The reason we wear several layers of clothes is that when we get inside we can remove a layer or two, if we don't we don't remove some clothes will start to sweat, if we then go out again wearing clothes that's sweaty we will soon start to freeze, we have to keep the clothes dry at all time.
    Greetings from Denmark

Denmark used to have a LOT of snow during november, december, january, february all the way to april sometimes. It has been like that ALWAYS. But because of climate change, that has changed during the last 15 or so years, and now because of warmer weather, the snow falls like rain instead.. Very sad :(

"Denmark used to have a LOT of snow during november, december, january, february all the way to april sometimes." No, that's not true. We used to have more snow than now, but not a LOT. We have lost about a week worth of snow since the 1950s. That's around a forth of the snowfall in 70 years.

@@KurtFrederiksen It most certainly is true. Compared to now we used to have a lot of snow. Obviously not Norway/finland/sweden standards, but long periods of snow and with great volumes of it.

@@martinwinther6013 Yes, that sounds about right according to the Danish statistical institute.
In reality a little less as wages have risen too for most people.
Personally I have only spend around 2% more on food this year than last year, but I'll trust the statistics on this.

@@kokoromind3282 No, we didn't use to have a lot of snow, that's mostly a myth. We did have a few very severe winters with huge amounts of snow closing the country down for days, but that was the exception.
      The ice-winters for the last 100 years were: 1995-96, 1986-87, 1985-86, 1984-85, 1981-82, 1978-79, 1969-70, 1962-63, 1955-56, 1946-47, 1941-42, 1940-41, 1939-40, 1928-29, 1923-24. That's 15 times over a 100 years! Sure we had snowy conditions beyond this, but it wasn't as common as people think.
Some parts of Denmark have more snow than others, but usually only for a few days and usually only a few millimeters. Western part of Jutland do have more snow than Zealand due to geography as Zealand is 'hidden' behind the Scandinavian mountains.
The main problem here is that a lot of people haven't experience a ice-winter and those who have are old like me having childhood memories of playing in snow. But those childhood memories were only from a few childhood years. I can remember 4 such winters, but that was out of 12 childhood winters. The rest were just a few days of snow and cold days of biking to school in close to zero degree rain. It's mostly your memory playing tricks with you and the stories of others affirming those false memories.

Good luck with trying every Christmas beer in Denmark. There are some 400 different Christmas beers brewed in Denmark.
We even have a newish tradition around Christmas beer call J-dag (J-day). The weekend around 1. November Denmark's largest brewery releases their Christmas beer 'Tuborg Julebryg' (Tuborg Christmas brew) with happenings in bars and clubs around the country.

So nice to see your reactions, I'm glad you liked the look. After visiting Brazil, I think you'd really like the Christmas "lunch" (it's a meal that is often eaten in the evening). There is far more to it than he mentions, and my impression is that you also like a meal with many courses of different fishes and meats, and a bit of vegetables and sweets.

even smaller towns have their own christmas light on their main shopping streets. a nice way to combat winter fatigue.

the tradition of mulled wine goes back to the medival age, when both sugar and spices were very exphensive. heating the wine will evaporate some of the alcohol, meaning you will need more wine to get in the same mood.

These days most of the Ice rinks are made out of plastic slabs (since its cheaper and to some extent more environment friendly (think of the electric bill required to chill the ice vs just laying out a lot of interlocking plastic slabs)).

you either hang your jacket on you chair, or if it is a fancy place, hand it over to the staffed wardrobe. you will then be given a token, which you hand in, when you are leaving, making shure you get the right jacket back.

Winter boots need to be one size too big. You HAVE to be able to wriggle your toes with two pairs of sock 😊
There's around 200 different Christmas beers - and most of them stronger than normal beer. You need to go into to rehab if you try them all 🥴🥴

Be careful with the beer. Especially the Christmas brew can get to 10% of alcohol and it tastes good.

The Tivoli Xmas market is one of the most commercialised settings you can ever imagine. Its a closed of area, its an amusementpark where you have to pay entrance just to get in to be allowed to spend.
Theres nothing in there this time of year. Other than this hyperexpensive market where you cn buy burned almonds for 5$ for a small handfull.
Plz dont ever go there, its some romatized BS that very few locals actually enjoy.
Yea, some go there because the lights etc are nice. but a lot of locals have seasoncard so they dont pay to get in

Well it does get cold enough for snow its just that the pressure systems doesnt allow so expect ice cold rain that would have been snow if it was further inland. They ask for reservations because they are very busy if you show up when no one is there obviously they let you dine. Just to add to your information Christmas of European origin it mixes old pagan tradition with Christianity and the Nordics held on to their pagan ways the longest, which is why we have nisser and yule goats and other pagan stuff mixed in, if you are curious there is a bunch of video on the History of Christmas videos on youtube

Its fair enough that he wants to wear that many layers.. he is american and not born in this climate.. but many danes are fine with just a pair of jeans a tshirt or button shirt and a nice winter jacket (+scarf ofcourse) in winter even when it sometimes hit -20c which now adays is quite rare.. its not even uncommon to see some danes out and about in just a tshirt and shorts in the middle of a snowstorm if they just have to do something quick outside
