These guys are absolute masters. Perfect guitar tone, perfect production, trance-inducing composition, abysmal growl and enchanting female vocals. This is all I want from Funeral Doom.

Since I first heard Shape of Despair, I have been a fan. Their music has inspired multiple RPG stories I have written and Angels of Distress was the soundtrack of a very memorable story in a long campaign.
I am really looking forward to this album.

Masters of funeral doom metal
I've been a huge fan of Shape of Despair since my early teens. I'm 35 now. These guys are unique, on a league of their own. Because their music is truly special - it makes you feel like a huge tsunami is about to crush you. There's something in here that feels like you're in the way of this huge, ancient, unstoppable force - your end is inevitable, but you still find a way to transcend yourself while contemplating your own demise. What a deep, beautiful realization.

Know them from myspace, Illusion’s Play, blow my mind, accompained me through difficult times, i highly recommend Mar de Grises “The Tatterdemalion Express” too, a band from the place i live, hardcore driven progressive doom metal with right amounts of funeral doom. Happy New Year to all.

This is more than a song ... this is pure art ... melodies so unique that they are capable of taking you to those places where only few manage to do it.

Shape of Despair is amazing but the all time best Funeral Doom is Colosseum. They released 3 albums from 2007 - 2011 before the mastermind committed suicide. Definitely check them out if you haven't, I highly recommend.

@@Compendyum I'm a big extreme metal listener, and I don't know why I had fallen behind with C.D.'s discography. This track is great, the official video is great!
@@PrimitiveInTheExtreme It's never too late.They always were a bit underground but their talent is obvious. Imagine writing the lyrics for that album month before a pandemic. Can't be more C.D. than that. There is also a don't miss video of the "Death Atlas" track, it speaks for the whole album.

They are like the TOOL of the doom metal
Beautiful song, I loved the last single, too. I'm really excited for this, it has the chance to be among the best of the new year if it retains this level of quality. Though they seem divisive, I love the cleans here, it's great contrast with the immense growls and adds to the atmosphere. Vocals can get a little monotonous in Funeral Doom sometimes, so I like the variety.

What happened and when did he leave the band? I don't know the members well just a fan of their music.
@@starklife1 Pasi was the vocalist from 2001 through 2010 I think. From what I remember Pasi had other bands like Ajattra. Ajjatra was his brainchild. He continued to write music and lyrics for both Ajjatra and SOD. So as it was told in an interview with SOD that Pasi had a lot of workings going on with other bands and both the band and he decided to separate. I'll add this in... not sure if you've heard of Amorphis? Probably have. Pasi was the vocalist on an album. My personal opinion he was the better vocalist in Amorphis. Hope this helps.

SOD are gods of funeral doom metal the music is epic as always but unfortunatly i hate the female vocal part
female vocal is awful, but music as always wonderful🤘
I really don't like female vocals in most music ever, but especially in metal, but I wouldn't say the ones in this song are awful there's far worse in metal genres, and I don't feel like they really change the song that much, it's a pretty small part.
I honestly don't understand this music, to me it's a band with to much time on there hands and women singers in metal makes me puke
