Bronco Raptor Ultimate Overland Build: Update 1: Starting Our Modifications
Trail update my friend just in case you decide to go back, 7-7-24 we visited Hurricane Creek Trail and the entire trail has been graded! No more obstacles of any sort, just a smooth ride with the creek crossings.
Wow! That is pretty wild. I wonder how often they do this.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor That question my friend I can’t answer, but at least they’re keeping it taken care of as needed I guess and not closing it to the public like other trails.
What happened???
The first version of this bumper was secured to the frame gussets using nut clips. Basically, all 6 nut clips sheared and mounting points at bumper flexed and bent. The bumper ripped off (as you can see) but this also cause damage to wiring, gussets, grill, etc. it was not a fun fix. ADD did sent me a redesigned bumper which they switched to using quality nuts and bolts along with frame reinforcement t brackets. I feel much better and confident now. Was no a very fun experience, though.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor oh gosh! I’m glad they sent you a new and stronger bumper! Hopefully these bolts don’t break!
What happened at the big obstacle between the “rock/tree” and the muddy ruts near the end ? We took some vintage vehicles on the trip and got hung up on the one you didn’t include in the video.
Yeah. A little bit of a brain fart. We made it through fine, my daughter spotted for me again, but I forgot to set up my tripod 😞 Was sort of bummed, but I was focusing on the trail. I had to run my passenger tire right along that edge, so that I didn’t run too high up the wall on the drivers side.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor yeah we did it a couple months back in some vintage Scouts and flat fender jeeps. My video is on my channel at “Vintage Overlanding” I had the scout on two wheels on that one. It was crazy
😳 yikes! Will have to check it out!
Thanks for the video. I'm curious to see how it is holding. Any issues. I hear that the turn signal won't work with the headlights ON. Can you confirm
Thanks for watching!!! I can confirm that the turn signals work perfectly well with the headlights on!
Enjoyed the video! What’s the dog bed you have? I’m looking for something like that for mine. Thanks!
In this video that is Colt. He enjoys his bed 😀😀😀😀 It is a Petco/Backcountry Cot that I bought at Amazon, but it seems to be unavailable right now. Thanks for watching!! That was a fun trip.
Beautiful bronco. Boy I would like to see how much it weighs now with all those accessories on it!!
I keep meaning to hit a CAT Scale to see. I will try to do this soon.
About to bring my f150 raptor there next week! Hopefully not to many close by scrubs
You will have fun!! Not too many tight spots, but a spotter would be nice for a couple of those obstacles/washouts.
We rode that back in April, very pretty place!
Totally agree!!! It is a very scenic track. It was a great day. I have seen some videos. from a few years back showing it used to be pretty technical.
Nice 👍
Appreciate it. We try to stay fit, so we have plenty of time to adventure. 😀
Great video, we are doing this run 4th of July weekend. We can’t wait.
It is a real cool track. So much amazing scenery and great campsites. It sure was fun! Thanks for watching!
Would be nice if the gazelle 10 had a canopy coming off the front office for about 5 or 6 7 ft
I agree!!!! That would be great, since we always bring out popup canopy when we are out with the whole family.
Thanks for the video. Subscribed! From your videos, it appears we may live in the same region. I'm near Hendersonville, NC. My wife and I are always looking for exploring buddies. If you're close enough, contact us sometime. Anyway, I've done Hurricane several times and your video has me wanting to go again! I'd love camping out on the trail, but concerned of doing it alone. Happy Trails, Tony
Thanks for watching!!! This was our second time there, and it definitely has changed a bit. I have yet to camp there, either, but will have to some day!
Awesome! Come visit our animals sometime 🎉
Thanks for watching!!! Will need to for sure.
I am going in a few days. Did you camp overnight on one of the astropads? I have one reserved.
I have not camped on the astropads. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to have a campfire and you have to mind any lighting.
Great video! Are you interested in spare tire sponsorship for this bronco?
Thanks for watching. We are glad you like it. The Bronco has been a great and fun rig. I already have a spare tire brake light for the Bronco, so I am not sure if you have anything else. We love the Suparee light on our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon!!!!
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor Great! We just sent you an email. Please reply with the more detials on your Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. So that we can recommend the suitable lighting stuff.
