I'm still tanking with my 2217 classic because it's better than anything before or since. By the way, Thomas- you were right about keeping spare impellers on hand. Even mighty Eheim filters need new impellers every once in a while. Cheers!
I purchased one (4+ 600) and it has been running. I didn't like the out flow tube and replaced with penn plax in order more directional control. It works great keeps my 90 gals crystal clear/clean.
I have an old Professional 1 I bought used on my 70 liter. I had to replace the main seal, other than that it's worked like a charm. On my 300 liter I have a Fluval FX4, though (which is also great if you rearrange the media a little and add some extra.).
make more videos which focus on specific fish types and how to care for them, whether they're for beginners or not. And other tips/tricks for aquarium maintenance. And please make sure Thomas makes all the videos, the others are really boring
I notice that on the classic series, the intake is at the very bottom of the canister, and the out tube is at the top. This makes sense, because you want your water to enter at the bottom, go up through all of the filter media, and then exit at the top. This new filter looks like it has the water come in at the top and also exit at the top. Does the water actually go through all the media? Or was the old design better.
Hi Thomas, are Canister filters only good for fresh water tanks? or could be also used for saltwater? And if yes for saltwater, what advantage do they have over a regular media/carbon/GFO reactor? Thanks
I have an eheim 4 + filter, but after a few months, the flow adjustment goes empty and the red button can not push it, is it blocked? What can I do? Can I fix it myself? It's under warranty, but if I send it back it will be left without an aquarium filter! Can you help me with some advice?
How do you know the extender is set up correctly? It just seems to rotate internally and it looks like you can set it up back to front and so when you think you are not using the extender you in actuality are doing.
Hello!!! Excellent video :) I have 1 question!! if i purchase the proper enheim filter and 1 thermometer for my aquarium shall i need any other equipment ie (equipment for oxygen) for the normal functioning of my aquarium?
Hi thomas nice video ive a question which side should i put am eheim liberty 200 canister filter in addition to my pro4. 250 the intake or outake side ¿ thank you
Yes, the lever can be used to reduce the flow and increase the flow. The unit has been made specifically to allow the user to increase or reduce the flow.
Hello! So I just bought a professionel 4+ 600 for my Juwel rio 300 but watching this video it kind of seems that the tube that's included are way to short if you want to have the in and out on different sides of the aquarium. Am I mistaken or do I need to get an extra tube?
Hi there Thanks for your vedio please help me ,I bought eheim pro 3 xl 1200 ,which has 2 inlet and 2 out let please tell me how can I set the inlet and out let on the aquarium I mean positioning of hoses ? Because what I like to have 1 in let in each side of my aquarium and have the out let running from one side with out spray bar, but in pro 3 the out let is in the middle so pls show me how to do it. Thanks
I want the spray bar going the length of the aquarium not the width. How is that accomplished? 46 gallon bow front aquarium, looks like spray bar is too long.
Hey is any part of the filter carbon? I was told to remove carbon from my filter before treating with general cure....I have two of these running but I'm not sure if they come stock with carbon..maybe the white pad?
I have 2 Questions. In what position is the extender on for normal flow? I'm assuming it's to the left? If so, when it's on normal flow would the 2 holes on the inside be covered?
which is better : canister filer or hang back filter . i am confused between these two and wish if some one can help .i am looking for something that keep my tank clean and easy when clean
Thomas B thanks for response . one more question : so which qanister filter in your openion is a best . we have different brand and for what i saw Eheim is germany company so i prefare is good product . can you give me your suggestion ?
Big tank or heavily stock tank: cannister is the way to go. Small tank or lightly stock tank: Hang On Back is the way to go. Why: Cannister filter provides more space for filter media which usually means more beneficial bacteria. But remember, the amount of bacteria is not gonna get bigger just because you have more media, it also relies on the amount of live stock you put in your tank. Also, cannister filters are more expensive and can cause leaking. Hang on back filters are cheap, easy to maintance and will provide you with just the amount of bacteria that you need for a small or lightly stock tank. But If you had the money for it, go for a good cannister filter from eheim or fluval (the one in this video is actually a pretty good one).
you can also do sponge filters which i find are great and cheap options, that do mechanical and arobic (if im remembering correctly) bacteria which takes ammonia and makes nitrite , and nitrite to nitrate, it does not support anaerobic bacteria which is capable of removing nitrate which if you have good media it is possible to do
Why do I keep getting air going trough mine makes a lot of noise until it passes through, have tried everything like out take not near air stones, draining the system but is hard to re prime, would the fact I've got a uv set up be the cause?
The output sprayer connection is straight not turned to where the hook sit on the side rather than the back. How can we curve it. The hook being on the side is no an option for me. The hose doesn't seem long enough for a big tank.
why is the mechanical media on top does the water go from top to bottom and to the tank ? cause for most of the filter i have seen the machanical media goes to the bottom
I have the same question, and none of those replies answered it, with all my canisters, water goes straight to the bottom and is THEN pulled up though the media, I don't see how that works with the eheim? Does it flow straight on top of the media down through the canister then sucked up from where? I don't understand..
I'm a little confused about the water flow also. I get that it goes through the coarse filter on top first but then where? Down the sides and up through the middle? It's important to know so you can set up the media correctly. The problem I see with this setup is that the coarse sponge can only stop a small amount of dirt and it looks like all the rest goes through the bio media which will clog it up fast. Then there's a fine sponge on top when it should be at the bottom.
Absolutely, I was very disappointed I have a rock background and hood for tank so there goes the spray bar and how do you suction cup the intake to that? And like you said everything is cheaply made So I'll sell it on Craigslist for half of what I paid and buy a fluval they never disappoint.
Orient the spray bar so water is propelled sideways instead of forward. Obviously that was the intent of the design. More of the water's surface area is agitated going sideways rather than back to front anyhow (unless you have a cube tank).
How does the extender work what way is on and off, how do i know if im getting full performance from the filter, what way does it need to be turned so im not in bypass mode
Great instructions! I just set up my Pro4 + 350 and this video made it super easy. Thank you!
I've got one of these arriving tuesday, after my 2 year old cheap cannister met it's maker. This video will be invaluable, thank you.
I have eheim professional series 3 which is almost 10 years old. it is still working very very good.
I'm still tanking with my 2217 classic because it's better than anything before or since. By the way, Thomas- you were right about keeping spare impellers on hand. Even mighty Eheim filters need new impellers every once in a while. Cheers!
Always has to be a critic! Jesus people he did a great job. GET A LIFE!
I want one of these soooo badly. Very helpful video for when I do make the plunge!

