I don't think this is real AI technology. The work flow in this resturant doesn't use any training model to improve these robot's skils. They just do the same things repeatedly. You can only call it as an automated restaurant like a factory but without the AI factor. Ideally, from my perspective, an AI restaurant can not only run these work flows automatically, but also improve their skills and solve new problems in the future. For example, a counter robot can handle drive through orders very well even if it couldn't at first.

Because they have had the money all along they are just stingy with money and don't want to pay workers more then they have to become it is McDonald's after all 🤦♂️ as far as the ice cream machine goes it's because it's an extra cost they have to shell out so my best guess would be they don't make much profit from it they spent way more on fixing it and possibly that's how the machine way designed.

They keep saying AI but all this is automated robots that we've had in factories etc for decades.
Yes the robots themselves are not new, it's the computer that is running them. Things happen in the kitchen that can change or vary the cooking experience. The idea is that instead of having a program that just computes an "assembly" of peoples orders, it's an intelligent computer that can handle sudden changes. Sometimes the deep fryer get's a little hotter after it sits for a few minutes unused, the next batch of fries to go in will cook a little quicker. If a piece of cooking equipment malfunctions or stops working suddenly (however unlikely), the AI can compensate for that by reorganizing the food production. Or sometimes you have that customer that insists on completely customizing their order (like extra crispy fries or no salt on the patty), the AI can handle that too, and it remembers you, your order, and when you place the order...for the next time you come in. Which is pretty creepy.
@@AlextheHistorian Software engineer here and I don't see a drop of AI anywhere in this chain. All the robots run on precise code that doesn't change. Even your example of the oil being hotter is solved by a simple thermostat and code that determines how long to cook based on the temperature (not AI, btw). The facial recognition would be the only "AI" thing and that tech has been around for a long time now. The memory of what you ordered isn't AI either, that's just regular software. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any true AI here.
They even have a shot of the grill accidentally dropping the patty it looks like… that’s human not AI!
The key difference between machines used until now and new ones based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is in their ability to learn, adapt, and respond to various situations. Previously, most robots in factories were programmed for specific tasks with limited ability to handle changes or unforeseen circumstances.
AI-based machines, such as those in a restaurant making hamburgers and fries, can learn and adapt to different scenarios. They process data, recognize patterns, and perform more complex tasks efficiently, considering various variables. For example, an AI machine can tailor hamburger preparation to specific customer preferences or handle anomalies during cooking.
Additionally, AI-based machines can improve over time through continuous learning, making them more efficient and adaptable to changing needs.

We all knew this was coming as soon as fast food wages went up to $20/hr.
At first I thought it was because they couldn't afford to pay $20 employees to flip burgers but $8 for a cheeseburger? This is corporate greed at its finest. They will save money by not paying employees but still sell their products like if they had employees.
of course, its all a lie when they say they have to increase prices due to min wage increasing. All the while the CEO buys multiple yachts and homes and constantly brags about it, welcome to your world.
Dude, this is merely an advertisement for that arm. You might want to look deeper into this then what the news feeds ya.
@@ImmortalDraylowell two things can be true at once. I think it is kind of stupid that fast food workers are asking for obscenes amounts of minimum wage. But I also do think it is corporate greed as well when food isn't being adjusted after they implemented the robots
@ThePackman627 they do what they can get away with. Normally competitors drive the profit margin down.
Why aren't they? That's the real question.
That robot will deep fry a rat! 😂
I mean we’ve done it our selves to so no doubt there
smash smash and fry.... here's your burger
That would taste pretty good
We admit, there are some "issues" to work out.. I'm sure the rats will eventually stop making it into our burgers. My sincerest apologies for your dining experience 😂
@@jensenacklese3049 Miau...purrrr....no worries...wasn't that bad.
"Can't get people to be fry cooks" = I can't pay them less than their bills and rent AND have them work 38 hours a week so they don't get benefits.
Its amazing how its not even an option for the shareholders to even think about taking less. Its either pass it off to the customer or try and get robots to do it cheaper.
Better have backups to every software and hardware related item. One piece goes down and the entire operation grinds to a halt...
They really said we not paying no one 20 a hour lol
Finishing touches should be done by robots too. There should already be a completely autonomous restaurant working 24/7 without workers
Understaffed on purpose. The leaner the force means better bonuses for those in charge. It’s a main staple for management to make the workforce suffer for their bonuses.
Westlake in Daily City had a restaurant that had an AI making burgers. They got closed after a couple months because it wasn’t really getting customers after the novelty wore off
Interesting
And so it begins
We don't need AI to make food for us come on This is ridiculous
Reality is the profits from a slower performing restaurant will not be able to pay for updates, repairs, and maintenance on the machines and hardware. Plus if one machine goes down it screws up the entire restaurant.
If they start asking where they could find John Connor, the restaurant is toast
Can't really be called fully automated when humans are still doing the "finishing touches".
Well, this was inevitable.
Always was. Especially with the new $20+ minimum wages. The age of automated AI is here.
You will still have to monitor it regardless. That’s with every machine in the world.
@KarenPatrol123 for now.
They got to have the humans at the end so that they can contaminate our food
Crap! I was really hoping to avoid having my food spit on by the human at the end of the process.
Who's going to clean that? If shake machines are always broken.... DERP
Eventually all retail will be run this way. No easy access merchandise.
Every interview for A.I. and robots is from Investors, Owners, and Customers. And how cute it is by Reporter.
Good now the food should cost $2.99
In your dreams
I sure hope so
It should but it won’t the ceo will still charge you the same price and be 1000x your net worth
It's not that they don't have people willing to work the job, it's that they let them go because of labor costs
How do they do the dishes.
