  • Enhancements are coming to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act before the end of 2021. Before we review the changes, we take a look at the set of laws that date back to 1977, which establish certain requirements and restrictions on debt collectors.     I have a problem with collectors charging me again by what's been paid many years ago...and how do I prove it if the collection agencies claim they don't have the records cause they probably deleted it after it was paid off..

      Do they have the records proving that you owe them anything? Even in debt collections they have to obey the law so really it's not a question of how can you prove your innocence? It's still a question of how can they prove you're guilty? Not how can you prove you don't owe them anything. You don't owe them anything until they can prove that you do. Have they?
