I think the reason for Left movement being so much more valuable is due to the fact all actions in the phases between turns (midrow, then enemy) occur from left to right, meaning rightward movement could put you into danger, while left ensures you can more easily get out of it
Usually, if your main source of damage is to the right of your ship, and your weak spot is to the left, then you want to go to the left as most as you can, and vice-versa
What you made is also a valid point, I'm just adding to the conversation
You'd be absolutely correct about exactly why moving left is more valuable when compared to moving right, but the fact that the tiderunner has its gun on the right side of the ship really hurts it if the ship get stuck on the right side of an enemy, thats why running isaac on it is really important so both sides become useful

*draws Anchor*
hahhaah
I really love this game series and the fact that youre always trying to do something new
instead of going 'uhh dumb combo works, do again'! Keep it up!
Fracture detection is one of my favorite artifacts, it really changes how you play by searching for it instead of just attacking again and again.
had a run where i got it pretty early on the gemini ship, luckily had already taken barrage and a good amount of shielding, and through the run picked up double two cost ace + other mobility, as well as charged shot and parry, so strategy became, poke around with gemini's alternating cannons/barrage till i find it, then go for big huge blast damage to one shot it with charged shot or parry, def changed things up

in regards to the drone activation/tiderunner issue.
discord confirmed its a bug that is being worked on.
nice! thank you for telling about ti
This is one of my favourite series in a long time, and I really, really hope you decide to play it to the end. It's amazing, and watching you play it is a joy!
What a great series you have here, i love hearing you play out your options!! Currently up to evil riggs and can really feel the tension!!
This is a great series and absolutely want to see more. Looks like you’re not going to run out of new combos yet, so it’s super interesting
Great run man. I appreciate seeing mistakes, especially pulling it oof anyway. WP
id be sad to see the series go!!!! ❤
I agree with your solar flare hot take at 33:00!
Catch is just too funny of a card. I wonder if it reverses enemy drones or if it releases them like it caught them
It does reverse enemy drones! Its so fun to use
It reverses ALL it catches , be careful not to point your own drones at yourself doing so , definitely didn't try and regret it.
Energy drone would have been so good with radio control! 0 cost upgrades on both would be insanely effective even for chance movement or blocking a shot, and the chance at a quadruple a card for max hull event could make radio control blow up.
Just saw it and had to throw it out there, love these videos!
whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stranger
Keep them coming!
Hey man, I really love the series in fact you made me addicted to this game:) but I have a request from you. Can you try a run with the ship ares and the crew : Isaac, max and drake. I can't beat a run with that Combo
Cant get enough of these
I'd love to see a run where Drake (or whatever is the name of the dragon person) is the main color of the deck!
I feel like 90% of the time you end up either adding just one red card, or regret not being able to remove both of the starter reds at the same time
It might even make for a good challenge run idea... (like take only cards of X color)
i literally just ran this crew but on the Ares ship, and i took the randomized build event, so both cannons were next to each other on one end, and my missile port on the far end, so, it became a draw cards and dodge fest that relied heavily on space mines, mage hand, and hand shot for damage. worked surprisingly well, but i had to turn down so many card pickups to make it work lol, i upgraded both basic shots because it was so damage starved, but boy dodged his way to victory
THIS MAN IS COMMITED! truly inspiring plays. I also agree that the Solar Flair event needs a rework of some kind.
Petition to not skip Dirty engines (extra energy for trash): It's at worst gain an energy every other turn if you always get rid of the trash as it generates, but sometimes it might save you to shuffle a trash by using that extra energy. Give it a try one time its awesome in my opinion
@@thejazmaster5292 Ah yes thank you, i thought it was to hand. I used it before tho and it felt good
No way you got through that Riggs fight my god
That's the RetoTheGod difference friend! 😂
The anker will be there a lot in a small deck. If you want to move with the tidehunter its better to get more cards.
I misread strangest as strongest and was wondering for a long time when this build gets strong
Alternative title: The nail-biting episode where everyone yelled at the screen, even Retromation!
The Tiderunner card description needs a rewrite, it's wrong as it stands now.
Hope the devs see this video and changes it.
For what's it worth, I haven't been this invested in a run that I have no impact on the conclusion of, literally yelling at the screen like a mad person watching a horror movie...
Riggs, Isaac, and Books on the jupiter is how I beat the cleo fight
I don't think strafe is that bad with Isaac and books on the tide turner because the drone bay and cannon have 2 cells between them and you get a lot of shifts.I could see it being really bad on the ships where the 2 are right next to each other, but when they're spread out like that it could be played around a bit easier. Not saying it's the right choice, just might not be a horrible one. Part of me wonders if that's part of why they spread them out so much.
yeah it isn't the worst, but I'd rather save it for a run where it is going to 100% be the star
@Retromation I had Peri, Riggs and Books in a strafe deck. I had the b upgrade for Books attack boost which gives +2 for 5 crystals. Strafe was also b doing 2 damage per move. I also had books relics where you start with full shards and max starts at 4. I also took Peri's beserk drive. Doing about 5 dmg every move is bonkers with tiderunner. I have yet to brave hardest though. You make it look easy and I don't seem to have your skill and luck. Hope this series goes for awhile.
Was waiting the whole video to find out how this is his strongest run
honestly there were a few fights where the stars aligned and it _did_ feel like my strongest run, but most fights it felt like herding cats... but yeah the title says strangest lol.
@@Retromation ahhh bro sorry my dyslexic brain read it as strongest I got my own hopes down then ma bad
@@Retromation what a wonderful analogy ahahahhah
I am letting you know. I would be sad to see the series go.
love the vids
58:53 perfect time to flip mineral deposit? 😅
a joke I do hope lol
This game is amazing!
There's Reto doing all these super smart plays beating the game on the hardest difficulty and then there's me thinking "man this ship is so good with the Jupiter ship" somehow not realizing how incredibly stupid that build idea is for several minutes
Large gemstone!
How is it that you have such a high win percentage? I've done over fifty runs and won four times and that's on Normal D: I feel like I'm missing something fundamental
Ngl I thought you didn't know you could flip that card! I think it can be convenient to flip it to ensure you stay in-place though, on this ship 🤔
I thought evil Riggs will do something this time...
I think Retro was the victim of "The Stack". Playing the card likely has a different meaning than when the effect of the card goes through. So it registers "Playing" which is triggering the card, THEN it checks for the card's effect and does that.
Nope dev confirmed bug, see the other comment that mentions the stack.
🥳
eyyy
Ya know, if theree was debug, that is definitely a time to debug yer health back, cause that aint supposed to happen like that .
Would be sad to see the serise go
