I don't understand how people like this can even live to adulthood. I grew up in London, learning to dodge traffic is just another part of the childhood curriculum here (because who can be bothered to walk 10 yards to a crossing, right?), so I am completely unable to understand the kind of stupidity it takes to get hit at a pedestrian crossing by one way traffic.
Its a woman, they have the same basic awareness of surroundings as the average chinese.

Watching it frame by frame it looked like she held on to the phone until she hit the ground. Between that and the bus, this woman has impressive determination.

I would actually be in touch with the police over this and at the same time if at all possible, watermark this video. Hope the damage to the bike wasn't too bad. I see this sort of recklessness everyday here in London. Folks are just so unaware of their surroundings in the mornings due to too many distractions going on at any one moment - mobiles are the worst and she clearly has one on her here.

There was probably quite a bit of damage to the bike when it hit the floor, especially to any paintwork, and now the rider's the poor sod who has to pay for it.
I hope the victim reported this tosser to the police, along with the footage for a hit and run claim.

Many thanks for the upload, I feel it's important to upload footage of accidents, that way everyone can see the full incident themselves, and make their own opinion on it.
The problem otherwise, is when you get reports of an accident (e.g. in the media), you get very little facts, and people are always quick to jump to some knee jerk reaction as a result: need speed cameras, lower speed limits, need to ban [X], etc...
When in reality, this video clearly shows that the pedestrian was 100% at fault, and the whole accident could've been totally avoided if she'd just looked before stepping out (i.e. - what you're taught, and should be doing anyway)

If you haven't already reported this to the local police station, do it now. I once hit a pedestrian who walked away and by the time I got back from reporting it, two coppers were sat in mu Mums kitchen wanting to arrest me for "Failure to stop and report at the sacene of an accident.". The incident log number got rid of them in double quick time. They couldn't even request my documents because I'd already produced them. I'd get a subject access request in for the CCTV off that bus too in case she decides she had a sore neck three months down the road.

If you haven't already, report this to the police. There's no way she wasn't hurt and will be waking up this morning feeling very sore and probably thinking how she can get some compensation. That will involve her reporting it - you have the video to show you're blameless and she didn't stop exchange details (she hasn't broken any law by doing that though).

The requirement to provide details only applies to drivers of vehicles, not pedestrians. Not sure if you're in the US as "fled the scene" isn't a term commonly used here.

It's not the U.S where people/insurance companies just settle ridiculous easily winnable cases because its cheaper than fighting it or make ridiculous claims because they want to recoup the money they spent on medical fees. That girl knows full well all that will happen if she tries to take him to court is that she will end up paying a bunch of legal and court fees.

She did not look for approaching traffic before stepping out into the road ...

You have her on camera, there's buses around each have 13 cameras, plus she used an oyster card / bank card to get on the bus, this woman is traceable. Contact the police asap included the bus details that witnessed the crash. Good luck, you deserve compensation for her stupidity and selfishness. Fleeing a scene of an rtc is an offence. She needs educating and so do alot more other people

Peds should be liable for damage or injury to the rider in cases like this. I had a similar one some years ago on my supersports bike, so you know the damage my bike received even at less than 5mph while filtering. I do hope she is feeling the pain the next day and maybe will look left. Im sure you were hurting a little the next day

thats because the biker rode in the middle of a street and thats why she hadnt seen him. She was in hurry, took a look, ok nothing behind the bus im going... also the white truck maneuver made it worse. Her fault of course. Im talkin about reasons

Surely you can all see what happened: the woman was staring at her ***** phone when she walked out (the lights were green for the biker, he was totally innocent). The first thing she did when she got up was to pick up her **** phone. When will people ever learn to put these ***** things down when on the streets? Nightmare. And the poor biker did nothing wrong. Technology is killing people. She was lucky this time.

The warnining Sign " Slow Down" may have been ignored , I don't know, only the rider could confirm or deny that. There were two sins informing you to take action! , on both sides of the road some distance apart. The rider was hogging the inside of the middle chevron which gave him a poorer view of hazards ahead ,especially so because the white vans size and approaching crossing gave him a poor view. The riders poorer road position prevented him obtaining a better view of the potential hazards ahead,I have repeated this for posterity folks .This may possibly be achieved by taking a position more to the right whch he did not take at any stage ! The rider took insuficient forward views to determine if any one was actually on the crossing it was broad daylight. It was clearly obvious by the road markings, that there were both chevrons and traffic lights ahead and that the possibility or likely hood of a pedestrian actually on the crossing should have been looked for.The rider post collision should have at least insisted they swap contact details and then immediately inform the Police.If she had later died there would be a missed opportunity for Medical intervention or monitoring.The pedestrian was also completely at fault.

Hypersonik - You could definitely check google maps to check what road type it was and to get the speed limit. Then you could take 2 points and time how long it takes to go between them. You’d then take the distance between the points in google maps and then calculate it as: speed=distance divided by time. Of course I can’t be arsed doing this
by looking at the video at .5 speed, you can see he is going around 27mph, and around the time of collision, he was roughly 2 car lengths from the van, which is the average stopping distance, so, he was doing nothing wrong, the ped walked out when he was about 1 car length away, meaning he had half the stopping distance, hence why the collision occured :P