Thomas B oops!! ;)
Great video! Lots of helpful tips throughout! Thanks for making this!
The pro 4 was my first purchase from big Al's today !
make more videos which focus on specific fish types and how to care for them, whether they're for beginners or not. And other tips/tricks for aquarium maintenance. And please make sure Thomas makes all the videos, the others are really boring
Can you make a video about feeding. Like how much you should feed your fish and how often you should.
ok. thanks thomas!

great video! you made set up simple!
Nice video! Can The water flow be regulate or the valve has to be at the full left side on the on position?
Dear Thomas, eheim says That you should spray the hoseblock with eheim siliconespray, helps getting it out the next time.(mine broke in half)
what is the hoseblock?
very informative instructional video! u smashed it Thomas!
Thank you very much ! It was very helpful !
Hi Thomas, are Canister filters only good for fresh water tanks? or could be also used for saltwater? And if yes for saltwater, what advantage do they have over a regular media/carbon/GFO reactor? Thanks
Super instructions, good job
Would this filter be ok in a 20 gallon I have been looking at one for my new tank it there a way of slowing the flow rate
I have an eheim 4 + filter, but after a few months, the flow adjustment goes empty and the red button can not push it, is it blocked? What can I do? Can I fix it myself? It's under warranty, but if I send it back it will be left without an aquarium filter! Can you help me with some advice?

I have 1 question!! if i purchase the proper enheim filter and 1 thermometer for my aquarium shall i need any other equipment ie (equipment for oxygen) for the normal functioning of my aquarium?
what about the knob to the right? what does it do and what's the right setting? Saw the whole video only to find there's no mention to it.
Hi thomas nice video ive a question which side should i put am eheim liberty 200 canister filter in addition to my pro4. 250 the intake or outake side ¿ thank you
Amazing thank you for the video
I got the 2217 classic do you think mine is better than the newer models??
Useful video, thanks. Can the on/off lever be used to control flow, or does that put a strain on the motor?
Yes, the lever can be used to reduce the flow and increase the flow. The unit has been made specifically to allow the user to increase or reduce the flow.
Thanks.
Hi I use eheim pro 4+600 for 70g tank, I installed it like the video but I have cloudy water . Wonder what’s wrong with it
Would this work for a 50 gallon tank? Is it easy to clean? Is it QUIET? ?
5 months late but I find it to be quiet, easy to clean? well it takes some effort but it's not complicated..
how big is the sound difference from this and an inside filter? i have eheim 2008 or what its called and i think it makes alot of sounds/vibration
Best youtube ever
Love the movie, wish my 4+ 600 was as easy to trime as yours ;)

James Courtney no they do not. You can add it as an option.
Nice rangeman you are wearing
Is that flow rate enough for a 160gallon aquarium?
Can I add fish now or do I need anything else?
hello, can you do a video on how to set up a Salt Water Aquarium cooler? thank you for these videos☺
Thomas B Yes exactly 😀 thanks ill be waiting :)
I have 2 Questions. In what position is the extender on for normal flow? I'm assuming it's to the left? If so, when it's on normal flow would the 2 holes on the inside be covered?
He left out the important part . If you set the extender wrong, your bypassing the bio filter. Total waste.
Thanks!!!!!!

What’s the difference between the 250t pro and the 250t experience?
The output sprayer connection is straight not turned to where the hook sit on the side rather than the back. How can we curve it. The hook being on the side is no an option for me. The hose doesn't seem long enough for a big tank.
U guys r awesome
😜😁

Hino, can you do a vídeo how to setup The t bar tube on this filtre?
If I want to add Purigen, which trey should I put on???
Top tray after the biological media and under the filter floss.
where is your store located
Need more updates on your tank at home
why is the mechanical media on top does the water go from top to bottom and to the tank ? cause for most of the filter i have seen the machanical media goes to the bottom
Canister Filters have to have water inflow from the bottom up because of the intake and outtake being right next to each other.
thanks for the information
Thomas B thanks for the reply

cheaply made, ceramic impeller sleeve snaps , and the impeller pump cover tabs are wafer thin and snap off
Absolutely, I was very disappointed I have a rock background and hood for tank so there goes the spray bar and how do you suction cup the intake to that? And like you said everything is cheaply made So I'll sell it on Craigslist for half of what I paid and buy a fluval they never disappoint.
Mean spary bar
Ma la leva grigia centrale a cosa serve? A regolare la portata della pompa?
Ive always said OVER filtration is good, but DAAAAAAAYUM Thomas thats OVER FILTRATION to the EXTREME!!!!!!!!!!!!
What if I want to use it for a 20 gallon
Caden Hamm eheim pro 250 or hydor 150
Crappy design. The spray bar tube shouldn’t have to be hung from the side of the tank.

WhatsApp about The 4+ 350t?
