Agreed. I feel like a lot of people are sleeping on the Living Failures music. Of course, for us who played it made a bigger impact as the music kicked in just as they lifted their hands up towards the sky (space?) and meteors came crashing down. Definitely one of my favourite moments playing Bloodborne.
"Ah, you were at my side all along! My true mentor... my guiding moonlight." Ludwig the Holy Blade is From's best piece of music, hard stop. Even in a vacuum, nothing they've made before or after is as good, but this is doubly reinforced by the fight against him. What was once a great man has been reduced to not merely a beast, but the most beastial creature of all, no longer even remotely human... until he grasps the hilt of his sword once again, stands up straight, and turns what was a desperate brawl in a pool of filth into a deadly duel between warriors. Crescent waves and erupting fountains of moonlight are thrown at you constantly as the choir sings about the nobility of Ludwig, a man so great he shared a title with his weapon: the Holy Blade.
As much as I love the Ludwig ost, imo, slave knight Gael’s ost is just one up this one. But Gael would not be around if it weren’t for Ludwig as I see inspiration from Ludwig in Gael. A beastly nature at the start of the fight and then gaining what’s left of their humanity for the rest of the fight. These two are my top. But that’s just me.
We've also got red juice that either makes you hungry for sneakers or hunt the ones hungry for sneakers Negligible chance of seeing cosmic horrors beyond comprehension with enough K N O W L E D G E
Bloodborne is absolutely one of my favourite OST's to have ever been made, and out of that OST, Ludwig The Accursed & Holy Blade are the two pieces that grip me the most. The way it starts with a foreboding, stalking sensation driven by the strings, dragging out just a tad too long to where you start to wonder what is going on and then descends into this demented and unyielding waltz of death with a being you cannot hope to comprehend nor defeat never fails to give me goosebumps. Absolutely stellar reaction, it's easy to tell that you REALLY get into the music and feel every little bit of it.
Always love your reactions. I've had enough of people reacting with barely a crack of a smile or just a "wow" but your love for music and your amazement is so refreshing! Keep up the good work ♥
I’ll echo this☝️ There are some reaction channels out there (albeit film or music) where I can’t grasp how they came to have 10s of thousands of subs because they sit there expressionless, not emoting outwardly at all over powerful things. Emily however does a great job letting her reaction actually show.
@@yohef4537Because sometimes people watch those reactions for things more than just their shallow reactions. Critiques, breakdowns of the music, instruments and vocals. Some even go as far as to show them to professional musicians to see how they react to video games music. Tell me, from watching her, have you learned anything about these songs besides that she likes them?
@@firekeeperiswaifu3092 You do have a point, and I will agree that watching things for breakdowns as well as reactions is something I do often. However, Emily is a different case because I can enjoy the music just like she is and bask in the joyful environment she creates. Sometimes I don’t need a breakdown, but an emotional reaction. ❤
@@indebt098 True that. I am sorry for my unnecessarily aggressive response. Was in bad mood and inadvertently took it out on you for no reason. I also like Emily’s reaction.
I really liked the way she described some things. Like the “march” at the bass end of the piano; i can’t think of a better way to describe it! Also i want someone to comment on the screechy violins way back left of the mix on the accursed blade part… they’re hidden so well but add so much I haven’t seen them mentioned. I need to watch more reactions i guess!
It's someone's reupload after TH-cam purged the raw tracks. It seems like they recorded it in game and forget to turn sound effects off; so you're getting the whooshing of the fire effects. Also why it loops. You have to do some digging to still find the raw tracks and the set with this is the first playlist that comes up. Same with Lady Maria's track the alien sounding choir section is missing.
Laurence, Ludwig and Living Failure's themes are the most awe inspiring songs I've heard in gaming, the way they switch from dissonance into pure beauty is just chills
I really hope you do more From Software osts. Would highly recommend “Great Grey Wolf Sif” and “Gwyn, Lord of Cinder” from Dark Souls 1, “Dark Souls 3”, “Firelink Shrine”, “Soul of Cinder”, and “Slave Knight Gale” from Dark Souls 3, and “Elden Ring”, “Godfrey, First Elden Lord”, and “Malenia, Blade of Miquella” from Elden Ring. All are absolutely fantastic songs.