Can’t see what you are doing. Video is a waste of time
Thanks for watching, though. Sorry you did not like it.
Video is waste of time. No detail
Thanks for watching, though. Sorry you did not like it.
Do you remember the channel where the Jeep went off the side ?
I do not! I could not imagine. That is my wife’s worst nightmare. There is a video of a 4Runner going off the side of Hurricane Creek. Nightmare scenario!!!
If a light goes out, is it possible to replace a bulb or need a new 3rd light
The way the LED strip is made, the unit would have to be replaced.
Does this help.with using your cell.phone as a hotspot for streaming?
It will not make something from nothing, but it has helped us in the mountains of TN & GA for sure during out trips. I would assume that with the signal boosted, it could help with streaming.
Did you go back and do the other road at the top? I’m planning to try it soon. I ran the first quarter mile and it’s pretty lively.
I did not. I have heard that there is a gate at the other end, so it is meant to technically be closed.
Definitely a nice setup/build.
Appreciate you watching and commenting. We have a great time on the trails and camping with this rig. Even with the issues we have had, it is a great rig.
Your setup is great. It's such a good looking rig. Hope to see you on the trail soon!
Thanks a bunch!!! Would be great to see you out for sure!
Awesome setup my friend and it’s definitely a trail worthy/ready rig for sure. I see you have the WeBoost setup and was curious on your thoughts about it, I’m thinking of purchasing it for cell service while trail riding but haven’t seen any reviews on it, any thoughts on it would be appreciated greatly.
Thanks for watching and commenting Frank!! I do like the WeBoost. It has helped me in the mountains of TN and GA for sure! It does not make something from nothing, but I do get the difference. I think it is worth it.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor Thanks Mark, that helps a great deal, i feel like I can make a decision on it now and l’ll give you my feedback once I try it out. Thanks for all the advice and feedback and keep the awesome videos coming my friend, hopefully one day we’ll get together for a trail ride so until then keep Traversing!!!
Excellent video! What socket wrench did you use?
Thanks for watching!!! Glad you liked it. I can remember the socket sizes off hand, and I have since sold this rig, so I can’t go out and check for you.
What roof rack do you have if you don’t mind me asking? Thanks
It is the TrailRax TRMR with PaxRax option trailrax.com/collections/ford-bronco/products/trailrax-modular-roof-rack-for-the-ford-bronco-4-door
What was the total time it took to get from one end to the other?
Less than three hours for the trail itself. Depends on how much you stop and a larger group could hold things up a bit. If you go up to Max Patch, then that adds 30-60 minutes and then you would have to add hiking time.
I guessed I missed the invite.
We were there for coordinates and coffee. It was a meetup that was posted in the Florida Adventure Trail FB group. I also shared it on IG and my FB page 😀😀😀
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor oh I am part of that group just just have missed it. Thanks
Is there anything else to do there? Like trails to hike or ride bikes? I found this place on hicamp looking for a place to tent camp
We drove up the mountain to where we camped. The trail to get there was part of an old OHV park. There were more trails up the mountain that I hiked up. You could probably take mountain bikes all around there and explore. It was a nice place to camp on our way up to LBL.
Go get 'em!
Thanks!!!!
How wide is the Bronco?
Just a little over 7’ wide (85.7”)
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor This is priceless information my friend, my son wants to take his yj with me to do hurricane creek and it’s had some major work done for off-road purposes and knowing the width of what we have to work with before going is very important. You have been a great deal of help for us both and we appreciate it so much, thanks again my friend and keep the great videos coming!!! 👍😁
@@StandAloneAdventuresa YJ will have absolutely no problems. I've done hurricane creek twice myself and I'm in a JLU (moderately modified). A YJ is quite a bit narrower than a JL so unless you have super wide axles, you're fine.
Hope you have fun 👍
Thanks! It was awesome. Had a great time with the group.
What trails did you hit. Hopefully you did a TH-cam video.
We got a bunch! I somehow got thrown into leading the trail ride, which was unplanned, so I didn’t film like I normally do.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor oh okay. I am looking to go hit some but there are several. Thanks for the reply.
It is huge!!! So many trails. You could go so many times and barely scratch surface. Keep in mind that some trails are tight and scratchy!
