570$ to change the rear breaks xD
You can do it yourself for less than $150!
Awesome series! thanks!
Is the engine still for sale?
Sold a while ago
Wouldnt hooker manifolds work better. They are closer to the block....
Sounds great!
Thanks! Making a few more tweaks to the exhaust because it is LOUD. Hope to have another video out soon
I have a small block 6.0 Ls, that has been chipped. Originally I purchased the 6.0 with intent of swapping it into a S10. I also have a brand new 4l80e hooked up with the 6.0. I'm really wondering how easy the swap is(like does it bolt up/ fit without major clearance issues.) before I go purchase a Colorado.
If you buy the correct mounts it should bolt right in. Look at CP mounts.
Awesome thx for responding, can’t wait to watch the whole series. Really good so far👌🏽
Amazing machine. I have a 2018 M2 LCI 6spd. Absolutely love the n55b. Had money for both this or the m2c and I just love the m2 og lci. Can’t go wrong with either.
I agree! So far its been a great car. The N55 is a beast for what it is...
I prefer the vrsf cat less. Zero fitment issues and amazing sound and performance.
