As a beginner what I do if they are too thick, I wear them a few days, study them to see where/what I can do better and take some bulk down and repaint. Wear that a few days and improve on that if needed. I have all kinds of glitter/art stuff, but until I can improve on application, I play around with just color as it is easier to take down and re-do.

to help with the monomer when the glitter gets stuck, you could try putting a cotton ball in there so it catches the glitter and you can wipe off the brush

Thickness is my greatest struggle.... I see everyone's nails are so thin I often worry my nails won't last if I go thinner than what I do
