Looks like you have cracked it Danny, today I've treated my pind it some fluke treatment, two of my orange fish were going mental last night, I reckon they were watching England lol, it's my first ever treatment so was a bit apprehensive, got home from work and they seem ok and settled, my u.v. is of for several days just as I got rid of the algea, the Joy's lol, your pond looks great, I must get a drum next year. Great video.
Fingers crossed you get your sorted. Normally I'd they go nuts when it go's in that means it's working. The treatment starts to kill the flukes which makes them more active and irritates the koi. Hopefully you get them sorted first time and don't have to treat as many times as I did
Hi Dan i have profidrum combi have water plumbed into my garage / filter house so i am able to use hose pipe into space where you put your hand once a week or sometimes more to keep it clean or as you have found out it get messy lol.What i have a problem with at moment is a lot of build up of messy gunge you have found but it is sitting on inside of first part of drum underneath waste Shute.Only way to get this out in one go is to drop water down to bottom of mesh under chute then scoop it out I’m one go I would be curious to hear if you get this problem .👍Meant to say this is where dirty water start to go into the inside of mesh .thanks
The way I've set my drum up makes it quite difficult to check under there. I'm going to have a look though and find out. They are great filters but not totally maintenance free. I've definitely been surprised with how much gets passed it

I'll definitely be keeping that one. I want to see how big it will grow. It's putting on around 1cm a week at the moment. It's crazy. Like you say it's slimmed down a bit aswell, growing long instead of fat. I've changed the flow to my underwater return. There's 7000lph going through it so they have got a bit of flow to swim against now
U getting rid of the beni kikokuryu? My fave koi in your pond. Is the small black one a common carp? Great update mate. Deleted my videos when i nearly quit the hobby a few weeks ago but iv bought two cheap but cracking koi tday so im falling back in love with the hobby again after a break for a few weeks.
Definitely not the kikikuryu I'm afraid. May be an Israeli but it's one of my favourites. That small black one is a koi, it's actually an ochiba but it looks quite dark at the moment. That ones off to a new home next week. Glad to hear your getting back into it. Would love to see so more videos again some point

8:02 I don't know what it says on the label, but we only feed such high-protein feeds in the height of summer, when the water temperature is consistently above 25°C. In my experience, there is no advantage in feeding such high growth foods in the UK unless you have a heating system running at full capacity during the summer.
I do understand what your saying. The 3mm is a high protein growth food. For older fish it's probably not needed but for young tosai they do well to have that extra protein in there first year. The manufacturers recommendations are to feed above 16 degrees.
@@dannycurrie1 This could be your chance! If you can, try raising the water temperature to 25C and feeding at least 5 times a day! You won't believe the changes you will see in your KOI! ＼（◎о◎）／

That's a crazy amount of food, they will turn into monsters. How much water are you changing per day?
That's the plan. I've got a trickle in/put which changes around 20% a week give or take

Hi mate does the koi food contain fish meal
Yes they do mate. The main and first ingredient in the 3mm and 6mm is fishmeal, the 4.5mm it isn't first (wheat is) but it is still high in fishmeal
