Great video. Born and raised in Memphis,no longer reside there, but it takes me back. Always wondered what my city looked like when my parents were born in the late 60s.

WOW, thanks for sharing... my family is originally from Memphis. This is exactly what my grandparents and dad would have seen it as.

Wow, I live here now and I could not identify one street. From that film, that was truly something. It looked like a totally different city. And I've been here all my life. I was born in 1971. It's just amazing to see what the city used to look like.

Looks like S. Third Street. Was able to indetify a U.S. 61 shield, or perhaps it said 51. In that case it would be modern day Elvis Presley Blvd. But for sure is either Whitehaven or Westhaven, from the little I could identify.

@@justinbaranski5962 Yes I think you are correct. From what I can tell the U.S. 61 sign is at South Third St. and Belz with view facing North. In fact the building with the dock garage doors is still there looking at Google maps. Then the police car goes north a short distance and turns around and you see what is the South Gate shopping center barely catching the Giant grocery store "giant" in the parking lot and a Radio Shack sign. In fact just noticing at 3:02 sign says Southgate shopping center.

@@justinbaranski5962 Okay I think I have nailed it now at 1:11 car is making left from Mallory to north on South Third. Notice the steps (they are round very distinctive) at the entry to the drugstore then look at recent Google maps street view those steps are still there!

No drive by shooting, older people got respect and no drugs on the streets of Memphis. Children cared about an education, those were the days.

I absolutely love Memphis but I don’t like being in spot for a while because I’m afraid my cars hubcaps will be stolen and I will get mugged and that’s only 5% of the things that will happen if I stand in one spot for to long. Edit: first comment!

Memphis started becoming a city with major crime problems in the mid 1970s.