Happy you gave one of the best OST's in gaming history a chance, you should do a part 2 of listening to Bloodborne music, I think theres alot of great tracks that are underappreciated, like The Living Failures or Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos
I will always love "Gehrman The First Hunter" because in the game it is in a really intense fight where for once you aren't fighting out of malice or to destroy your opponent but rather you are competing with one another for the right to suffer in the other's place because ironically whoever loses is given the right to live and be spared while the winner takes their place your prize for victory is eternal suffering without hope for salvation a fate worse than death but at least you can suffer knowing you spared the other.
"This is terrifying." Welcome to Yharnam, good Hunter. ;) And remember, fear the old blood. If you do a second one, I recommend Cleric Beast, Terror, Mergo's Lullaby, and Moon Presence.
Its a shame that she got a version of laurence with terrible fight sound effects, that is also terribly looped. Im sorry, but the beauty of the original pure track was pretty much ruined by that. The song is paced perfectly, and the looping just completley removed that element. Sorry, its just sad to hear one of my favorite songs ever to be ripped apart like that.
0:09 “Yharnam is the home of blood ministration. You need only unravel its mystery." 3:39 “Dear oh dear, what was it? The Hunt? The Blood? Or the horrible Dream? Oh, it doesn't matter . . . Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt . . . “ 8:55 "The blood makes us human, makes us more than human, makes us human no more.” 16:13 "A corpse, should be left well alone. Oh, I know very well how the secrets beckon so sweetly. Only an honest death will cure you now. Liberate you from your wild curiosity." 20:24 Ahh, ahh, please... help us... Ah... An unsightly beast... A great terror looms! Ahh... Ludwig the Accursed is coming. Have mercy... Have mercy upon us..." 23:32 “Aah, you were at my side, all along. My true mentor... So, a bit of context from the resident lore nut. Gehrman: The First Hunter. Being the first, he instructed other Old Hunters of the beasts that plagued Yharnam. He also partook in the "study" of the transformed inhabitants of a fishing hamlet, and the burning of Old Yharnam. Despite his services, his hunter's workshop was ultimately replaced by the Healing Church. As the years went by, his friends left or died, and he eventually found himself wracked with guilt, and completely alone save for a doll modeled after a student he was especially fond of, Lady Maria, to keep him company. So, he made a deal with one of the Great Ones: It would bring his Doll companion to life, and he would watch over the Great One's dream realm, the Hunter's Dream. He cannot leave his post unless another takes it upon themselves by force, a fate he will not allow another to suffer. Laurence: Founder of the Healing Church. Partaking in the healing blood, he became the first cleric beast. Giant like no other cleric beast, he is now perpetually wrapped in flame, which any good Hunter will tell you beasts hate and fear. Lady Maria: One of Gehrman's students. When the guilt of what they had done became too much, she cast aside her beloved weapon, and presumably un-alived herself. She now resides within the Hunter's Nightmare, a monument to her own sins in the most literal sense possible, along with Laurence and Ludwig. Ludwig: First Hunter of the Church's workshop, and a cleric of the Healing Church. Used the healing blood both for religion and to survive the Hunt. Such liberal use created the most horrifying beast of all, turning into a horse-like horror instead of the usual wolf. Now, the only thing that could return his humanity is his guiding moonlight...

Bloodborne basically starts out like you've entered the tragic ending of some grand gothic play. But it just gets worse and worse and more horrific the longer you play. (That's why I love it)
Bloodborne is a descent and ascent into madness it’s both horrifying and beautiful, there is no good or evil in bloodborne only those who want to stay alive,to truly live, reach glory or to transcend because bloodborne at its core is something eldritch and primal,I think that the music captures that perfectly
Ah welcome Traveller to the glorious rabbit hole known as Souls OST we hope you enjoy your stay and do watch your step for once you go in... there is no getting out
The sounds are the combat noises from the boss encounter. Lawrence is in the in game lore a cleric beast. Which are these giant birds, horse, dog human hybrid things (humans turn into them through the in game blood magic). And he is on fire and jumping and rolling towards you. So the sounds of the noises as he’s rolling past you. The recording seems to have been from in the game as opposed to the raw music file. Certain elements repeated multiple times in the version you listen to which normally only occur once in the actual OST. Still a phenomenal song… the song is used in the World of Warcraft meme video Patrick the Ashbringer too haha. I think it’s in the second video in that meme.
