You've yet again made me so happy tonight, thank you for being so ALIVE. When I was about 10, bought a 60s album 'Music For A Striptease Party' at Goodwill. My 85 yr old Greek great grandma that could hardly speak English used to put the record on & listen to it like it was classical music. Drinking tea & knitting. She loved it.
My grandma had a big beautiful pink silk robe that I used to wear all the time and dance with it on trying to be sexy. She also had a black slip I would wear under it sometimes. Somehow they were still surprised when I came out. Jesus Christ lol
SAME! Well not exactly the same, but when I was very young, I would play dress up with my grandmother's scarves and jewelry. I would dress in JUST scarves and jewelry. I would pin a scarf around my waist and have my Grandmother fold another like a bandu top, and pin that one on, then wear one of her necklaces around my waist like a belly dancer. The adults were very worried. I remember that "FABULOUS" feeling very well. Sinewy and feminine and fierce! Eventually I wasn't allowed to do that anymore either... ) :
Coco, you look EXTRA VIBRANT and radiant in today’s episode, love the kimono top! 😘 I’m so grateful for you, you’re truly a highlight to my days during quarantine. Also! You and your husband seem to have the loveliest and most loving life and relationship.
:) I just have to say that as I grew up the one thing my mother always taught me was to love the body I am in. She reminded me that the beauty queen from her school did not end her life as one. The complete opposite in fact. I always kept that in my head. We are generations of heavier set people in my family so I was destine to have some weight, but it never bothered me because of what my mother said. I always had hot boyfriends and got the one other girls wanted. They would ask me how I did that. I told them it was because you have to love yourself before someone else will. So it wasn't my body men fell in love with it was my confidence.
Can we talk? I fell in love with burlesque after seeing the movie 'Gypsy' in 1962 (I was 10). I bought the cast album and saw myself as the next Gypsy Rose Lee when I grew up. I would put on the album and play all the parts. My favorites were the 3 strippers - Gotta Have a Gimmick - and Gypsy's strips. Love it! Would you believe when I was 12 I got to meet GRL herself and get her autograph. I still have it, treasure it and it reads: To Marty, Good Luck, Gypsy Rose Lee. Oh yeah, and I grew up in a Catholic household...my mother used to be a nun - True! Coco, you brighten my day in so many ways. Bless you!!!
My mom had an album, simply called " The Stripper". She shared her love of music with me always. So I grew up enjoying all genres. She's been gone for over thirty years, and sometime it still feels like yesterday. Love you Coco.
I don’t think I’m a normal teenage boy I’m obsessed with Cher she makes me feel special. I’m obsessed with all her music from sonny and Cher to Cher now!! She’s perfect just like your passion for Barbra. You and Cher are my idols
I remember my mother had the “How To Belly Dance for Your Husband” album. Never heard it being played though. Oh, they also had this mat that showed the outlines of two pairs of feet, one pair splayed out with the other pair inside and the words “Sock it to me”. OMG.
Stripper music is GREAT music - there's such thought in the timing, the cadence, the arrangement - it's not thoughtlessly made at all, and alot of it is VERY enjoyable to just listen to! SHIMMY!!!!! Everyone should shimmy more.......
Coco every time I think you couldn't possibly get more fabulous, you do. How have I ever made it without your daily inspirations. I so hope I that you are finding in the comment section something even close to what we are receiving from you. I love you too dear one. Look forward to seeing you soon.
My dear, as a Youth and families social worker, after a crazy working week visiting people, you made me laugh, for few minutes, you make me happy. I really appreciated you, Thank you so much, you are so talented...
The album looks like perfection. My sister and I danced and did every move imaginable around the house to the point my parents had to replace the carpet. Not once but twice. Stripping, not a problem.
These videos make this quarantine quite easier to go through for me. Every time I see there is a new video it's like "GREAT, ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER VIDEO FROM MISS COCO PERU" and suddenly everything feels lighter around me. Love you Miss Coco, love from Gran Canaria 🖤
Your story of the guy on the beach reminds me of a viral video from a few years ago. It was an outdoor aerobic class and everyone was lookin' mighty not into working out except 1 fabulous man. Oohhh, the pride he had showing off his big boy body while out dancing the instructor. Priceless ❤️
This is going to sound ridiculously corny, but these get me through the week! Thank you so much Coco. My husband and I send our love from Peabody, Massachusetts. Stay safe.
What a wonderful gift from your friend! I do remember once wanting to walk like Marilyn Monroe. She made everybody look at her. My goodness did that get shut down fast in my house!! I practiced in the basement from them on.