Looking good bossman!
Thanks so much!!! Had a great time.
After doing Hurricane creek in my stock 2001 Mitsubishi Monteroa month ago with out getting stuck, this bronco should eat this up like baby food.
Thanks for watching! It sure did and we had a ton of fun!!!!
Amazing! Think a rear wheel drive tundra could do that trip?
Yes. I don’t think you will have much trouble. Most of the Georgia Traverse is pretty well maintained gravel roads. It is just a fun and enjoyable trip with great camp spots.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor perfect, thanks again!
Good to see a Bronco Raptor out there.
Thanks!!! We want to make sure we use the heck out of it!!! So much fun!
Good call on wrapping fenders. It ties the whole profile of the vehicle together. Looks badass!
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching! Totally agree, ties it all together (and offers a little protection 😀)
Do you think a power wagon will fit down the trail. We will be in the area in a few weeks. Putting 37s on it Friday
I have seen others that size make it through. Have a spotter with you or another rig, because there are a couple of spots where another set of eyes are pretty crucial. Have a great time!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice video. Good mix of commentary and trail scenery. Exactly what I was looking for as I'm putting together a full list of places to check out on my route when we head down in a couple of weeks. Thanks for spending the time to put it together. Cheers!
I appreciate you watching the video and leaving a comment/feedback. We have so much fun out there, and we want to share, so that others can experience the cool places we have gone!! Have fun on your trip and enjoy!!
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor Absolutely. We have to support fellow creators that are doing good work for the community!
Awesome trip
Thanks, it sure was fun!!!
I always LOL at videos like this. You're rolling a $100k+ (with option) Bronco that my old fully built Jeep TJ would decimate on the trails and rocks. And I have less coin in my 2015 Ford F250, trailer and TJ than you have in this thing.
But I use it in a way that makes it fun and worth it. This rig spends a lot of time off-road and camping. Better than being a pavement process or mall crawler that some owners of a rig like this are. 😀😀😀😀
Mile marker 8 i40 westbound NC Have fun!
We sure did!!!! This is a great trails with great campsites.
I really love that spot where you come in to Max patch
BS
Hurricane Creek is a great trail!! It is quite unique to enter it right off I-40 directly and not from a real exit.
I can't find "Popcorn Creek Trail" on my map. I can find "Popcorn Creek Road". According to my map FS163 is "Turkey gap Road". Can you give me more detailed directions?
It is FS 163. Yes, it is by Turkey Gap, but GAIA GPS labels it as Popcorn Creek Trail. 34.89261, -83.58796 is entry of 76
I've camped at every area in this vid. The spot by the river is awesome !!! At 6:45 ... that hill is nothing a 4x4 cant handle. There's a beautiful camp spot at the top, with a fife pit. But I wouldn't recommend solo camping up there. Paranormal scared is something different ... There's weird stories about camping on Tray .... and especially that spot. I WON"T do it again ....
Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the comment! We enjoy North Georgia so much, and being down here in Florida, we wish we could get up there more. Thanks for the tribal knowledge on Tray. That is sounding a little ominous to me. I am glad that’s didn’t stay up there alone!!!
👏👏
Thanks!!!
Definitely my next trip, looking good my friend!!!
You will enjoy it for sure. Hope you plan on camping too. Some cool spots.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor I’m going to camp for sure and will more than likely go during the middle of the week so I can get a good spot by the stream.
Awesome!!!!
Solid
Thanks! It is a great place to explore and a cool area to camp.
@@FiveAngelsOutdoor I need to come out there as soon as I get my bronco set up. Still trying to pick out a roof top tent
Sounds great!!! I have camped there with ground tent fine as well.
Wealthy folks and their expensive play. toys. I plan on trying to do hurricane creek when I trade in my Colorado trail boss on a Colorado zr2.
It ia insane that folks pay close to 100 to 110k for a a vehicle so they can take it off roading on trails like hurricane creek.
The last time I did this trail in September 2022 I did it in my Chevy Colorado ZR2 AEV Bison. It was fun back then, but the trail has changed a bit. The point of buying the rig is using it!!! 😀 No point of having one to use as pavement process or mall crawler.