Would love to see more Bloodborne reactions in the future. Truly one of FromSoft's best in every regard. Ludwig the Holy Blade is probably my single most favorite piece of video game music of all time! Talk about a piece that feels like a dance between two dueling hunters giving it their all
I just finished this game; about eight years since I bought it in 2016. I never managed to get into it until about two week ago. After that I was pretty much glued to my PS5. 😂 The plot and music would work really well as some sort of epic opera.

Hypogean Jail
celestial emisary is pretty forgoten too
"Ah, you were at my side all along! My true mentor... my guiding moonlight."
Ludwig the Holy Blade is From's best piece of music, hard stop.
This recanting of his fight gave me goosebumps man. Well written comment.
She was like "What is happening?". And i was like: I'm fighting the most terrifying and hideous creatures of all! kkkkk
I'd say ludwig was the most hideously terrifying of them all
Welcome to Bloodborne Emi. We have snacks and cake. The snacks will attack you and the cake is a lie
Lmaooo
We've also got red juice that either makes you hungry for sneakers or hunt the ones hungry for sneakers
Negligible chance of seeing cosmic horrors beyond comprehension with enough K N O W L E D G E
Mmm. Tasty umbilical cords.
Very good joke THX for the laugh..lady maria cake tho....
Is that a Portal reference?!?
Your TH-cam profile picture is the exact same as my Discord one. I just had to say that.
Always love your reactions. I've had enough of people reacting with barely a crack of a smile or just a "wow" but your love for music and your amazement is so refreshing! Keep up the good work ♥
I’ll echo this☝️
There are some reaction channels out there (albeit film or music) where I can’t grasp how they came to have 10s of thousands of subs because they sit there expressionless, not emoting outwardly at all over powerful things.
Whoever added those sounds to the laurence track... Why would you do that :/
It's someone's reupload after TH-cam purged the raw tracks.
Yeah it was brutal to listen to. Really ruined the track.
@@kaathesacolyte2943 wait what? But the tracks by shirrako are still up from 8 years ago, did she listen to some faulty playlist then?
@@Gozieaaa there are many uploads for each track so she prolly just picked the wrong source for laurence
Laurence, Ludwig and Living Failure's themes are the most awe inspiring songs I've heard in gaming, the way they switch from dissonance into pure beauty is just chills
The fact that Living Failures have such an amazing thing is so antithetical to their name.
There is an Orchestra of Gehrman The First Hunter that was performed at Royal Albert Hall!
The fire sounds aren't normally in the Laurence OST, seems like you're listening to an edited version.
Bloodborne has absolutely amazing music! Ludwig the accursed blade is my favorite song in the ost!
The transition into Holy Blade is bone chilling
"This is terrifying." Welcome to Yharnam, good Hunter. ;)
And remember, fear the old blood.
Lady Maria's theme has been lurking in my head for several days now, thank you for opportunity to listen to it along with you :D
“purpose behind this” is fromsoft creed in everything.
it all has meaning.
I can only imagine right now how she'll react to Dark Souls 3. I bet the Main Menu alone would just blow her mind!
16:44 You are indeed running from something...
Lady Maria does not like being, disturbed.
Thanks for taking my suggestions!
You should also listen to the "Hail the Nightmare" piece, really spooky
I would love to see you do more from this soundtrack, Mergo’s Wet Nurse theme is my favorite of the whole soundtrack!
0:09
“Yharnam is the home of blood ministration. You need only unravel its mystery."
3:39
“Dear oh dear, what was it? The Hunt? The Blood? Or the horrible Dream? Oh, it doesn't matter . . . It always comes down to the hunters' helper to clean up after these sort of messes. Tonight, Gehrman joins the hunt . . . “
8:55
"The blood makes us human, makes us more than human, makes us human no more.”
16:13
"A corpse, should be left well alone. Oh, I know very well how the secrets beckon so sweetly. Only an honest death will cure you now. Liberate you from your wild curiosity."