We need to see the fabulous living room with all the throw pillows, under the lemon tree, gardening, cleaning out that Walk in closet, washing laundry, doing dishes and yelling at the children on the bouncy castle
I have also seen many a European man walk proudly in his tiny speedos in a way we do not celebrate here in America. I love your message. And as I struggle with my Covid19 pounds, I will try to remember it.
Another great message from Coco! I totally agree and though I spent my childhood and teens incredibly shy and self conscious.. I just “woke up” one day and thought “I don’t want to live like this anymore. I want to love myself. I want to be confident. Who cares what people think or if they judge me- that is their problem not mine!” And though we all have moments of insecurity I can say, I have never looked back. I refuse to hate myself or any part of me anymore. I have a voice, a story and a body that is all mine. I even have to speak in large groups now for work. Sometimes on a stage. I would have NEVER guessed that as a child I could or would ever be able to do that! But It’s quite empowering to overcome your insecurities so drastically. ❤️ We are all beautiful in our own ways, confidence is an amazing feeling and gives off a glow to others too!
You just make this isolation so much better by sharing your amazing stories everyday! It got me thinking of some fabulous times in my life that I haven’t thought of for years.
Hi Miss Coco! Don't let anyone dim your fabulousness my dear, you be you, I'm sure Rafael basks in your fabulous vibe every day 😀, just love your stories, makes this stay at home thing easier to handle, take care and enjoy your Friday, wait, it is Friday, right? Hugs from Orange County, CA 💞💞💞
I love you so much Coco. You have such a beautiful soul. I feel sorry for the people who have not found you. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. 😘😘😘😘
You are fabulous -- and so are all the wonderful people who comment here. When I read the comments, I feel a connection to everyone. You attract great people, which is a real gift.
I love the stories too. Proudly been following the rules of social distancing since March 16th. This posting almost seems like a Davis Sedaris story. One of my favorite posts.
Oh, Coco, Coco, Coco. You've done it again Dawl! The other day I was heading downtown on foot from Harlem (where I live) to the Village. As I walked through Times Sq. (Ghost Town), I the thought to myself, "I am hoping for 2 consequential positive outcomes from all of this. A clothesline renaissance (they are so romantic)...and burlesque!" Now I play music from Gypsy when I'm peeling my protective rubber gloves off! Thank you, Miss Coco! : { )
I remember those carefree days.......aaaah the memories.......OKAY my CUP OF COCO there you go again.......ugh tearing up (in a good way) all the times I had as a child aaaaand teen........the STORIES I COULD TELL 😆
This was just wonderful Coco. You are such a gem! Thank you for these inspirational videos during this time of solitude. You remind us all how simple things can inspire and may even define our humanity. IMO - you are essential!
Coco, I love these videos.... and your honesty. As a young boy I was very enfemme (hot pink sunglasses with rhinestone hearts, short shorts all bedazzled (this was me at 8-12). My father just did not know what to do with me. He force me to play sports but all I want to do was recreate my broadway musicals. I had all sisters so you may understand the were I was coming from. Some where along the line I discover the pleasure and passion for leather and kink. But what was an enfemme gay going to do being all butch and masculine. In short, i discover my femme side and as I got older I came out to the leather /BDSM community (I believe in responds to an alternative to the normal gay marriage movement). I embraced the masculinity my father was unable to teach me and I am now fighting for Gay sexual freedom (within and without gay marriage). You have shared so many stories that are the same as my youth... big head Barbie being my favorite... Sweetheart you are a true treasure and totally so unrated. Thanks you so much for all you are giving.
Coco, once again you've brightened my day & what a fabulous message.. Reminding us to celebrate our bodies! Would love to hear some of that album! YOU my dear are a gift to all! SO talented!! 💖💖💖
Oh your story reminds me of my parents and their copy of 'Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex But Was Afraid to Ask' that they kept in a compartment found in their headboard of the bed. That book taught me more about my body than my mother ever tried to teach me. All of us kids knew about the book and would sneak it out to read it until one day one of my brothers forgot to put it back into the hiding place before my mother went looking for it. I don't know what ever happen to that book, but now I want to go see if I can find a copy of it for old time sake.
Omg Same strip-teasey-horrifying-my-parents childhood RIGHT HERE! Thanks for all of it Miss CoCo! Your lovely “shame talk” hit home in the best of ways! This is getting shared with all of my friends from childhood immediately(that I haven’t already scared off!) Thank you! Thank you! 🤣🙏🏻💜
$900 on amazon. **Edit-just found it on Spotify. They have it under Sonny Lester but have all the songs in the one titled "How to belly dance for you lover" album of his. Enjoy. I just had to go see....pretty fun. I get it.
