Shipwrecks - An Ambient song with Blofeld, QY100 & Specular Tempus

  • An ambient track I sequenced on my QY100, set to underwater footage recorded by the Okeanos Explorer. You can download the midi file from my website, if you like.
    Enjoy! ^^
    ================================
    Some trivia about the song:
    A while ago FrankTheTank asked me in the comments if I knew any good hardware sequencer for ambient music.
    Of course I responded praising the QY100, but it occurred to me that I actually haven't used it for pads, soundscapes and such yet.
    Only live-recording and replaying midis.
    So I made myself a little challenge:
    I wanted to make an ambient song that's sequenced entirely on a QY, without a computer or other midi controllers.
    Also, I only allowed myself to use patches from the Blofeld soundset I released a while ago.
    And this is what I came up with.
    ================================
    Since the video showing the instruments isn't very interesting this time,
    I added some fitting underwater footage published by the NOAA.
    The videos were recorded during ROV dives from the research vessel Okeanos Explorer.
    I used two videos in mine: The first shows the wreck of the Amakasu Maru,
    the second depicts the remains of the USS Baltimore (C-3).
    Both videos are from the playlist for marine archeology:
    oceanexplorer....
    ================================
    A special view behind the scenes:
    On the QY100, I created a MIDI file which anyone of you who has my soundset can use to recreate this song, remix it, cover it, or just look how it's made.
    You can find it in the downloads section of my website,
    lanthanoide.ji...
    And while I'm on the subject of providing links:
    Download my music from Bandcamp: lanthanoide.ba...
    Listen to it on Soundcloud: / lanthan-oide
    ================================
    As alway, thank you for listening!
    I hope you have a great time!

    Reminds me a lot Jarre's "Waiting for Cousteau". This said, superb music, as always.

    Excellent, great atmosphere! You really make me want to push the reverb on my next track though, that sounds gorgeous...

      Thank you very much for the kind words! By the way, if you're mostly interested in the reverb, there's a cheaper version of this pedal available with just the reverb, without the delay. I think it's called "Specular Reverb 2" but I'm not shure.

    I have Specular Tempus and Reverb pedals. Those could make peace of wood to sound stunning. When I pair the pedals with Prophet 12, Rev 2, Microwave 1, OB-6, Juno, DX7 e.t.c. it makes me sitting and nuddling for hours.

    Because it immediately comes to mind when I hear this track of yours.

      Yes, I do! That's pretty much the feel I was aiming for, so I'll take it as a compliment that you say I got that close. ;)

    I still can't believe that it's only the Blofeld i'm hearing.
    As a Fulldome Visualizer it tickles my imagination - facebook.com/DOTliveplanetarium/
    Again a great composition.

    • @LanthanOIde
      @LanthanOIde  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, yes, it is. It's passed through a reverb, but yeah, it's just the Blofeld.
      That multitimbral mode is pretty awesome. ;-)
      And thanks for the nice words! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. :D
      Now that you mention it, I think these tracks might fit into the soundtrack for a planetarium show, too.