20:24
Ahh, ahh, please... help us... Ah... An unsightly beast... A great terror looms! Ahh... Ludwig the Accursed is coming. Have mercy... Have mercy upon us..."
23:32
“Aah, you were at my side, all along. My true mentor... My guiding moonlight..."
7:20 her reaction is amazing
What's the constant whooshing in the Laurence track? That's not in the OST??
The original track doesn't have them, she heard an edited track
Fire
Yeah, I absolutely hate whoever did that. At points it was just spamming the auido. Didn't even sound natural or respect the flow of the music... If I ever find out whoever made that edit i'm farting in their general direction.
They could at least add the screeches just for the aesthetic along the loud whooshing flames.
The boss is on fire and each attack sends a rush of flame, when you get it to half health, its lower half pops and lava pours out of its bisected body
Ludwig, the Holy Blade is basically a mad waltz, which is exactly what fighting him feels like once you got the fight down.
I like how you were "I'd never check games like this out." And literally 30 seconds in you make this face of realization, the "oh... i fucked up"
You reaaally need to do a part 2 for this ost. You missed a lot of AMAZING tracks that you need to check out. Like "Cleric Beast" and the overworld themes of every zone.
Great video!!!
Even just the score for the Hunter's Dream is jaw-dropping. Every time I start a fresh playthrough, that arrival gets me.
@@Nitrinoxus Truee. And when you get to Yahar-ghul the first time and you hear that music... I had freaking goosebumps
@@danforce2409 Yeah, if Emily thought Laurence's theme sounded evil, the Unseen Village would _terrify_ her... which is part of why I want to see her listen to it.
"Does not give you a moment to breath" Exactly. Lady Maria won't allow it
Everyone gangsta until Gehrman, The First Hunter starts playing...
Fun fact: this is the only fromsoft soulsborne that has its lyrics in latin, except for that one ost in Elden ring, all the other soulsborne have lyrics that are generated
Godskin apostles are also generated, there's no real Latin there
@@fumeknightofshovelry3901i think he is talking avaout the gaint batwoman that sing about how their land was destroy and cant go back and ask to the erdtree to whom is he angry
And sorry for my bad English
20:20 the part you all are here for. Just leaving this here.
I think the Gerhman track is one of the songs that most effectively communicates pain, agony, and futility that i've ever heard. I always get goosebumps when I hear it. I hope you check out the Elden ring/shadow of the erdtree OST too
"We are born of the blood, made men by the blood, undone by the blood; Fear the old blood."
Yes!!
One of the best game OST’s in my opinion
The Lady Maria fight is slow walk with really fast attacks like ____/\___/\__ while the music overlays this same ideas on top of eachother, absolute masterwork of media.
Bloodborne, one of the greatest video games ever made! And the music is some of the best music in the industry. A true piece of art. A masterpiece.
Bloodborne was my introduction to fromsoft , and this game blew every expectation I could have for a video game. Raised the bar SO high
Ludwid the Holy Blade is objectively the epitome of "Dark and Imperial".
didnt knew i was shouted out in this Video until i started watching your older videos bc of boredom lol, huge thanks
so glad you loved it! the music's phenomenal, and so so impactful considering you really only get it when fighting a boss. great choices to start off, would recommend checking out some of the other music too!
Ah yes... my favorite FromSoft Game ever. BB is such a masterpiece!
This was such a great reaction to an amazing OST. Thank you!
Even after all this time, the music still gives me chills😸
Also, this is the first video of yours I've seen, and I'd like to see you react to the OSTs of Nioh 1 and 2
It's the best orchestra ever made ❤
From Britain with love❤
The blood make us human make us more than human make us human no more
Everyone (gamer/musician or not) should watch "Bloodborne - Suite (Live with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra)"
Mermaid man: EVIIIIILLL!
i cant help but get a little emotional during Ludwig the accursed & holy blade
Whelp, welcome to another gaming OST rabbit hole because everyone is gonna want you to react to soulsbourne games OSTs now and I for one cannot wait, genuinely all the games from Fromsoft have in my opinion thr best soundtracks off all time, not to mention being some of the most fun and well designed games ever made, good luck
I play this game every September. It's a good way to bring in spooky season.
