Two things, headlamps are incorrect they are facelift ‘94 and up. Also the 400E badge is on wrong. Love the build though

did you have to purchase anything extra from AVIN to enable the CarPlay functionality? Or did you purchase a wireless CarPlay adapter and plug n play? Thanks

991.2 has different engine block and no risk to bore score
@@peterwindsor9466 I’ve never heard of bore scoring being an issue with 991.1. Do you have a source on this?

I really think it would behoove the customer as well as you doing the recaro's and wheel inside. you've obviously got good taste and know that a few hammers didn't have CSE'S but that to me is the one thing that I couldnt do with out. I see cars that are nicely built but they didn't order or do the tribute and use recaros or the proper AMG steering wheel. yes will be doing justice to this and that says you're a fan and respect the legend the hammer is. if you could source a Nakamichi stereo similar to the option that you could get at the time would be awesome too. people might not understand but I can be ok without even the v8 much less a real m117 and DEFINATELY not a quad cam. that's what the hammer was about. those motors where good in stock form but the dohc's were a nightmare so a tribute should have what ever came in the car you start with or a period correct v8. late model swaps wouldn't belong in this they should go in a restomod style hammer-esqe build. Ive seen and it was also something that AMG did was to use Mosselman turbo systems if you want to have more power or if the customer wants more power. I think you've got a great plan and cant wait to watch the progress and end result. thank you for building something so worthy of doing not like a lot of other shops. the only thing I like more than a hammer or premerger cars are RUF cars. I think a rgt-8 tribute should be your next project. cheers

@@nineelevensouth well I thank you for being a true fan and respecting the car for what it is. this is the O.G. this gave rise to our Uber sedans m5, e63 cts-v is-f guila etc. they are getting more known but when this was developed nobody had ever thought of doing something this crazy. cant wait to see it!!
please please do a proper hammer tribute a w124 not a c124 an s124 is the coolest but most people who still have the magazines that they were subscribed to with all the hammer article from '86 on up. technically the hammer is only the 4 door. they didn't have c124 when Harmut was making the very small amount of real hammers. the ethos being the largest v8 into a small to mid-size sedan, a dentist car if you will. I should have finished the video before I started typing, I'm so excited for this. I've been commenting to the biggest shops that someone needs to do a singer style premerger builders shop. sounds epic!!!

3 years have passed (And I haven't) and my 17 991.2 GTS, now with 28,000 miles, is better than ever. I drive in the Sport mode....love ht crackles and pops upon deceleration. This is Porsche #8 for me over 3-+ years. If I were to have to purchase a car, I would get a 991.2 Base, Carrera S or GTS....drive one, you'll buy one! But not mine: It's not for sale!

That looked like an awesome trip! I’m guessing that your 991 was in 2nd or 3rd gear most of the time on those roads, especially the Tail? How was acceleration out of the slow corners?
Yep. Lots of time in those gears. Acceleration was very good. Controlled and linear. That said, a turbo engine would defiantly provide more torque out of the corners, but you trade the sound and the more linear feel overall. I drove a 992 Carrera S on the same roads for 3 days the following year and was blown away with how "torquey" it was coming out of corners and down the road to the next corner.
@ oh yeah, I have a stage 1 tune Golf R, and it’s a rocket from 2500rpm when the boost kicks in. I want PDK, so I’ll have to drive the 997.2, 991.1, and 991.2 when the time comes for me to look a buying a 911 and see what I like best within my budget. They’re all 911’s so can’t go wrong 💪

So your 991.1S has roughly 420bhp with the tune, and a very responsive throttle and transmission. Do you find that it has sufficient power for both everyday driving and canyon carving in the mountains? Seems like the gearing is a bit long, especially 1-2-3.
Oh absolutely. I always tell people that 400HP is about the most that enthusiast drivers will ever make proper use of in the mountains. Anything beyond that is just a flex IMO.

Thanks for the info. When looking at its cost, would it be more efficient to just go with new bc coilovers?
Cost will be about the same or potentially more with coilover install. The upside to DSC is the constant, on the fly realtime adjustment that is happening. So, it makes the slow bumps less bumpy but can also stiffen under load and aggressive driving. With BC coilovers, you can only adjust them outside of the vehicle with tools and then you have to run that setup on your entire drive despite a variety of potential road and speed conditions. Generally you will have a most harsh ride with coilovers.
Can’t beat a 991.2 with rear wheel Steering and ceramics… Sound is awesome with the burbles/ pops and crackles and turbos spooling up just add to the drama. Anything after 2019 seems to have been strangled .

@ Were there any screws or tabs that need to be removed or bent prior to removal, or does it just pull out? I can’t seem to find anything online about that aspect of the removal and I don’t want to damage the inner dash. Thanks again

Hey just started following you enjoying your build on the 997 I have a 997.2 turbo I'm going up to suches or the gauntlet new years any other good roads to check out ?...coming from Miami But this time I'm driving my daily 535i. Stage 2 nothing crazy but comfortable for the ride up
