Tips to those who are learning to do this (including myself). This song's tabs does not work in standard tuning. I believe it is half step down (correct me if im wrong). Basically if you see on the tab "7" it will be "6" on your guitar. basically play all these tabs but one fret to the left.
ye i was so confused why it was in a different key
Is the tabs of the solo in the end correct?
@@missingherr no. they are the same as the end of the first solo. 12:15 (2times)14:17 (2)15:18 (2) 17:20 (7times) All reduced by one number, if you haven't lowered the tuning half a step, as played here.
AMAZING-
This is just amazing...

Can you please make a tabs video on this song in standard tuning?
It's Eb tuning
Amzing tutorial
Thanks! Enjoy
awesome job
This is so cool i love your guitar cover
Thanks
If you want a more "Edge"y sound (see what I did there), use a Herdim pick and pick with the broad side, and use two delay pedals, one with a straight eighth note delay, one with dotted eighth note delay, set your times to the tempo of the song, add some grit and reverb to taste, your tone is now Edge-ier.
Thanks 👍
The ending is 3 sets of repeated notes. and then 7 single note bends. Genius. Is there a wah-wah pedal in the very ending bends?
Guys it doesnt 'sound' right because the song is in Eb tuning meaning its tuned half step down
It's half step down tuning.
amazing, which rig did you use to record? amp/modeler etc?
The Tab is off showing the last bends on 14-14 16-16 17-17 19-19
Amazing vid! One quest, how you can get the strumming by listening the song?
The more you play the more you’ll hear it :)
@@AaronHoeyMusic Awesome answer. Thanks :)
Why is this so underrated?!
Don’t know ;)
Brother is it only high gain?
whats the strumming pattern? pls 🥺
DUDUDUDUD UU DU
Is this in alternate tuning?
Standard - makes it easy to play at gigs
@@AaronHoeyMusic no, it's half a step down
@@jonathanschneider580 Yeah man the original is half a step down. But it sounds no different in standard tuning so at a gig this is how I do it and don't have to switch guitars or tune.
@@AaronHoeyMusic you responded that it’s standard tuning but it’s not. Your guitar in this video is tuned half a step down and the tab is for that tuning. Sure you can just play it in standard tuning but that’s not the answer to the question.
@@jonathanschneider580 oh yeah - lol that’s what happens when I haven’t gigged in two years with covid and forget what I upload. Cheers for that!
Why’d you tune down for this?
ikr i was confused for a sec
I would like to know too...I think its because the power chords are a bit close to the end and so are harder sounding, plus the bending going on is easier if the string is looser
Its in key of d right?
how did you create that sound? which amp and which basic settings? and which effects? or does someone else have a good sound for this song and can share it?
im still struggling with finding and creating fitting sounds to songs with my kemper ... so if somebody could share which amp and basic effects they used ... 😅thanks
Hey - so it was so long ago I can’t remember but what I will say is check out tone junkie and mbritt for the best sounding amps. Sometimes it’s having the right guitar - right pick ups - or use some plug ins in your DAW for chorus, reverb ect.
@@AaronHoeyMusic no prob, thanks for your advice and replying so quick, I found a sound which works for me with Mbritt Dr.X Crash and distortion, reverb and delay for the calm riff
what is the tuning on your guitar for this song
Half step down I believe
Is the guitar in standard Tuning??
Yes - this way is much easier for gigging and sounds the same
No, it's half a step down
Hey Aaron :) Do you have the guitar pro file's of this ? If yes, where can we get it ? Thanks ! :)
What do you have to do with the ‘X’?
I’m a beginner :)
Hi - that means muting the string with your left hand or finger so it sounds dull
setup? audio interfgace?
what key is this in? thanks
tab for solo at the end?
Did you even watch the video
am I wrong or the 7 fret between X's is in fact should be the 6 fret?🫣😶🌫️
I ve just realised the tunning 🤦🏻♀️
what le tuninng
@@adewki9066
Is it just me or the tab is wrong
The guitar is tuned half a step down but it doesn't say it anywhere...
Half step tuned down. You’re correct jonathan
You should be able to get this without the tab
The tab isn't wrong
The tuning is in Eb
The funk part sounds so out of sync with the vocals - don't get me wrong, I believe it to be absolutely correct ( and it's a standard funk pattern after all, so not much guesswork involved ).
Still, the accents of the vocals clash with the accents of the funk guitar. It sounds fine for the first bars without vocals, then it begins to clash. This gets worse and worse as the accents of vocals and guitar continue to misalign more and more.
Doing bandwork for 10 years now, never came across a song like that. It's physically hard to play that easiest of funk licks as you are so out of sync with the vocals that every fibre in your body screams at you to get it right. But you have it right all along. It's a very, very weird sensation compared to other funk-y sensations, nothing is even remotely close to feel this out of sync.
On the contrary, most funk songs are so synced up that you can 'ride' the beat, experiencing a nice mix of harmony and rhythm as your guitar effectively does the high hat beats which are done by the drums in other, non-funk tunes. It's a very tight musical genre, and when it clicks it grooves.
Shut Up And Dance doesn't do that. As soon as the vocals come in, it's every man for himself until the PreChorus. And this phenomenon is displayed nicely in this tutorial. I have no solution and the pattern is the same pattern I hear when listening to the song ( although tuned way, way down to not sound as strange in the release version ), I just wanted to express that I never played a funk song even remotely as clashy as this one is.
and the dissonant solo is really all over the place till it resolves with the shrill bends! Genius.
Great performance and wondeful sound! If you want have a look at my channel too...I made an all instruments cover of this song long time ago...