I dont think any soundtrack has ever hit as hard as Ludwig the accursed and holy blade has!! Not to mention what is happening during the boss fight at phase 2,,,its just way to epic. You were by my side all along my guiding moonlight blade!!!!!!!!!!
Nobody else says it but I will again the music from lies of P is super worthwhile checking out at some point especially the vinyl songs. Feel, Quixotic, and memory of beach are some of my favorites
Another one of my fav. games of all time
I listen to this to sleep every night. Hoping to end up in the same dream for no reason.
I reeeaaaaaalllly hope Laurence the First Vicar is featured here!! The climax and buildup is sooo beautiful
Task successfully failed
Ludwig's theme lives and dies by it's explosive climax in the 2nd phase
In "Laurence, The first Vícar", the audio is modified....is not the original soundtrack....those effects where added...and also thats why it sounds sometimes like cut parts
Fighting a boss at the same time...😇😇😇 adrenalin through the roof🤯🤯🤯.... I see every pixel 😶🌫😶🌫😶🌫
Guess I have to replay. It's been a while. Amazing music. Cello makes me melt.
Same, love this game
Father Gascoine - "The Hunter" is the best Bloodborne OST for me
sadly ost with sfx from game, still solid 10/10
This is a masterpiece of world music. The best soundtracks I’ve ever heard.
20:23 is the moment you're looking for.
Talk about a piece that feels like a dance between two dueling hunters giving it their all
Ludwig the Holy Blade switches from a near cacophony to the very measured movements of a true waltz. It's such a marked difference.
Ludwig the Accured “Ooo the piano! It sounds like something’s coming for you.”
Oh something is coming for you.😬
I just finished this game; about eight years since I bought it in 2016. I never managed to get into it until about two week ago. After that I was pretty much glued to my PS5. 😂 The plot and music would work really well as some sort of epic opera.
I truly consider Bloodborne to be one of the top FIVE games of all time. It reveals its story perfectly by using the world design and gameplay.
"This manifestation of madness comes from a mind teetering on the very brink, but has a sane mind ever produced anything of true significance?"
- Frenzied Coldblood Item Description
By the gods Laurence, fear it.
“Free fall into the depths of hell!” I mean this fight does take place in what is essentially the Hunter’s equivalent of Hell.
Here is a direct translation of Gherman, The first hunter
Instance 1:
Latin lyrics:
Ah mi supra venata

Venare insidiosus
Mira tenebrarum
Hic sic scitis miserere aeterna (or "miseriae aeterna")
English translation:

Ah, I have hunted.
I did it all to cleanse my soul from evil.
An insidious hunt.
The wonderful darkness (or "These mysterious nights")
This way I knew eternal mercy (or "eternal misery").

Latin lyrics:
Venator
Ah mi sumo vela mala
Anima do res mihi somne restas
Luna insidiosa
Mira tenebrarum
Di vises mi miserere aeterna (or "miseriae aeterna")
English translation:
My Hunter
Let the evil be hidden (from you)
My life devoted to sustaining the Dream
The insidious Moon
The wonderful darkness (or "These mysterious nights")
Great One, look upon me and grant eternal mercy (or "Great One has looked upon me and grant this eternal misery").
Instance 3:
Latin
Venator
A mi sumo vena mala
Anima doles mihi solve recta
Luna insidiosa
Mira tenebrarum
Di vises mi miserere aeterna (or "miseriae aeterna")
English translation:
Hunter
Take my sickly vein
My soul hurts, free me, rightly
The insidious Moon
The wonderful darkness (or "These mysterious nights")
Great One, look upon me and grant eternal mercy (or "Great One has looked upon me and grant this eternal misery").
Instance 4:
Latin lyrics:
Venātor abyssum venārator
Tū nōlī at esse supplētūrum
Supprēmum sic falcem quatiam semel modo
Mē parti si finem praebētō
English translation:
Hunter, who hold in awe the abyss
But you are never supposed to be a scapegoat
I would swing this scythe once again, to offer an end to your nightmare
But please, give me an end to my role.
The music is a reflection of the game itself. Honestly you get a glimpse of hell in this game.
